SQL Restore point-in-time to time with seconds

Hell all,A customer asked me, if it is possible to restore a MS SQL backup to a time e.g. 11.:23:45 (seconds). During restore only minutes are shown. This is necessary to keep database and documents of a document system in sync. As far as I know in Oracle should it be possible.Thank you.

Performance hit during VM Backup

Hi,I’m looking into an issue with a VM that hosts a MySQL database. The MySQL admins are complaining about poor performance during VM Backups. My first guess is quiescing that is potentially causing issues. (Transport Mode is Hotadd)The MySQL database is also being backed up using the MySQL iData Agent. This works without issues. However, the customer also wants a filesystem consistent VM backup and that is where the issue comes in.Looking at the backup details and logs, I don’t see any issues.Any idea what next steps I could take here? I’m looking at the possibility to take a crash consistent snapshot to test my theory.

Security Assessment Report

Good day all As we know the FR26 upgrade highlights the requirement to upgrade password complexity to Level 3.I’ve gone through all the local accounts (safe to assume the Domain accounts are not queried) and I’m still seeing the alert.I’ve looked to see if there is a way to list which accounts are the problem, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to list them.Does anyone have any solution to this?Thanks,Mauro

Creation MA on Scale Set in AZURE.

Hello, I heard something about solution called Scaleset which is provided by AZURE. I don’t know how to start process of creation that solution to save some cost from machines.  Is someone have some experience in that type of solution? Regards, Michal

locked file will not get backed up when ‘Track Access Time’ enabled

Hello team OS: Wins2012 R2 datacenterCommvault Client version: V11/SP25.32Windows file system on the client indexing version :  2installed date:   Apr/2018 for some reason, locked file will not get backed up when ‘Track Access Time’ enabled Just wondering if this an expected behavior that locked file will not get backed up when ‘Track Access Time’ enabled or this is something Commvault development team need to look into ?   Tried:unchecking “Track Access Time” and then change the VSS setting for locked files only or as needed.  Once I make the change then re-enable “Track Access Time” , and it reverts to ‘’Use VSS for all files’ again.

PostgreSQL dump based backup is filling C: drive up to 100 percent

Hi All,During the PostgreSQL backup the C: drive is filling up to 100%. The database itself has about 400 GB on D: drive.The disk space used on C: is 34 GB when no backups are running. But 150 GB (whole disk) is used during backups.I need to prevent the C: drive from getting full during the backup.What fills up the C: drive?Is it possible to redirect it to another drive/folder?Any other ideas?Thank you,Lubos

Enable 25Gb link on hyperscale Dell reference architecture

How or is it even possible to enable a 25Gb link on hyperscale Dell r740xd2 reference architecture?  We have the optics and switches to do 25Gb.  But the server doesn’t seem to want to recognize it can do 25Gb.  Tried ethtool -s p1p1 speed 25000 duplex full autoneg offand ethtool -s p1p1 autoneg onUsing  Broadcom Adv. Dual 25Gb Ethernetwith a  P7D7R transceiver.

use VSS option is grayed out

Hello team OS: Wins2012 R2 datacenterCommvault Client version: V11/SP25.32Windows file system on the client indexing version :  2installed date:   Apr/2018 I just came across an issue where the ‘Use VSS’ option is grayed out from general tab of subclient properties and that causes backup failed on the locked files.I think uninstall/reinstall file system agent will work, and not sure why VSS option doesn’t active

Type fuse.glusterfs Global Exclusion -- can this be done?

Hello, Commvault Community,I was searching for documentation about GlusterFS, but not sure if the lead I found really applies to what I want.   I was wondering if there is a way to globally exclude files that are of type “fuse.glusterfs”?   I found this in the doc, but not sure if it applies to what I’m researching.  Exclude Files From Backup Operations in Hybrid File Store (commvault.com)Situation:GlusterFS replicates data multiple times over the cluster, i.e. one file turns into 5 copies across the nodes in the cluster (assuming there are five nodes).  We have an exclusion list defined in the Global or Client Filters, but this only works if we know where glusterfs types are being stored. We recently discovered an unaccounted glusterfs nodes, and as consequences, files were being backed up five times.   As you can see, waste of resources.   Is there a way to filter file system types like that doc link I pasted?   That link defines excluding txt, jpg, bmp.  Not sure if this can be done

Separating CommCell for business reasons

Hello!This is Stefano, I’m using CommVault since years.For business needs I have to migrate some of our clients from our existing CommCell to a new one (I already requested and applied the auth code for both).This use case is partially covered by online documentation, but some of the steps are not really clear to me.My source environment is the following:- CS running on a VMware virtual machine;- Media Agents are physical HPE boxes, and they uses some big HPE MSAs storage;- a few VMware subclients to be migrated. Some others needs to stay in the source env. With regards to VMware subclients, to better manage the migration I already moved the subclients in a dedicated Virtual Client, with the result to have:- subclients that must stay in the source --> VMware vCenter client "A"- subclients that must be migrated --> VMware vCenter client "B" As said, Media Agents are physical boxes and one of them does backup for both "A" and "B", toghether with other resources (AD, SQL, File Syste

Debian support for MediaAgent

Hi, A customer is using Debian as their Linux distribution choice. We are planning for Linux MediaAgents, so it’s natural that customer wants it on Debian, however looking at BOLhttps://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/2822_mediaagent_system_requirements.htmlThere is only one version of Debian listed as supported platform for MediaAgent installation. To make it worse it is Debian 9.x which is pretty old already and currently partially, but soon to be completely EOShttps://www.debian.org/releases/stretch/ Is it just a oversight in BOL?Are newer versions on Debian like v10.x and 11.x supported as MediaAgent platforms? If anyone could share some information that would be great.

Cannot add DAG nodes

Hi,we create new client (Exchange DAG) and the discovery works fine. But the discovered member servers are not available. They are greyed out and I cannot select any of them. Our AD User accout is correctly configured. Any ideas?  Thank you.

E-Mail Alerting

Hi All, we had the challange that we need to configure the MFA for the enviroment. So We add to every commvault account an mail adresse this had now the impact that all alerts will send automatacilly.  Is there any possibility to disable mail notfication for a list of users or group ?  Change settings for all Allerts is not an option also chaniging the mail adress is not an option.

Remove default subclient Policy

Hi Folks, I have created a new Subclient policy for taking only office files backup.but when i associated this to my clients. They now have two policies one is default and other is new which i created and this created a failed backup job for the default policy. I am not able to remove that default from policy , how can i resolve this?

Can't create Failover group

Hi, I can’t seem to create a failover groups.I’ve created a Replication group and the replication is working, I can even do a test, planned and unplanned failover. However when I try to create a failover group the VMs it says I don’t have any VMs under the requisites. Thanks for the help,HA

INITRD files filling up /tmp folder on Linux when 1-Touch is enabled

Have a particular Linux server that I’ve enabled 1-Touch.  It is creating a folder INITRD in /tmp, and a file “initrd” in /tmp as well.  I presume this is part of the 1-Touch process, as I can see in the sr.log file references to the INITRD folder.  I was wondering if this is something that the backup process should clean up after it is done, or if there is a way to specify a different “tmp” folder for this operation.Also, in the sr.log I see “rm -f /tmp/initrd.img” but not “rm -f /tmp/initrd”.  The file that is left in /tmp has no .img extension.

Synthetic Full vs Full for SQL DB backup

Hello,Im looking for best practices about MS SQL DB backup with the following requirements:Full DB backup / per day Log backups every 10’I see from Command Center, that the “default” Plan is to have Synthetic Full, Incremental and Log backups.Whats the best practice to start with? I was thinking to leave only the Synthetic Full backup once a day and the Log backup every 10’. And delete the incremental backup from Schedule.    Is this enough ? Thank you in advance!
