Protecting Sharepoint databases with aliases

Hello Commvault Community, Is such a configuration possible that sharepoint agentbacks up documents locally, and its databases via sharepoint aliases are on another server?Can such a configuration be made and will it work properly, or does it all have to be protected locally, on the Sharepoint server where the commvault agent is installed.Thanks,Kamil

Disaster Recovery Solution.

Hi, I am doing some testing related to Disaster Recovery. i am new in Commvault I want to understand About periodic Classic replication , Periodic and Continuous replication. I didn't Understand how it work. Anyone can help me to understand. This is Backup based replication or VMware to VMware based replicationI have some questions -1. Periodic Classic - Is this Backup level replication? for this we need backup? 2. Periodic - Is it same as periodic classic? or it is Snapshot based Replication?3. Continuous - For Continuous Replication Required Media agent. If we are using HSX then we need HSX both site source and DR site?

Linux agent firewall / SE Linux config?

The Windows client installation creates OS firewalls rules for the client to run and allow communication on ports used by the Commvault services. Does the Linux client installation make any FW changes to Firewalld or to SE Linux to allow the services to run and communicate externally? Are these required manually after installation?

Storage Policy Copy Create limitation ?

Hi Team, The Library of Storage Policy Copy, which I marked in the red frame in the screenshot below, will be closed. For this reason, we need to move the data to the "Private Cloud Library" that we have just created."Private Cloud Library" is not listed as Storage Pool when creating new Storage Policy Copy. There are already 2 Storage Policy Copy attached from "Private Cloud Library".The question is: How can I add a Storage Policy Copy with different retention addressing the same Library? Is there a limitation?If I can't get past this, is there any suggestion on how I can move the data?

File Archiving Massive Recall Space Requirement

Good day everyone,I have a customer that has been doing file arching for few years now. But now they need to massively recall everything that has been archived, but for that they need to provision the space required for the recall.As mentioned on the following thread, I can see the Archive / Compliance Job summary report:And it shows what was archived using traditional Archiving.But, the problem is that the customer switched to OnePass at some point. And based on the customer’s estimation, the OnePass archived data does not show in the report.Is there a way to see how much data has been archived with OnePass? Many thanks in advance.

How to add new tape drive to existing Tape Library

Hello, What is the correct procedure to add a new tape drive to an existing shared tape library? If I go to the expert storage wizard and hit either detect or exhaustive detection, the new drive is configured as a new library. Never under the existing library.Note that this is SAN library, partitioned, and in the same partition we added the new drive. Regards,Pedro

Benefit to enabling Horizontal DDB

Hello,What are the benefits to enabling the horizontal DDB, BOL explains how enable this feature, but nothing about the real benefits except that split the DDB in 3 section first for File system, another for Database and the last one for VM.Can I expect to see an improvement in backup performance or an increase in deduplication performance that would further reduce on-disk consumption?Thanks,

24 time format in command center

Hi everyone, is there a way to change the time format to 24h in the command center?For the Console I found the Option in the User Preference, but these setting aren’t honored in the command center. A quick search in the documentation also didn’t find aynthing.I also tried to change languages, but the time format wasn’t effected.

Blackout window vs enable total running time

Appreciate if someone can clarify below question,we have critical system backup run mid night and if incase the backup job doesn't complete before working hours we need the jobs to be queued or killed , which one to use , i can below option for schedule which i can apply for individual task under a schedule , what if I enable total running time but didnot selected kill running job when total running time expires ? and if i set blackout window for client or server groups how it will affect,suppose my job starts at 12 am midnight and i set blackout window from 8 am to 6 pmwhat happends to a job which started midnight and could not complete before 8 , will it get killed or suspended or queued ,?i can set blackout window for individual client from java console can i do the same with comcell console without creating the server group

UNIX Commserve - Data Aging - Failed to run Data Aging job due to change in system time.

Good morning,I’m facing the same problem as it was resolved in I know this issue in production environment, where a commserve was not turned on for a long time, protecting against false dataaging. The solution to have a GUI Process manager opened and entering the string (I acknowledge and so on) is not available on my DEV-Env where I only use a UnixCommserver with the bash.I tried to get the parameter within the commandline process manager commvault -all (and e.g. - I acknowledge and so on)but unfortunately it is not available.Did anyone have this problem as well?Best regards

Scheduling a live mount restore and getting a report of it

one of our client need test the one of the backup in every month to make sure that they have a working backup copy , is there anyway we can automate this process where each month end, it trigger a restore operation to using live mount and does the testing and delete it ,and send a report to team, is it achievable using workflow , can anyone help how can i build

Worklows with CommServDBQuery - SQL Injection risk

Hello all, I recently found out something that I missed, docs have been updated at some point, so wanted to share this with you all as well. You have an input defined as a client computer group and then want to get a list of clients within the group via this activity type. I have seen many people do this...SELECT c.id, c.displayNameFROM APP_ClientGroupAssoc cg WITH(NOLOCK)INNER JOIN APP_Client c WITH(NOLOCK) ON c.id = cg.clientIdWHERE cg.clientGroupId = xpath:{/workflow/inputs/vmGroup/clientGroupId}Note that the where clause contains the input as a variable.So this is a bad thing!
