Correct order of virtual VSA SCSI Controller IDs for hotadd usage ?

Good morning,according to the BOL arcticle below, it is crucial to check the order of SCSI ID numbers used for a virtual VSA in VMware.HotAdd Transport for VMware (commvault.com)The IDs used in my environment are different to the IDs in the BOL article.Can someone tell me whether it is posible, that I ran into the described situation ?The high number (1184) mentioned in the article is assigned to the ethernet controller, while SCSI Port Numbers seem to be in ascending order also digit-wise.we’re also facing sporadic file access errors as described in the arcticle, each time for different VMs BRKlaus

MongoDB Intellisnap by proxy MA

Is it possible to use a Media Agent proxy for Intellisnap backup operations?Although I configure a proxy in the settings of the subclient, the backup continues to use the MongoDB nodes to take snapshots, instead the proxy configured.The storage is a NetApp.

Azure Restore | VM Power on and then Shutdown

Hi Guys, During an Azure VM Restore I noticed the VMs post restore gets powered on and shutdown even after the “Do not power on the virtual machine post restore” option is unchecked while restore. Why it happens ? Is it specific to Azure VMs only or this is same behavior for all the VM restores. Regards,Pank1988

Data verification job with S3 storage

Evening folksI am in the process of enabling data verification across our storage policies - some of our servers are EC2 instances with Commvault configured to backup directly to S3.I assume if I were to enable data verification in the above scenario I would incur further charges as Commvault would be reading data from the S3 bucket?Also, I just want to check my workings out is correct, or there about. If we are charged for using data verification in the above scenario - if, for example, the data verification job needed to verify 150GB worth of data my math would be 150GB (size of data) / 32MB (Block size that CV stores data in) / 1000 (S3 charges per 1000 requests) * price per 1000 READ requests? Many thanks

Is there a way to get a specific version of a workflow using the API?

I am attempting to clean up workflows in my environment, but I want to archive the code in case its necessary at some point in the future.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/49428_rest_api_get_workflow.html returns the workflows including all their versions.The workflow definitions can be grabbed using the workflow id, but I don’t see a want to get each version. Am I missing something? It there a way to get a list of the workflow ID for each version of a workflow? thanks.Chris.

Anyone using the additional setting "DontRenameVMClients" setting? When is it needed?

I noticed a VM names mismatch in the JavaUI and WebUI.VMs in the JavaUI sometimes have a different name in the WebUI.Commvault support says it is probably because of the additional setting on the CS: “https://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22DontRenameVMClients%22&id=7490” Unfortunately, it is not documented on our end why this is set on this particular CS.I would like to remove it, but would like to know when/why this setting should be used.Anyone? Thanks.

Convert VMware to Azure VM D: Drive Issues

Good day community!Maybe one of you encountered the issue and know how to resolve.We have a customer with VMware VMs that are backed up and that we need to restore as Azure VMs.But here is the problem. The customer VMware VMs have D: drives with data. When they are converted to Azure VMz, it fails, since Azure adds a D: drive to the VMs with the Windows pagefile on it. It does not seem like we can change the drive letter for those pagefile drives, but we can’t also change the drive letter on the VMware VMs since apps are referring to that drive letter. 😣Anyone encountered this and have an answer?Many thanks in advance.

VMware VM snapshot / image backup on AWS S3 Bucket

Hello,I need to understand following for customer requirement of backing up their Virtual Machines running on VMware Esxi  on-premise datacenter, on to the AWS S3 storage:Does Commvault Backup and Recovery support backup of VM snapshots / images directly on S3?. If yes, Does it compress backup data before sending it to S3?. If not, than is there an option like AWS EBS or only file system level backup supported?. What is the normal compression ratio one can estimate upon enabling the compression?.Appreciate your help.RegardsPranav

Are there any recommendations regarding the hard disk equipment of MediaAgents (disk storage)?

Hi together, I am planning a MediaAgent that has enough storage capacity to be my disk storage. Deduplication should be active, it is Back-end Size for Disk Storage Small (Up to 50TB).Are there any recommendations or requirements regarding the RPM of the backup disks? I did not find anything in the CommVault documentation, only the RPM recommendation for the OS/software disk.Thanks in advance for your help!

VM Replication - (Periodic Classic)

Hey all,I am looking at configuring Periodic Classic Replication for some VM’s running on VMware Vcenter 7.0.2.  Essentially I would like to run a replication job post backup from Cluster A to Cluster B in different locations.When Configuring through Command Center, selecting the VCenter and then selecting  ‘Actions’ on the VM Group and clicking ‘Configure Replication’ it takes me to the ‘Configure replication group’ page that states ‘There are no virtual machines available for replication. Please select another hypervisor or VM group.’I am unable to select any VM’s to add at this point.  The VM’s in this group are:Backed up and in schedule The VM Group uses a Tag in VMware to flag it for backup in the subclient The Destination is another cluster (in another site) in the same VCenter (though not got as far as selecting a destination) Streaming backups used for Primary Backup (No Hardware Snap) Version is 11.25.19 Both Clusters have access to backup data MA and Storage VCenter is online

o365 backup in deffrent Disk Storage

Hello,Im looking for best way to backup o365 services in different Disk Storage for users in same tenant.To be more clear, the requirement is some o365 users to be at Disk Storage1 (as backup repo) and some other users from the same tenant to be at Disk Storage2 (as backup repo).Im thinking to create a 2 X Exchange online app and 2 X OneDrive app, in order to assign different Plans (for backup repo). Is there any other way?

just upgraded to 11.28.x commcell "Event Viewer" no longer shows bkup jobs completed

Hello we just upgraded to 11.28 maintenance release 63 and I have noticed that the commcell EVENT VIEWER - ALL Events is no longer displaying “program-JobManager” backup jobs like it use to when we were on 11.24.x.   It does list in the event viewer when the DR jobs runs or if there is are fail logins etc but no longer displays the completed backup jobs.Backup jobs are running successful as I can in the “command center” they have completed successful Any thoughts on why this is happening.  Im still consider myself a rookie commvault user. ThanksBC

Retrieve all Job Phase failures

An MSP customer, there're a lot of alerts which send out mails whenever any of them detects phase errors, but sometimes the job itself got succeeded, also in this case it's quite difficult to look into the phase errors since the information would be scattered at detailed job results, events, alerts, etc. This query is created by a customer's requiest who want to track job **phase** errors at once, combining many information from various tables including event or error parameters.So some verbose informations there, but you can easily detect when the phase failures happened, like one of MAs is having connection issue and affecting mlutiple jobs. Here's the query, you can run it on CommServ DB, or creating customer reports on your Metrics Reporting could make your life easier.use commservSET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED;declare @tmp table ( jobid int ,starttime bigint ,endtime bigint ,messageid int ,occurred nvarchar(max) ,message nvarchar(max))insert into @tmpselect f.jo

Hyperscale X - intellesnap not preinstalled.. Why?

Both updated iso’s from commvault store for hyperscale x deploy do not have the intellesnap package preinstalled. Was this on purpose? I mean obviously it can be installed. - just seems like something that would be there. Just curious.

How to group subclients using subclient tags that are under Virtualization Client. (Amazon, Google Cloud Platform) to run Backup Summary report.

I want to classify certain subclients in a Virtualization client using tagI see that we can add tags at subclient levelFor ex: certain subclients would belong to Application : Group Asome are in Group B, some are in Group C  With this I want to run Backup summary report using that tags, there will be 3 reports each for Group A, B and C I don’t see an option to achieve this I’m not able to segregate/ select subclients in report using subclient tags. Also while creating client computer group , we can have automatic mapping with criteria Clients with tagsbut there is no option to create a group with subclients with tags
