For the most part, we use VMware… in our 2 Data Centers

We have Remote Branch Offices (17), that will be getting new Physical Servers, that will run M$ Hyper-V on them.  We will have 2 Virtual Servers under each Hyper -V Server.  One of the VM’s will be running Servers roles (DFS, SCCM distro points, and DHCP).  The other will be for File storage (user and Groups files).

From the CommServe Console, I have installed the CV Client on the Physical server.

Looking for High level planning on how to back up this Model….

Do I install the CV Client on the VM’s too?

Hi @Jeremy Fisher

Looking at the type of VM's I wouldn't install agents unless you want to restore granular object in for example an AD.

For the VM's I would install the VSA agent as described in Hyper-V section:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/31354_microsoft_hyper_v.html

And backup the VM's with default settings assuming you are using the Hyper-V integration services for the VM's.

Depending on your connection to the Remote Branch Offices you can transfer the back-up's directly to a central Media Agent or create a local intake scenario where the Media Agent resides onsite (with storage) and aux copies them to a central site after the backup.

Are there any specifics you are looking for?
