SQL query to get the client, subclient, SP, retention

Hello team, Customer runs a commcell like following. Client  - cvltclnt  Subclient   - cvltclnt_file_backup  Storage Policy (Disk)   - SamsungDedupe  (retention 10days, Full)   - SamsungDedupe_Inc  (retention 5days, Incremental) Customer is using this option “Incremental Storage Policy” for incremental backup on Storage Policy. And they want to get this configuration info using SQL query.What table/view should customer do a query to get this information? Client Subclient Storage Policy retention days Schedule Backup Level cvltclnt cvltclnt_file_backup SamsungDedupe 10 FS_FULL Full cvltclnt cvltclnt_file_backup SamsungDedupe 5 FS_INC Incremental  I’ve tried to find the identifier for “Incremental Storage Policy” option in the table/view on MSSQL but I couldn’t. If I have to join several tables/views to get the value then kindly let me know how to make a query. customer wants to get the values for subclient, storage policy, retention and backup level base

Questions about configuring intellisnap for NetApp and Oracle

Hi experts,I got a question about Oracle DB backup and NetApp Snapshot from a customer.Customer plans to perform the Oracle Backup using Intellisnap for NetApp iSCSI LUN.I checked the requirements for NetApp Storage in the documentation web.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.25/expert/33744_system_requirements_for_netapp_storage_array.htmlIs there anything they need to do before creating a Volume of Oracle data on NetApp Storage?I'd like to know if there are any special pre-works that need to be done on NetApp storage.Best RegardsKim KK

Software cache

Hello,We are currentlly on version 11.22.57 and palnning to upgrade to 11.24.34. Download and Sync of software cache ususally takes time ( around an hour ),  so would like to save time and download it in advance. plan is to upgrade the CS (using a local package) and than push the upgrade to all MA’s from GUI.Is there any risk in download & Sync the software cache ( On CS and Remote cache on Hyperscale nodes ) with a higher version than what is currentlly installed ? Will it create some conflict with what is curentlly in the software cache ? Thanks

Error in downloading package

Hello,Trying to download installation package ( 11.24 )  by running  CV installer file from our Commserve server ( Windows)Download is failing with below error:Invalid URL [https://cloud.commvault.com/CVUpdates/11.0.0/BUILD80/SP24/CUConfiguration.xml]. Pure FlashBlade(11 blade) vs HPE Hyperscale X(3 node dl380)

Hi everyone,We are looking to refresh our primary storage, moving on from a Nimble SF100. As I start to evaluate the two I was hoping I might gain some insight here. Looking for best all around performance with emphasis on restore. Anyone have anything to say good or bad about either? Anyone evaluated a comparison of the two? Our frontend storage is a Pure Flash array. The Flashblade doesn't offer fiber channel, which is what we use for connectivity today.Our Oracle DBA is taking about issues backing up the larger DBs. I see there is a white paper for rapid backup and restore with Pure FA frontend, Pure FlashBlade backup library and intillesnap. We might have to explore that as her consultants are saying commvault can’t pull off the protection much longer as the dbs grow. They are currently just using the client side agent for backup. Thanks for your time!

Admincenter move -> customisation lost

Hi, We are moving our admincenter to a new server. (using the procedure, the DM2 & cvcloud dbs).It took the reports, etc, so all looks ok.But we noticed that on the new admincenter, we lost our tenant customisation. So we are missing for examples the logos for each tenant. How can we also migrate that?

cannot backup oracle client

i trying to backup oracle client and working fine once after that got error as in attached log to be noted :- all network connections between CS,MA,client are fine - service account and permissions are set as required - i changed cvd port because there are services working on same port but still having error

Hi AllWe recently upgraded our commserve to 11.25 and since then the commcell / commserve server / backups are slowThe response time when accessing or doing anything on the commcell is dead slow.Anyone facing this issue currently ? Any thoughts ?

Backup Teams

Hi,  I have a question during teams backup. I would like to backup Teamsa's resource, but in the most optimal way, i.e. so that the CV detects new groups or containers indicated by us.We don't want to backup all users.How best to do it.Please help.

Commvault media server keep DDB and Index. If the media server crash, will lost all restore capability.1, how to protect DDB and Index on media server? what is DR process for media server? 2, shall we replicate Commvault media server DDB and Index from source to target regularly? want to bring up target media server immediately if source server down.

Ransomware Honeypot detection

i only have about 50 physical servers - all have CV agents - whereas i have about 500 virtual machines that get backed up via a vcenter vm backup.  Question about the honeypot detection … do the 500 virtual machines get detected for ransomware in any sort of fashion or what is the guidance there?  Thanks!

Encryption Question

When encryption is enabled on storage-policy or client or sub-client :Does the data is encrypted on source clients and then encrypted data is transferred on network and stored as it is in backup library OR the unencrypted data is transferred over network and encryption happens at media agent side before storing the data in library .

Another user with email [%email address%] already exists.

Our version is 11.25.11.We recently had an employee move on and wanted to modify the Email ID in the User Properties dialog box for a service account and received an error stating:Another user with email [email address goes here] already exists.Is this a bug? We do have a couple of separate user accounts configured with the same email id so not sure why we are unable to modify?

Incremental Backup PST don t working

Hi, I will be very appreciate for help. The problem is with the PST file when using Windows File system agent.After executing a full backup job, the PST file is not backed up in successive increments, despite the daily modification of the file. The client tried to turn off the application in front of the backup window, restarted the computer and the agent was updated as well.From the subclinet side, the settings are as follows, although the PST file is not backed up every day during incremental jobs.Greetings,

what are the current best settings for encouraging an MA to prune as fast as possible?

I have one MA that seems to spend all day every day pruning.the opposite MA seems to finish after a few hours every day.all things being equal apart from maybe backup load what settings can be applied to increase pruning?

Index Cache

Index Cache (V2).Yesterday I moved an IndexCache to another drive due to space issues. The index was at the time 293GB in size on a 300GB drive. I moved it with the Workflow “ChangeIndexCacheConfig” to a new destination with 1TB of free space.Today when I check the index today it is 440GB in size, so it growed almost 50% over night.Why would it grow this much? Just normal incremental backups was run over night? No additional clients added or any changes made to clients being backed up by the MA.Index cache settings as displayed below.  BR Henke

Hello CV community,I’ve been struggling with throttling issues when archiving EXO and was wondering about your experience in terms of performance.Could you please share your configuration and the stats of archiving jobs, so I have an idea about what to expect?How many access nodes? How many APP ID’s? How many service accounts? Expansion of one HSX node to existing HSX environment

Hi team, we are in  a process of adding one more node and new node is imaged with 2.2 version where as existing three nodes are in HSX 2.1 version.which option would be perfect,1.do we need to downgrade new node to hsx 2.1 or2. upgrade existing nodes from 2.1 to 2.2.  if yes, is it ok to just hedvig os upgrade to latest version using below cmd or is there any other procedure to follow. a. cvupgradeos.py -upgrade_hedvig_onlyb. cvupgradeos.py
