I’m fairly new to Commvault, and I’m responsible for our SAP for Oracle backups.  I am going through our systems and I’m trying to determine what the benefits/tradeoffs of a “Selective Online” vs Full Online backups.  There isn’t much data about what is/isn’t backed-up between the two options, if any. We currently run one full backup per week and arclogs run every 15 min to 1 hour depending on the data/usage.  We backup to disk with a secondary offsite disk aux copy and Metallic aux copy.  No tapes.

Thanks!

Hi @Ike

Selective copy is a self content backup used for longer retention. All the data and logs are retained together while using a selective copy with extended retention

Additional information could be found @ https://intdocresource2.gp.cv.commvault.com/2022e/expert/11727_selective_online_full_backups.html

Let me know in case of any other questions.
