How can we have a pop up box once we submit a SQL restore, just like how we get for an Oracle Restore
Why isn't there a pop up/dialog box for SQL restores, confirming the source and destination? This would be really helpful to review the restore before we submit to avoid any human errors? How shall we enable this? or request for this?
Hi,We use Commvault as a multi-tenant backup solution for several customers. I created a User Group for a specific tenant, gave it the Browse and Restore role on their own entity, made it member of the CV_Restricted_Visibility group and hide all items in the Command Center Navigation Pane except Protect (some sub items) and Jobs. Meaning of this is, I want the tenant to be able to perform restores (and nothing more) / use the Command Center as a “Restore Portal” only. This worked fine but...I now see this tenant gets a “License and Registration” pop-up because we as the service provider need to renew our license within 2 months. I don't want the tenant to see this. The pop-up contains a link which can even be clicked and followed by the tenant with only these limited rights! Is there a possibility to hide this “License and Registration” pop-up from the tenant? Thanks!

Hi, I’m struggling to understand the managed disk space feature. As I understand it will keep data on disk longer than retention requirements if there’s enough space on the disk library. But does that go for all storage policies? For our normal storage policies using deduplication then the managed disk space is not active in the retention tab. And it’s not possible to activate. So does that mean that all jobs in this storage policy is not affected by the managed disk space feature? Or will jobs still be affected? Meaning that we might have old backup images on disk that actually should have been pruned?Ideally I would like to ditch this feature to be fully in control of what is on disk as I don’t like the idea of having some data on disk underneath the hood or so to say. But as I understand it’s not possible to disable the feature as that’s how the data aging process works. But as much as possible I would like to limit the amount of extra backup images lingering around.Currently we star
Hello All, We have a custom need of performing frequent backup for every 10 mins once to secure some critical information . The jobs are setup and running , but only one job runs per subclient hence only 1 active jobs but a lot of queued jobs in the queue. Is there a way to handle this or suggestions to overcome the queued jobs ? Commvault version used is V11.24.60 , where backup are store on HPE apollo Hyperscale X ref architecture.
Background:Apparently the “Commserve_DR_Disk” and Primary/Secondary copies are created automatically during certain CommVault installation/setup steps….We are attempting to retire an old disk library and there’s still some data on it that commvault will not age off (I may have to create a ticket for some of it). I could force/delete it but I’m also trying to have it clean up “nicely/cleanly”. One of the larger blocks of data appears to be some DR backups that are attached to the ‘Primary” copy. I did some digging by running the “Data Retention Forecast and Compliance Report” and it appears that this data (~10 TB) is hanging around due to “Managed Disk Space Option Enabled for Prunable Job on Disk Media”. I checked the Primary copy and yep, the “Enable managed Disk Space for Disk Library” has been checked. i assume tahts teh setting causing the extended retention.Questions:Is “Enable managed Disk Space for Disk Library” checked by default by commvault when it creates/builds the Commse
Hi, The service account for AppAware SQL backup is required to be Local Admin in the Database Server as well as have the sysadmin role in SQL. To me it is not clear if the requirement for Local Admin is to be permanent and for other operations than just the initial software/agent installation. For one customer the service account was automatically removed from Local Admin whitin 24hrs, and the backups still runs fine. I would suppose that once the agent is registered additional software and updates are pushed by Commvault through the local system as for all clients. Reason for asking is that the customer needs to request that service accounts for AppAware are added in the automatic AD-admin configuration, and they would want to know for which purpose. To summarise, is the local admin needed for anything else but the initial software installation in the AppAware feature for SQL? Regards,Patrik

Oracle Archive log backup question for the experts.. Is there a difference between enabling the Delete Archive log option in the subclient versus enabling it in the schedule policy? Do I need to enable both or if I am using a schedule policy I can enable it there and it will also do the job. Thanks for any advice provided
Curious as the documentation around enabling or requiring passkeys for restores seems to all be for MSP, multi-company CommCells. But the Security Assessment report “recommends” enabling this and apparently doesn’t distinguish. So I thought “self, let’s do this” which turns into a series of rabbit holes: Can’t just require Passkey for restores, it says “ Operation failed. Admin has not allowed users to set passkey.” I didn’t really want to make this overly complex but this appears to be by design. Conceptually I think the workflow requiring authorization to do a restore makes more sense, masters get to bypass this authorization requirement though if reading it correctly.
There’s another very lengthy post on building LiveSync with floating names where the suggestion was “don’t do it”, then branched into more complex things like separating webservices from the CS, etc. It’s closed for replies now though. So, we have 3 CommCells all doing LiveSync but no floating names for the CS. We’re needing to refresh many of these servers so my thought would be to implement the floating CS name since it’s overdue, but I’m a bit puzzled since most documentation seems to speak to setting this up “at install” time, not post, many years after the fact. Is https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/104936_setting_up_failovers_using_floating_commserve_name.html relevant for refreshes and such?Ideally sure I’d like to split the webservers out from the CS’s per best practices but given the amount of potential change here (new CS’s both primary and standbys), new locations on network (new IPs), new OS’s, etc., where’s the logical place to begin - move things via refresh
Hi all,we have successfully set up a Vault Tracker Policy and there are a couple of tapes to be exported in view media review. However, if I click on run now and check Actions under VaultTracker option, I can see the action with the running status but nothing is being done next.Do you have any idea what I am missing? Of course, we have marked Auto Acknowledge under Vault Tracker Policy Properties. Is there any log or additional settings which needs to be adjusted?
Hi, more time when server are fully loaded, when i restore guest file from a vm backup and on restore process i use DOWNLOAD from web console and i have “error” session disconnect. In this situation the web browser not download restored file, but from console i see restore process complete.i suppose that are the timeout of commandcenter session but the file processed are store in a temporary folder of commserve? Thanks
Hi Team!We have an unexpected growth in backup data. The data in the source remains without growing, but in the backup there is a giant growth.Almost all the data is Oracle Database, and we need to get some reports of this growth. How can I get reports of before and after this growth? Thanks in advance!
Hello Commvault,Is there any option to proceed ad-hoc backup for a specific Azure VM?When I try to do this, I see that Commvault starts a backup for all Azure VM’s that are members in the group! So, Im looking a workaround to backup only a specific Azure VM, not all it’s group. Please for your feedback,Nikos
Hi,we have an old Citrix XenServer cluster with 2 VMs.On this cluster there was a Commvault proxy running for backing up the VMs in the cluster. Now it seems that the storage have a problem. Actually rebuild is running but i don’t know if that works.Last backups running fine…..but is it possible to restore a VM without proxy? Filebrowse works fine and i can restore files and folders but not my complete VM.Any ideas how i can restore this VM? Actually the VM backup is on my B2D store.RegardsDennis

I am backing up a cluster, but each cluster drive has its own subclientAll the other drives on their own subclient are backing up fine. There are 2 errors I see.Process(72) - Could not get SIDB folders; cannot exclude SIDB folders from this backupERROR CODE [17:49]: Failed to further divide the collect files. Possible reasons: nonexistent path/file, hardware problems or full disk. The job for the cluster subclient run for over 30 hours before failing. The check readiness indicates there is no error on the sublient,Anyone have ideas on what logs I should look at the find the root cause.
Hello, I have problems with recovering information from an email, which needs to be transferred to another computer but the computer that has that backup is no longer online but it still has its information, but when I want to send the recovery of the email The option to send it to another team is not displayed, but if I try it with another team it can be sent to another team. In this part I do not know if it is because the equipment is turned off. I appreciate your attention and I will read your comments
