Hi,
on some VMs we get this error:
Warning Unable to quiesce guest file system during snapshot creation

We backup with Virtual Server Agent and use vSphere 7.0.3 with Commvault 11.28.44.

Thanks and Regards
Dennis

HI @Dennis ,

Is it working when taking a Snapshot + Quiesce from VMWare please?

Can you check our Article: https://kb.commvault.com/article/63085

Hi have test it on a Windows test VM.
Snapshot with Quiesce not possible.
After doing this “msg.snapshot.error-QUIESCING-ERROR” in vCenter Server (2069952) (vmware.com) (disable the VMWARE snapshot provider) it works on that machine.
What can causes this? Old VMWare Tools? Is the vmware snapshot provider the default provider on vsphere VMs?
I have some linux appliances with the same error. What can i do on that machines?

Old vmware tools can disrupt the quiescing process.
But there are several possible causes such as for example: to much activity on the VM resulting in a time out on the quiescing process. This needs to be analyzed per VM.

Regarding your linux appliances, often they modify the Linux Kernel and this doesn't always play nice with quiescing resulting in a crash consistent backup unless the appliance provider can provide the necessary compatibility, but I would check with the supplier.
