CommServe Windows 2012R2 support

Hi all, I have a question about the OS requirements for the CommServe. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/2801_commserve_server_system_requirements_windows_01.html Windows 2012(R2) is not listed anymore, so I suppose it is not supported anymore for the CommServe. However, the note directly above the table says “The Commvault software fully supports the most recent version of an operating system, until the vendor ends support.”. Windows 2012R2 is Supported by Microsoft until October 10, 2023. So, is Windows 2012R2 still supported for the CommServe, or not?And if not, why does the note suggest it is? Thanks for clarifying. :-)

Commserve DR restore using command line

Hi All, We are trying to restore the Commserve DB manually on another server using the CSrecovery assistant tool (Command line). The destination CS has exactly same commvault version and hotfix applied. but when we run below command :CSRecoveryAssistant.exe -operation Recovery -skipdumpthen we get error that version on source and destination is not same. Please suggest

Google mail backup - oauth id

Hi, I have a case where customer is preventing user access using IMAP/POP to Google mail. Since Commvault is using IMAP to download e-mails it cannot work unless customer will enable IMAP access. There is a way in Google to do this selectively, specifically it can be narrowed to Oauth client IDs. I’m not sure if Commvault cloud app client uses Oauth at all, but I kind of wish for it.So my question is this: does Commvault cloud app client have any Oauth ID which a customer may use to restrict IMAP access for Commvault only? If so, where can it be found?

When I want to backup Exchange online, Sharepoint online, Ondrive and teams do I need 4 access nodes? There is little data in ondrive and teams can I use the same access node?

MS SQL Transaction Logs not expiring even though Retain Until time has passed

I have a storage policy for MS SQL backups. The retention is 21 days, but the transaction log backups do not expire after 21 days. I run the Data Retention Forecast report and it shows those log backups are not expiring because of SQL LOG RULE. I’ve read the documentation and none of it seems to apply. I have other storage policies for SQL and this isn’t an issue. This is the only storage policy with this behavior. Anyone have any ideas of what to check?

Lots of failure in DDB Verification Jobs and "Complete with failures" in DR Jobs

Noob alert! Hi everyone, I fear our DR damaged or our "Storage policies\CommServeDR" Policy is misconfigured, because since a month, the DDB Verification Job are constantly failing. Short resume/background: 1)We store our Backups and DR in a Network-Storage. Our Commvault Version is 11.25.28. 2)I tried backing up and restoring files, and it works. I did test DR restore (In March) using this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H4w2CYdf4c).3)As always users can still run backups, restore data, etc. but we get lots DDB-Verification failures and DR "Completes" but with errors.4)In Commcell, if you try to browse to our Network DR folder(Commcell\Control Panel\Maintenance\DR Backup\"Back up Metadata to this folder"), we get the following message "incorrect password or unknown username to selected access path" I checked the credentials and also check if server can reach the Path. Uninstalling or repairing Commvault agent on remote laptops?

Unfortunately due to the way we work some of our colleagues only connect laptops to VPN for a few hours each week at random times. I’ve found many of our laptops with corrupted Commvault agent installations, which I am trying to repair using SCCM. I have tried deploying a job from the Commcell to uninstall or repair, but I’ve not had any luck getting that to connect with these laptops so falling back on SCCM. The best way I can think of resolving these issues, is to use “setup.exe /uninstall /silent” and then once uninstalled deploy the software again. This is working to remote the software from the laptops I am testing on, but it is not working to retire the laptop in the Commcell/Commserve as the colleagues don’t have permissions on Commcell.  Is there a way to embed credentials into an XML and reference that in the uninstall?

Need Guidance / Opinions on Version Upgrade From v11.22.57

v11.22.57 has reached end of life. I’m looking for some help on where to go from here. Here is the response from CV support:“We have version 11.24 which is a long-term feature Release and the latest 11.26 which is a short-term feature release.”I took a look at the newsletter for new features and they both have some good stuff. I’m wondering if anyone has any good or bad experience from upgrading from 11.22.57 to 11.24 or 11.26?Thanks

HyperScale-X: Mgmt and Data-Protection network traffic separation

We have the requirement in our company that all Mgmt interfaces/IP’s must be protected by a firewall. For HSX this includes the IP where sshd, http Admin GUI is running. But this seems not to be possible in our setup.We can not protect the DP network with firewall as there will also be backup traffic. So we decided to used 2 different VLAN’s on one of the two LACP channels.Overall we have 3 VLANs/networks configured on 2 LACP channels. 2 VLANs are configured on a trunk.Storage-Pool: not routed - no problem - on LACP 1 with 2 x 25G Data-Protection: should be used for communication with other Commvault servers and clients to back up - on LACP 2 with 2 x 25G Mgmt: used for sshd / http - on LACP 2 with 2 x 25G But according to documentation for Reference Architecture only one network can be routable. In our case both Mgmt and DP must be routable. I added some Linux policy routing rules and they worked perfectly fine until the GUI installer was started (via browser after basic network confi

Hello.The Commserve server you are currently using has Commserve version 11 Servicepac8 installed (OS is Windows 2016)Error message 'Error: Failed to install IIS Server Roles 2012 (IIS Server Roles 2012) with error code 0x80070422.' occurred during Commvault SerivcePack 20 upgrade.IIS 10.0 is currently installed on that server, and the Windows update service is running normally.Is there a way to install IIS Server Roles 2012 separately?Or if there is another solution, please share it.Thank you.

File System Backups completing with errors

File System Backup completing with errors :-The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process . logs have been attached for reference  Troubleshooting done :- a) Restarted Commvault & VSS Services on Client Machine  As per logs there are multiple file extensions so if exclusions are to be setup , it would be global ones or specific to client

Intellisnap snapshot never pruned because SP_ snapshot is "busy".

Dear Community,How could we explain why SP_xxxx snapshot became the relationship snapshot of a snapvault destination ? Of course, this one cannot not be deleted.Error message on logs : This Snapshot copy is currently used as a reference Snapshot copy by one or more SnapMirror relationships. Deleting the Snapshot copy can cause future SnapMirror operations to fail. Best regards,Gilles

Oracle duplicate - Target user instance is empty.

Hi,I am trying to duplicate Oracle DB from production to test server, but when I pick all the options and go to script preview I get this: I don’t really understand what is the problem, I’ve checked my oracle instance configuration in Commvault and either ORACLE USER in general tab or connect string in details tab fields are set on both the source database (target instance) and target database (auxilary instance). How to modify well known filetypes associated with Content Library

Hi Everybody,I need to modify the associated well known filetypes in Content Library but couldn’t find any information on how to do this. Some associations do not work for me the way they are associated. Also need to add additional filetypes like e.g. heic or rmvb.Does anybody know how to modify this?

Lotus Domino Authentication requirements

Good afternoon I have two quick questions. We will be testing Domino DB backups for a customer. I can’t seem to find anything regarding any user accounts required to access the DB’s for backup/restore.Does Domino not use any accounts for authentication to the DB?I also see Domino V12 is not supported by Comvmvault yet. Does this mean that the backup process will fail or will it work, but isn’t supported.Thanks,Mauro

Unable to restore from my oldest synth fulls, tells me index is being rebuilt?

Couldn’t find anything in a web search for this exact error, so before I create a support ticket, I wanted to get forum moderator eyes on this.Background: we take weekly synthetic fulls of our daily incremental jobs. Then at the beginning of each month, we look back 2 months ago, and age out any synthetic fulls that are not the last one of that that month. This way, we should have a single end-of-month synthetic full backup for each month, starting 2 months ago and going 12 months, after that point we age out and expire the oldest synth fulls.Problem: a user asked me for a folder from 11 months ago. No problem, I think - that’s what our old synth fulls are for.We’re using the Windows File Agent, so I “show backup history” on the subclient, scroll down to the bottom of the list, right click the synthetic full for June 26, 2021, and hit “browse and restore”I immediately get an error in the browser: “No items found in the index, possibly index is being rebuilt. Hi I have a customer that has linux and aix hosts in their environment and they have lots of small files within these 2 filesystems. Currently , they have HDS G500 as their underlying storage. As they are experiencing slow backup and restoration for their current veritas solution , hence i decided to propose intellsnap as part of the competitive take out value proposition.We know that intellisnap helps to create app aware snapshots. IntelliSnap extends beyond just creating or deleted snapshots/clones. Secondary operations are automatically mounted to a proxy server which will mount the snapshots/clones for further processing, whether that is further indexing or cataloging of the data or creating longer term copies of the data to deduplicated disk, cloud copies, or tape. Automatic Control Host selection for a Dell EMC Unity

I added a file server as described and the control host that currently hosts the file server. Due to a malfunction, however, the file server was moved to the other control host shortly afterwards. This caused problems with the backup.
