Hi, Just want to ask if there are specific use cases or features that Hyperscale X can provide without Commvault Backup and Recovery or Disaster Recovery software? Or would I need CV backup and recovery to enjoy the features of the Hyperscale X reference architecture (i.e. would I have backup and recovery capabilities using the hyperscale X reference architecture on my servers alone without the CV Backup and Recovery license) 

wolud like to know regarding the commvault complete backup and recovery product line. 

Hey guys,The client is asking me for the last clients inserted in the last 90 days in the backup policy, do we have any reports with this configuration in the commvault?Note: He informed if possible to have the creation data and data from the last backup in the report

Hi All, One of the customer configured the NAS Backup with NetApp SVM and enabled CIFS and NFS protocol under the same NAS client. https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/add_nas_file_server.html He enabled the snap backup at Instance level on each protocol (CIFS/NFS). But whenever he creates user-defined sub-client under the specified protocol, the snap-backup was not enabled by default and need to enable by manually. Would like to understand that whether it is a behavior by design or anything I need to do extra to automate it?

Hello Guys,We have an issue while running SAP for Oracle RAC using br*tools command lines and script using CV 11.36When we run the backup of logs with brarchive command line, this will initiate 2 jobs with a different instance on each. Hello,I made several plans with two backup destination (primary and secondary).On these backup destination, the retention periode is 3months, but when i look to restore data, i see that i can restore data from beyond 3 months.Why ?The Data aging is runing daily, so i don’t understand the problem.Also, some plans respect the retention period and other no. 

Hi,I know that at Command Center > Protect > Virtualization > VM we can get “Oldest recovery point” for that specific VM.I need a report with all VMs with “Oldest recovery point”. Any ideas?I know that “Latest recovery point” is easy and already available at some predefined reports.ThanksHC

Hi team,We are building up a new infra in Azure to be responsible to back up all workloads running in Azure, which are currently managed by a Commcell running on-prem.Having that said, we want to migrate ONLY the Azure workloads from this Commcell to the new one, running in Azure. I know that Commcell migration is not supported for Azure, even on version 11.40 (we are on 11.36 latest MR): CommCell Migration - SupportReconfiguring the pseudo-clients and enabling again VSA backups, it's easy and has been done already.The problem is that there are VMs in Azure runnings DBs, where we do a combination of Filesystem and DB agents backups.What would be the quickest way to move the agents from one Commcell to another to avoid the manual work, as there are several clients? Any way that I can user Export/

Good day Vaulters This question is around hardware and Commvault level encryption. If I have encryption enabled on the Maglib (VAST storage with it’s encryption enable), what happens if encryption is enabled on Commvault? Does it try to encrypt the data on the Maglib that has the Hardware vendors encryption already in place? What is the effect on backup AND recovery performance in doing this?Would it be best to leave Encryption on Commvault off in this case? We do need to also have Encryption enabled ‘in transit’. I know that’s done with Network routes. Would there be a performance impact on operations in using this option too? What will both layer of Encryption do to DDB sizing? I’d imagine it could cause bloat? Thanks,Mauro

Hello Team,We are planning to implement new media agent servers in main & secondary sites.The new MA servers are having 4 network ports.  For backup and replication using dedicated network switches and also these two data traffic to be seperated. Please advise. 

We have an old physical media agent doing Aux Copies AND writing tapes every month.  When tape jobs start for this media agent, the throughput of the aux copies suffers greatly as the CPU goes to 100% and stays there until tapes finish (might be 10+ days). We wanted to see if we could easily offload the “tape writing” jobs as we have a newer (but not very powerful) physical system we could repurpose.  This would entail installing a new physical media agent in the rack, adding SCSI HBA’s to it and connecting them to the tape drives.  Are there any “gotchas” when setting up a new media agent for tape jobs (either special physical hardware considerations, or software/config gotchas, or guides I should be looking at)?  I haven’t set a media agent up (especially doing tapes) and this is a that was maintained by a person who is no longer working with us. Also: We’re using LTO7 M8 tapes with LTO8 drives.

Hi All, we are actually fighting with the deployment of the Nutanix Image with 11.36 . We downloaded the image from here: Nutanix Image with 11.36 During the deployment we tried to add custom script like frel: CS_IP_OR_FQDN=commserve_host CS_SHORT_NAME=commserve_client_name CS_USERNAME=user_name  CS_PASSWORD=password FREL_CLIENTNAME=client_name ROOT_PASSWORD=Password Without success.  If we rolloutthe image without script we cant login.  In the docu i dont find anything for accessnode only stuff for frel. Do you have an idear for nutanix ahv access node deployment ?  

Hello,, Do you still need a global account for Teams backups? And every time a new Team group is created, the global account is added to the group. Is this still necessary? If not, how do I disable it? Currently we are on CV 11.36.60 Thank you

Hi We have two site main DC and DR site and I want to replicate a vm from DC to DR and we have mediaagent on both site.What is happening right now is when replication happen it first take backup (dedupe) and then restore from backup to DR site and while restoring process full vm original size and it is choking the bandwidthThen i take the call with support and he suggested to check the “replicate using secondary copy option” and choose DR mediaagent as storage in secondary copyNow when replication trigger it first take backup in main DC site then aux copy trigger from DC  to DR site then replication happen but it still restoring the vm from main DC not DR. Can anyone help here?

Hi,We disabled the secondary copy but few jobs are showing in “To Be Copied” and “Partially Copied” status in secondary copy but we planning to erase the data in secondary.My Question is: If I erase the data in secondary dependent copies will be going to erase in primary copy or only data will erase in secondary copy itself?

So, I am creating a report to capture events across time.The problem is that the daterange input control returns time as a UTC string, but the api wants epoch time.The input looks like this, and it passes the correct data but  I tried just sticking Date.parse in there, but it didn’t work.  Is there a way to massage the output of the controls before using them as inputs?With sql as a data source you can handle it all the query.Can someone tell me what I am missing?

I recently discovered that our Oracle incremental backup schedule is not working as initially expected by my predecessor.It is assigned to a client group with all our Oracle servers and starts an incremental backup on the default subclient and a log backup on the Archlog subclient.The goal with this schedule was to only backup Archlogs. I already studied the documentation and read through a few post here but it seems like there is no way to prevent this behaviour when the schedule is assigned to a client group.Is there no other way to schedule an Archlog backup exclusively other than assigning the subclient itself to the schedule?Maybe some option to restrict the schedule to just Archlog subclients? Thanks in advance.

Hello, is there any official article in the CV documentation, which would clearly state, that the VM does not need to be protected by the Virtual Server Agent (VSA) to consume a VOI license. As long as the File System Agent is installed and the VM is detected, any in-guest agent backups (e.g., SQL, Oracle, Exchange, AD) will be covered under the VOI license. Arlie gives me the link and says that here this is written explicitely:https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/others/pdf/commvault-complete-license-guide.pdfBut I get error 404 when trying to open it.  Best regards, Aleksandra
