What is the benefit to use intellisnap on a Netapp storage VS use VSA VM and ask Vcenter to make snapshot on each VM and mount the vmdk on VM proxy to make the backup (hot add).

It’s not clear for me thanks.

@Bloopa it all depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you can provide more info on what your goal is it would help to share the differences.

To start Intellisnap with NetApp is just fantastic and it leverages built in capabilities within the NetApp Array but controlled and managed by commvault such as snapshots and snapvaults. When using intellisnap with VCenter you would have a small limitation on the filter options considering that the filters would only apply to your Backup copy.

When running a VSA Backup (streaming) you have a lot more flexibility on the filter options right on the agent and you are essentially backing up the disks presented to the VM rather than the datastore located on a NetApp Array.

There are plenty of scenarios to be explored honestly and it depends on what you are trying to achieve. Im sharing the documentation below but feel free to share more info about your goal.\
