Movinng Physical Server (Media Agent) from one location to another As Business Requested

Hi Good morning Team,In my environment we do have One Commserve two Media Agents ,the Two Media agents are Physical Window Boxes each media Agent associated 250 Clients machines each media agent having separate Libraries with two dedicated Media Paths which are conneted to Cmode Netapp storage ,now we have got request to move one of the media agent from current location to another location ( Lift and shift ) , so,as per my knowledge while lift and shift the media agent should be in maintenance mode and all the services will be disconnect from Commserve and start the movement , after reached the media agent to destination location as per the location we need to change the IP as per that location and bring back to the up the machine , then we need to start all the services from commserve and media agents . But still i need more steps to perform this activity as below so if you can help it may well and much appreciate before Moving what are the steps Follow ? what steps should we do with

Hi,I just have a quick question:What does this mean?“This feature is not supported when bootable partitions are on the disk arrays (snapable disk).”Does it mean that if LPARs boot from SAN, it is not supported and only booting from internal disks is supported? please advise. Thanks!Sergio

when will you support outlook 2016 or later for access nodes?

as we know the documentation still states:Verify that the destination client has Microsoft Outlook 64-bit 2010 or 2013 installed.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/110995_restoring_messages_to_pst_file_using_exchange_journaling.html (specifically what the current customer is asking about.) this version is going out of support in april 2023.https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/announcements/office-2013-ends-support-one-year we have several customer look to release the version.but we do not have any answer as to when a newer version will be supported. kind regards, Thos Gieskes.

tape data verification problem

Hi team.I have a question about data verification on sec tape copy: How to exclude a specific tape from the data verification process ? Or how to address problems as below:My setup is simple - primary copy on disk lib and secondary copy to LTO. Both copies are verified.From time to time I see a tape that generates a lot of CRC errors during data verification. The verification process takes a long time blocking tape drive and is either completed or sometimes stuck. After that, dozens of jobs on the tape have the partial verification status. Next scheduled verification process repeated with the same results.What surprises me even if the tape exceeds the threshold of w/r errors and has the condition status of “bad” - it is still subject to verification. Why such verification should not finish for some jobs as failed and that’s it. I have such a nasty tape quite often and then a lot of problems. Manually checking and excluding from verification dozens of jobs on tape is practically impossi

mysql transaction log backup failed - binary logs missing

Hi, Our MySQL DB admin has removed some transactions logs from DB side. No we recieve following error in incremental backup. our full backup is a snap backup. So after the full, incremental are also failing with the same error. what we can do to fix this without purging logs from D side ? Really appreciate the help at this point.

SQL Log Backup

Hey All, one question regarding the SQL Log backup. We had 2 SPs SPDB → FullSPlog → translog We are running every 10 minuts log backups and every 15 minuts auxcopy. The split is needed because after the full db backup the auxcopy take a long time. That we have the logs in DC2 we splited that the auxcopy for both SPs can run at the same time. No we have the problem when 1 DB is converded to diff that the Hole job will associated to the SPDB SP. Exampel: Server 1: DB1 / Recovery modus FullDB2 / Recovery Modus SimpleDB3 / Recovery Modus Full When the Backup job started it goes to SPlog when the second dbs runs the hole job is rerouted to SPDB. Is there any possibility to prevent ths ? Yes i can create an new subclient for all dbs with simple recovery modus… But what happend when the dba create a new one.

Is backup of Sharepoint Online "LegacyAuthProtocolsEnabled = False" possible ?

There are some plans for moving some on-prem sharepoint into Office 365, and because of this we’re looking at what options there are for backup of this. One possible issue we’ve discovered is the following, that we would like an answer to:Can you backup sharepoint online were the tenant has “LegacyAuthProtocolsEnabled” set to False ? According to this information it seems to not be possible: Configuring SharePoint Agent for Office 365 (commvault.com) The default tenant setting for LegacyAuthProtocolsEnabled is true. Changing it to false will impact connectivity from Sharepoint Online Management Shell to the tenant. Also, the backup operation is not supported, if you change LegacyAuthProtocolsEnabled to false. But according to this SharePoint Online (commvault.com) you can use both basic or modern authentication.AuthenticationYou can use either basic or modern authentication to access data for backups and restores.

Hi All,Please note that if you deploy the FREL OVA for CV 11.28 / 2022E within a perimeter network using Commvault Gateway you will run into an issue which requires manual intervention.Setup:Deployment:During deployment you are asked to fill in this form:Where the Client, Commserve and account details are filled.As we are using a Commvault Gateway construction you configure Firewall options:Select checkbox for “Is CS behind a firewall” Fill in Option 3: Proxy client name, hostname and portNow the OVA is being deployed.When deployed we log in on the terminal and go to: /opt/commvault/Base/Here we see 2 files being populated with wrong information:FwConfig.txt FwConfig.txt.registermeIncorrect information from wizard:(In this situation I am using the default tunnel port 8403, if you have entered a different port then this port value will differ from my example)Resulting in a TCP connection directly to the Commserve with status SYNC_SENT as this address is not directly available within the

Miss Azure Tag during Azure VM intellisnap backup and restore

1, we have more tag on Azure disk, when I backup Azure VM by Intellisnap, couldn’t see any tags on snapshot. How to inherit Azure disk tag on snapshot? 2, I restored one Azure VM, restore Azure VM inherit tag from source, but Azure Disk didn’t inherit tag from source disk, any chance to inherit automatically?

Can you run a Synthetic full and get all incrementals rolled up into it when the subclients host (or DB) no longer exists?

I hope I’m not asking an obvious question ...Scenario:Let's say we’re running Synthetic fulls on the weekend, incrementals daily/hourly on a Windows server that has Filesystem+MSSQL backups. Suddenly (and without warning) on a Friday evening, the server is decommissioned by the owner (maybe it was thrown into a volcano, so it cannot be turned on for a final backup). We have incrementals all week for the server, but no recent last full to back up to tape.Is there a way (or any gotchas, or special settings to properly do this) to roll all these incrementals up into Synthetic full jobs (for each subclient) if the underlying server (and CommVault client installation on that server) no longer exists? Isn’t a Synthetic full basically just a rollup of the incrementals already in commvault and in theory we shouldn’t need the client or server to exist to roll them up into a Syn full?

COMMCELL SEPARATION OPTIONS

Hello all,I would like to discuss the different options for a CommCell separation:our customer is divided into different business units. Their licenses are currently installed in shared environments (commcell, mediaagents, disk and tape libraries, all shared). NOTE: deduplication is not used and would be enabled after the migration.Each business unit must now have an independent commcell. So my first option would be asking Commvault to separate the licenses by business unit, perform a fresh install for each new commcell, and configure their respective clients. But old backup data (especially from tape) would remain at the original Commcell, which i must not depend on. Question:How could I move old backup data from the original CommCell to the new ones. This is moving some backup data to a new comcell, some other backup data to another new commcell and so on.Second option would be performing the Commcell MIgration process. From my understanding, this would move the clients i pick to a
