Dr backup

Hello,Dr backup is configured with the below location.\\ip\h$\Commserve_DR This is basically a Media Agent (windows) and in H drive I am storing the metadata to this location.When I click on the browse option and give the username and password, it says incorrect username or password. I have given the correct username and password but still its giving error. How can I get the correct username and password?There is one option to change the username and I did that also but still its not working. Also Upload backup metadata to Commvault cloud - It creates a air-gap copy of metadata but where it exactly store? Is there any cost of storing the metadata on Commvault cloud. How to access this metadata whenever required? Also Upload backup metadata to Cloud library - It creates a air-gap copy of metadata. I can select any Cloud library but where it is exactly store? How to access the metadata? Retention of drbackup is 5 days so same applicable to Commvault Cloud and Cloud library ?

Index V2 Backup - Can I force a V2 Indexing Checkpoint (Consolidation) at a time of my choosing

HiI’d like to ‘guarantee’ a Full copy of the V2 Index Database at a time just after the end of month full backups have run/completedThe purpose being to send the End of Month Full backups to a specific ‘box’ of tapes, that are sent to Iron Mountain, but within that Box is a standalone Index Database backupMainly to achieve a standalone ‘DR’ set of tapes, with no requirement to have any ‘copies’ of the Index Database on disk or any requirement to reconstruct the index ‘from tape’Can I manually ‘force’ this to then get a ‘complete’ Index Database, which is then sent to Tape

Deleting subclients: does it cause jobs/backups to be deleted or is it ok to freely delete subclients that are not needed anymore??

I don’t have links, and I don’t want to call anyone out even if I did :) but I’ve read/heard/seen 2 answers this this and am wondering if this applied to all subclients, or there are exceptions, or caveats to deleting subclients. Which is “true”, assuming you already had some backups existing for a subclient/backups set/application?You can delete subclients all day long, nothing is lost in terms of existing job history/restorability. The backups/backup jobs/data/references/etc are not associated with the subclient(s) but instead are associated with the backup set that the subclients are in (meaning: the subclients are “children” of the backup set). When you delete a subclient, it is still ‘visible and accessible for restores” vis the backupset backup historyORDeleting subclients causes loss of the backup job data. Once subclients are deleted, you cannot go back to view jobs or perform restores. deleting a subclient will remove it from the backupset. A deleted subclient and all its

We never backed up the client with MongoDB and want to remove it from the client and just leave the File System only.Question, if I remove the MongoDB software, will it prompt me to uninstall the Media Agent, Storage Accelerator and IntelliSnap or do I have to remove them one by one ? Backup of virtual machines separated into Data and Index on two different tapes in the Tape library

Hello,I have Commserve backup server simpana version 11.20.85, I have configured setup for backup four virtual machine (VMware virtualization)I noticed that the Data and Index backup of four virtual machine is placed on two separate tapes on the Tape library. This is a limitation because I have two drives on the Tape library.If I have a backup that is performed on another drive, the backup of these four virtual machines cannot be performed simultaneously.Where is it configured, perhaps in the Storage policy or Schedule policy, that the Data and Index backups are placed on two separate tapes?Best regards,Elizabeta

How can I check alert for no backup last 180 min separate FULL and LOG separate ?

Hi,I have one alert for full and transaction logs backup.I want to separate this alert for full backups and transaction logs ? I want to create 2 alert for full and transaction log backup.I use the same instance to backup logs transaction and full. Now I use alert called 'Client not backed up for X minutes' (https://cloud.commvault.com/webconsole/softwarestore/store.do#!/137/683/8936), and I don't have parameter to choose ‘Full’ and ‘logs transaction’ backup.How can i do it ? brAleAle

Hi All, we had the challange that we need to configure the MFA for the enviroment. So We add to every commvault account an mail adresse this had now the impact that all alerts will send automatacilly. Is there any possibility to disable mail notfication for a list of users or group ? Change settings for all Allerts is not an option also chaniging the mail adress is not an option.

Slow data restore from tape .

Hi,I need some advice, I am restoring data from LTO8 tapes after an incident. Lots of small files on NTFS share. Job speed is dramatically slow, Here are some jobs from different drives in the library:Average throughput 22.954147 GB/hr.Load(Read: 90.91%, Write: 3.78%, Network: 5.29%)Average throughput57.299713 GB/hrLoad(Read: 81.5%, Write: 3.15%, Network: 15.34%)Why ? Determining RTO

In practice we see many of our customers determining RTO’s based on paper exercises before even validating what it takes to live up to the RTO SLA agreement. In case organization refer to RTO-0 than they refer to high availability which can be achieved using for example clustering technologies combined with sync. mirror storage or application with built-in capabilities relying in a distributed backend. However it doesn’t protect in case you run into cyber security threats, malicious intent or human failure.Now you have to rely on your backup copy to recovery to a specific point in time. Now let’s forget the time that it takes before the actual recovery process starts which is easily forgotten, but what actually adds-up to the entire recovery time. Let’s not take into account the MTD which stand for the maximum tolerated downtime as well but let’s focus on the RTO definition within Commvault. Monitoring VSA proxies through Commvault alerts?

Hello,Through the Commcell Console, it is possible to monitor the online status of Media Agens through the alert “Configuration > MediaAgents” then by choosing the option “MediaAgent went offline”.But since we don’t need to install the MediaAgent package to create a VSA proxy, it is not possible to monitor their online status through the same alert.I tried to find the same feature by looking into “Configuration > Clients” and “Configuration > Client Group” but I didn’t find any option to monitor the online status of the VSA proxies.Do you have any advise or method to monitor their online status?Thank you very much in advance.

how is license formed

Hey everyone.our Commvault FR24 customer has purchased a number of cloud licenses based on the “active users” in their tenant admin. Our understanding is that “active users” is what is counted. Period.However, we see that way more licenses are being consumed (about 30%). Only SPO and O4B are in use and backed up, EO is not used.In the CV web based license report there are licensed users listed for OneDrive, that have a backup size of 0 Bytes. These unique users are not “active” users in M365. They do not consume O4B storage, in fact O4B is disallowed in M365 for these users. When the backup is browsed we see one top folder (My Drive) with no content.There is only M365, no other SaaS like SFDC. My understanding is that a for all M365 workloads one unique user consumes one license.Is there a reliable and understandable way to find out beforehand, how many user based licenses need to be purchesed? That would include a way to show that a user that has been deactivated for > 1 year, whic

We are seeing“We're sorry, something went wrong. Please try again. Invalid Username or Password”when trying to access the site. There is no opportunity to enter the password. It goes straight to the error message after entering the username.

anyone notice increase in cluster failover time after installing the commvault agent?

We’ve a couple of windows sql clusters (2012/2019) and noticed that failover time increases from a few seconds (max 10-15) to at least a minute once the commvault cluster agent is added to the cluster.I’ve opened a case on this but would like to hear if anyone else out here has experienced this… best regardsMirco

Oracle table recovery - unpredictable instance size

Hi everyone, CV supports table level recovery for Oracle database.But the problem is that we’re not able to assess the datafile size needs to be restored.So table recovery can cause unexpected issue like lack of space while doing a restoration. It says all related tablespaces are restored if the tablespace includes table to recover is not self-contained. EXECUTE DBMS_TTS.TRANSPORT_SET_CHECK('sales_dept', TRUE);SELECT * FROM TRANSPORT_SET_VIOLATIONS; So we performed below procedure/command to validate how many tablespaces are dependent.For our customer’s prod environment, only two tablespaces need to be restored for table recovery on top of the targeted tablespace. But the result was totally different what we expected.A table recovery required almost all of the tablespace restore to an auxiliary instance. Why CV restore so many tablespace just for a table recovery?(Oracle DBA says there’s no reason these tablespaces need to be restored. For “Recover table” command since 12c requires onl
