SAP HANA backup failed after upgrade FR24

Badge +2

Hi Community,

I have a question about backup SAP HANA. I have upgraded commserve and media agent from sp6 to sp24, after upgrade completed Commvault can’t backup SAP HANA.

In the Job log file detail :

“ Reserving resources for SAP HANA.

Resource reservation request start time=[]

Allocating stream

allocationGenericResource() - Failed to create shared memory. error code =28

freeOpenHandles - deleteSharedMemory failed, handel=-1, Ptr=0 returnCode = 22

Fail to request jobmanager.

The required resource could not be allocated; Please retry your job later. “

Please advise me what should I do for this issue.

Thank you

Hi @Nitinan

This error indicates the system is running low on system resources. I am doubtful if this has any relation with the Commvault upgrade on the CS and MA. Which SP the HANA server is running?

Also, can you run the following commands on the HANA server where you’re facing this issue and share the output?

cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmall

cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmmni

ipcs -m | wc -l

ipcs -m

In case "ipcs -m" result in large output, we can redirect it to a file and get the file.

Thanks,

Sunil-

Hi Sunil

Which SP the HANA server is running?

Current SP on SAP HANA is SP6. I’m not upgrade client agent on SAP HANA and currently CS and MA are SP24.

Hi @Nitinan

SP6 is pretty old release now. Please consider if you can upgrade your HANA agent also to SP24.

Also, please share the command outputs I asked for earlier.

Thanks,

Sunil-
