Hello Commvault Community,
Today I need information on data protection in Google shared drives.
Commvault licenses are purchased under which the drives of Google Workspace users are backed up.
I want to change the Google Workspace package that allows me to work with shared drives.
Does Commvault backup Google shared drives?
If so, do the current licenses we have (Cloud Apps) allow backup of Google shared drives or is it necessary to purchase others?
How should I configure a shared drive copy in Commvault (needs documentation for SP20)?

We do however support google file store:
@Mike Struening ,
Thank you for the information.
The current version of the environment is SP20, so at the moment it is probably supported up to SP24. However, for SP20 there isn’t solution for the Google File Store yet.
What solution will be the most sensible? Do I use Google Mail and Google Drive until my environment is running on the SP24 version? Can we protect shared drives with this solution now?
Let me find out more. I can see it is only deprecated in 11.25, and the notice doesn’t give much context.
I’ll reach out to the docs team and see what they know:
Feature Release 25
Google Mail and Google Drive
You cannot create a virtual client for Google Mail and Google Drive.
Deprecation Notice for Google Mail and Google Drive
I hope you are doing well.
Do we have any answer from Docs Team?
Let me push for an update.
Please find the documentation on GSuite

Post SP 25 we don't allow creation of new virtual clients. Existing clients work as expected.
@Mike Struening @Rahul Vishwanath for your help on this topic.
At the moment, I have no more questions, if they appeared, I will return to this thread.
We’ll be here!
