Hi Team,

I would like to clarify / check some about the Exchange Index Restore.
In my environment we have Index folder separately for exchange index catalog/metadata.

May i know below:
1. Is the restore index will rebuild from last hour it was backup?
2. What are the procedure to rebuild the index after restore?
3. Is the restored data will get conflict with latest backup?

May need your guidance on this. Thanks.

Hello @Raj Balaraj

The index server contains action logs. These are generated with the backup job. They are played into the index they are also stored with the backup with the job itself.

You can backup/restore the index following these steps:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/29035_back_up_and_restore_exchange_mailbox_agent_index_server.html

If you did not have a backup, it would reconstruction the entire index which would just take a longer time to complete then if you had a backup of the index. Once a backup for the mailbox agent any log playback or index reconstruction will take place you do not have to do any additional steps just start a new mailbox backup.
