We make daily incremental backups and weekly full backups with the retention period of 4 weeks. We wanted to do a yearly backup with a retention period of 3 years and should not impact the retention of daily incremental / weekly full backups. Please advise the documentation which gives idea for such requirement. Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Vijay

Hi @VijayK , thanks for the question (and welcome to our community)!

This is what you want to look at:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/121650_extended_retention_rules_01.html

Using Extended Retention, you can set the Yearly Fulls to be held for 3 years.  All other backups will follow the basic retention.

One thing to note, the most recent backup per subclient is always considered the last of the Year/Month/etc.

You can select First backup of the time period and not have to worry about that, though (since the first backup of the year will always be the first).

Let me know if that is what you were looking for!
