Hi,What are the plans for adding OS patches to the Commvault software repository? Same as hyperscale?i know there is a CMR for it for a while. We want to prevent that we need to redeploy the FREL’s each time or do manual actions on the FREL for regular basis. thanks

We want to create a Server Plan for databases that only runs a Full backup one a day.We cannot find a way to achieve that. When we configure an RPO, it automatically runs an incremental (which we don’t want), and under "Database options" we cannot find an option to completely disable transaction log backups.Am I overlooking something?How can we achieve only daily fulls through the Command Center?

So another question.Regarding scheduling backups.  So our environment which is mostly windows servers and a few linux servers and 1 MsSQL.   Is following an accurate assumption:If I want to create a new client group, example - “Windows Server Agents” and then associate all of our Windows servers to this group this approach seems much cleaner way to create bkup policy then creating a seperate backup schedule for each windows server individually.  What is recommened?  Also if I was to create this group client Windows server bkup schedule I notice it doesnt let me chosse what drives I want to backup and the system state option.   I only see these options if I set up a backup schedule for an idividual client as there is a “content” tab where I can select aLL local drives or browse etc..and then there is also a check box for the “system State”   Does the client group bkup schedule automatically bkup all local drives -  C:\ drive and if there happens to be a D:

Hi all!could you advice me how to troubleshoot following types of error: Error Code: [13:138] Description: Error occurred while processing chunk [xxx] in media [xxx], at the time of error in library [disklib01] and mount path [[xxx] /srv/commvault/disklib01/xxx], for storage policy [XXX] copy [Xxx] MediaAgent [svma1]: Backup Job [xxx]. Unable to setup the copy pipeline. Please check connectivity between Source MA [svma1] and Destination MA [svma1].  At a glance, it seems that it is not possible for CV to process chunk from the (index?)/disk library...However, the issue is connected with storage policy copy, that moves data from the disk library to the tape library (secondary copy). I would like to deploy a new CommServe server on Linux using SP 11.40. My current CommServe is running on Windows with SP 11.36. I plan to set up the new CommServe as a standby node in advance.Could you advise on the best practices for this setup?The operating system I am using is Rocky Linux. Hello, I have issue with live browsing of Exchange recovery point. I am getting next error : Cannot connect with Exchange Mining process, please check service running status on live browse server. I made commvault case 220731-163. But i want to ask here aswell if someone had same issue.Somewhere in juni restore worked correctly on the same MA Once thing i change after is commvault hotfix to 11.25.44 The MA and Exchange have same patch.  I tryed restore offline DB to MA, but after restore getting same error at browsing. I uploaded some logs aswell.

My company is planning to do a tech refresh on our aging data domain to a newer version. We also highlighted that we’re having backup slowness issues on some of our large Oracle databases & some NDMP backups. Our current configuration is backing up to a VTL located in our data domain & no compression or deduped are enabled from Commvault layer.Dell’s sales team advice us to purchase an additional license for DDBoost for the new Data Domain. This is because DDBoost will be able to perform a very good dedupe & compression rate from the source level before transferring it to our data domain, thus saving the time it took to transfer via network.However I’ve been checking around Commvault’s KB and looks like commvault only works with BoostFS & not DD Boost. I haven’t check with Dell yet regarding this. May I know has anyone implemented DDBoost on your environment for backing up databases/vm & NDMP? 

HiRunning 11.24.73 I have a new colleague that has been trained in ‘Command Center’, I’m someone with many years experience in ‘Commcell Console’ Is there an equivalent in ‘Command Center’ of the Commcell - Scheduler?Just being able to see what jobs are due to run and when in the future I spent a few minutes looking around, couldn’t find anything! Many thanksMark 

Hi, We are currently in the process of making the Commvault environment more usable for customers. The administration of the individual systems in Commvault is to be managed via Active Directory. We include the AD groups in Commvault and create in Client Computer Groups per AD group a group with the name of the AD group. All systems from the VSA data backup pools are linked into the group. The main portal for the clients will be the WebUI. Now I have linked a VM from the VSA subclient to the group of an AD for this project and it looks like it could work. But currently I can only restore the last backup of a VM. For backups a few days ago, the "Restore" button is grayed out.Has anyone here already made experiences or perhaps a better suggestion, how this could be better implemented?RegardsThomas 

Hi All, I am baffled by why I have same API working on commserve and on another I get Internal Server Error (500).. I am trying to launch a backup job, using same api request and get different outcome on 2 commserves… api request Here you can see in red there is the api request if application is Virtual Server - this is failing with 500.outputAnother which is File System - completes ok. For SQL also completes ok..  I’ve tried different backup levels thinking maybe there is some kind of thought behind it.. looked into documentation here: 

Hi When I look at the VSA backup of a Linux system, I don't see any data in some directories, such as /dev. Is this a bug or do I need to adjust something on the fbr ? We used Commvault SP20 and the fbr was also updated to the version for SP20.RegardsThomas

We have 1 FREL for each VMware cluster we’re using on CV 11.20.We’ve noticed the FREL trying to reach public IP addresses with NTP packets but we cannot allow that through our firewall.I logged onto the linux console but found that the ntpd service was not active and then it occurred to me that as an appliance, the configuration should be applied by the Commvault client.We have a highly available NTP service available that I’d like to point these clients at and would appreciate some guidance on how to configure them.

Hello, This recent vulnerability has been detected. It seems to be a vulnerability in Apache Commons Text.The affected versions of Apache Commons Text are 1.5 to 1.9.  Does this affect Commvault too?

Good morning I have a customer that is backing up in car videos (local sheriff’s dept) and he is deduping this data.  We have created a new stand alone dedupe database for this data and are using a selective copy to copy weekly fulls to another target.  We have set up another stand alone dedupe database for this copy.  The customer is having issues getting this data copied over - it’s taking multiple days.  The full backup is about 40 TB in size.  We have recommended not using dedupe for this copy, but the customer does not have enough capacity for non-deduped copies.  Are there any optimizations that can be made to speed up this aux copy?  They currently have only 1 subclient backing up all the data - if they split this out, would that help in using multiple streams for the aux copy?  Any other suggestions? Thanks

Hi, We are running v11.22.13 and the alerts have changed behaviour from v11.20.x. We used to get an email formatted as html with the general job status and an attachment as text with the failed vm name and failure reason. This is no longer the case.Now we get an attachment in html form which is just a repeat (copy) of the main email. So not helpful. Also I would prefer the attachment be in plaintext not html.I’ve played around with a variety of alert settings such as sending as text instead of html / with or without “detail as attachment”. I have included the various “VM xxxx” tokens. Nothing has produced the list of failed vm’s. Is this working for anyone running the same version as I am?Cheers,Ron

Hi together,due to the necessary transition from Storage-Policy/Schedule-Policy to Plans, we are looking for a method to do bulk changes to the configuration (400x HANA, 500x Oracle, 100x Postgres ...).When we are using plan rules this seems to work, but in fact it does not. The plan rule is changing only the assignment for the subclient and not for the database instance.Example: Plan rule for Postgres should assign a derived planThe subclient is changed to the Derived Plan, the instance is not (completely) changed; here you find the Base-Plan that is “mentioned (sorry for this term, but configured would not be appropriate)” and the instance is listed as “not ready”.Qcommands (and therefore workflow) seem to have no interface to assign plans. So my question: How can I do a bulk change for database agents and assign a derived plan to the Subclient and the database instance?Thank you.Michael

Hello, I have some issue with finishing on time with FS Agent backup, the widow time is 6 hours. Till 2 weeks ago i had no probleem with scanning and then starting backup., but now the scan taking to long and then starting of backup taking to long aswell.  Here is some logs of last failed backup. The backup staerting at 2AM, the scan finished at 5AM, there is 3 hour more to take the backup and 8 am the job wil be killed because of run time.  The amount of files is not really changed

i have this weird issue that some of our server says no Job within SLA period but when i check all the servers, all of them is completed within 14 days.is there an issue within the reporting because all of their backups is completing. our SLA is configured for 7 days but it says like that on the report.  

Anyone using CVPySDK and Ansible?  I am unable to get it to function.  I have pip installed and can run the commcell functions from within the python interpreter.When I attempt to use it in a playbook, I get an error… ERROR! couldn’t resolve module/action ‘commvault’ Ansible 2.10.7python 3.6.8. Ken
