Hi Community,our customer has upgraded the CommVault Environment from Version 11.28.102 to 11.32.45.Since the upgrade we have Issues with AUXCopies and the VMware VSA backups.We have this Issues with our 4 physical Media agents (Windows 2019) at the head office.The following errors occur sporadically on different DDBs and MediaAgents The following app crash events occur in the Windows log on all 4 MediaAgents I have already carried out a CommVault Instance Repair on all 4 media agents, but unfortunately this has not solved the problem.A CommVault Case was created. Support suspects a Windows OS issue. But I can't believe that all 4 MediaAgents have an OS problem.A "check readiness" on the MAs shows no problemsHas anyone had similar problems after upgrading CommVault to version 11.32.45?best regards,Andreas

Hi, we are looking for more information about the Outlook Addin.Is there a site, that list the current (and maybe previous) Versions?Also some patchnotes and/or compatibility information would be nice to read.Currently, the only reliable way to get the Version/Buildnumber is to download the software from https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/29115_outlook_add_in_packages.html Un-Zip the Exe-File and take a look into the CvInstaller.ini to find more information and the build number. Btw. did you know, that the Exe-File on the MA-Portal is from 2019, the file from the docs.commvault.com is from 2022?
Getting ready to deploy Commvault Media Agents to AWS EC2 instances. A pair of Media Agents should do the job. We have several sets of Windows or RedHat Media Agents in our environment. Going with a pair of Windows Media Agents would require us to have a File Recovery Enabler for Linux VM, too. Going with a pair of Linux Media Agents might require us to deploy a Windows proxy/access node VM. Are we able to roll out a mixed pair of Media Agents, instead? One Windows Media Agent, One Linux Media Agent. Same global DDB. I can’t find anything on it. Curious to hear thoughts. Thanks!

Hello Commvault Community, Commvault enviroment version: SP34I would like to ask about the possibility of changing the Client Identifier (old Client Name) for the CommServe module.We have an environment that was migrated from the old one - Hardware Refresh, but the Client Name of the CommServe module that we wanted to change remained there. We used the key:bAllowModifyClientNamehttps://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22bAllowModifyClientName%22&id=12282 Unfortunately, this key doesn’t allow you to replace the Client Identifier for CommServe. I know this isn;t highly recommended, but is there any chance of changing this - through Commvault technical support? I'm asking because after Hardware Refresh we used the existing environment and backups by restoring from DR Backup with the CSRecoveryAssistant tool. After this operation, the Client Identifier was taken from DR Backup and doesn’t reflect the actual name of the CommServe module. Thanks in advance,Kami
Hello Guys :) @large environments: How do you monitor (proactive) CommVault - CommServe, MediaAgents, xAgents, Jobs, Logs, Dedup Engine/Performance, Alerts, Reports, ... and so on? I've used Nagios with checkmk. But what is the current "state of the art"? Buzzword AI. For example, I like how Azure is handling all the metrics, and can solve some problems by itself or can give you useful informations, can trigger events/processes, can "learn” - and for example, can create trouble tickets or something similar. Which tool makes your life easier? Grafana? Excited about your feedback(s) :). Cheers!
Has anyone seeing this case where when running a backup copy, VMs are mounted, but some of them end up “invalid” this failing backup copy and hanging around vsphere. We have to manually right click and select “Remove from Inventory then run another backup which then works fine.VMTools running latest version.Run a full on the affected VMs and it keeps happening.Had a ticket with CV which said that this is a VM issue, so wondering if the community has seen this before and have found a solution for it? I’ve run into a problem trying to mount a 54.4TB FC LUN presented to a Linux MediaAgent. A single partition was created using the ‘parted’ utility, and then an XFS file system with a block size of 64k was created using the ‘mkfs.xfs’ command. I'm receiving the following message when trying the mounting xfs filesystem.mount: /mnt/cvstorage: mount (2) system call failed: Function not implementedAny help would be appreciated.

I have a question from our storage administrator that I think I know the answer to but would like to confirm. Is there a way to backup data and have the original/source data deleted? We use Isilon for our storage and we would like to back up the data to a Primary target, but have the original data deleted afterward (I guess the Isilon doesn’t have a native tool to delete large amounts of data). The only option I know of would be to run a post-process script, but is there any other options that I am unaware of?Thanks!

Hi everyone, I have live sync enabled between two comm cells “Active and Passive”. DB maintenance haven’t run since around 2 years. the workflow is disabled unfortunately. I need to run the command dbmaintenance -full on the active server. Shall I disable the live sync before running the command? Do I need to run the same command on the passive commcell server as well? We use Oracle on a Linux servers. The Linux teams installs the Oracle agent for us.All Linux servers are VMware servers. When we check the Java Console. Sometimes we only see the Oracle agent and the other time we see Oracle agent and Virtual server.What is happening here.Perhaps Commvault installs the agent voor VMware/ Oracle application Aware backup?Can anyone help?
There is a new physical tape library configured in this environment (HPE MSL G3 2024) with 2 tape HPE Ultrium 8-SCSI FC drives. The tape library was added in Commvault and few auxiliary copy jobs performed:1. With the hardware compression disabled in Commvault storage policy copy data path configuration. The size of data on the first tapes was 10 TB.2. With the hardware compression enabledin Commvault storage policy copy data path configuration. The size of data on each tapes was 20-21 TB.The backup data type is VMware backups.Our question is why Commvault is not placing more than 30 TB on each tape, considering they are LTO8 and hardware compression is enabled? This customer has another Commvault environment , with similar backup devices and same settings, they are able to accommodate between 30 -40 TB.
