Hi,I’m working with a customer that has an azure policy set that enforces all resources created has a set of custom tags during creation. This stops the VSA of creating a snapshot as expected.Cannot see anything from the documentation on this, but are the Commvault backup process able to set a set of custom tags on the snapshot during backup? Or would they require to disable this policy for snapshots?
Hi, Today, when I tried to restore a whole VM from a tape backup that is 1 month old, it gave me the below message, asking for a missing tape for index restore to browse So, I loaded the tape 66L8, in fact, I loaded all the tapes needed for this backup job. As you can see from the below screenshot, all the tapes needed for this backup job are in the tape library now. But, it doesn’t make any difference. The restore is still giving me the same message, i.e. asking for the same missing tape (which has been loaded in the tape library) for index restore to browse So, I’m wondering if anyone can tell me what’s still missing here for this restore job ? Or I actually need to hit the “Restore Index” button ? Sorry if I asked a stupid question as this is the first time I need to do a VM restore from tapes. Thanks very much, Kelvin
Hello,We are trying to perform Oracle backups from a script on the client. We have tested running the script from rman and the backup works perfectly. But executing it from the Commcell in the pre backup option, but it always fails indicating the following errors:Failed with Oracle DB/RMAN error [RMAN-00558: error encountered while parsing input commands RMAN-01006: error signaled during parse RMAN-02001: unrecognized punctuation symbol "/" RMAN-00558: error encountered while parsing input commands RMAN-01009: syntax error: found "}": expecting one of: "advise, allocate, alter, analyze, associate statistics, audit, backup, begin, @, call, catalog, change, comment, commit, configure, connect, convert, copy, create, create catalog, create global, create script, create virtual, crosscheck, declare, delete, delete from, describe, describe catalog, disassociate statistics, drop, drop catalog, drop database, duplicate, exit, explain plan, flashback, flashback table, grant, grant catalog, gran
Hi everyone, CV supports table level recovery for Oracle database. But the problem is that we’re not able to assess the datafile size needs to be restored. So table recovery can cause unexpected issue like lack of space while doing a restoration. It says all related tablespaces are restored if the tablespace includes table to recover is not self-contained. EXECUTE DBMS_TTS.TRANSPORT_SET_CHECK('sales_dept', TRUE);SELECT * FROM TRANSPORT_SET_VIOLATIONS; So we performed below procedure/command to validate how many tablespaces are dependent. For our customer’s prod environment, only two tablespaces need to be restored for table recovery on top of the targeted tablespace. But the result was totally different what we expected.A table recovery required almost all of the tablespace restore to an auxiliary instance. Why CV restore so many tablespace just for a table recovery?(Oracle DBA says there’s no reason these tablespaces need to be restored. For “Recover table” command since 12c requires onl
Hi, maybe you have an idear :) We are migration index V2 from 1 vm to another vm. the index is used only for Exchange Online Backups. The migration time is very slow ! We had 750 Mailbox so 750 Indexes and it takes 15 minuts for each mailbox. I looks like an timeout or an wait ore something like this. The side effect is that the recall is not working for all mailboxes.
We have a problem about a backup copy by NDMP, it is not letting us mount the previous snap, constantly giving an error Failed to mount snap of source volume [/FS_NFS] - id backup job mount client [win-backup] mount point array [NFSUNITY] snap engine [Dell EMC Unity Snap] by [Application].
We want to be able to restore all the data that we have archived for a customer back to the same server. They have archiving setup in both FS and a NAS location. They want to decommission archiving I can trigger a restore from the most recent synthetic fulll archive and restore all the data back to production servers; however just wanted to make sure it would completely replace all the stubs that were ever created on the source server. I was reading through the documentation as as I understand the retention of the stubbed data only works on copies at the moment the storage policy sends data to local ma and one aux copy to another location and third one to tape; so hopefully the SP retention policy wont apply to the local MediaAgent.“ Retention is only considered for copies that contain the job. Hello I’m getting some isues with some VMWare backups Error with Virtual Machine change tracking. It may be necessary to power cycle the vm, or contact VMware support regarding the QueryChangedDiskAreas API. Have anyone faced this issue before and have an idea to solve it?
Hi All ,One of my customer has requirement , wherein they want “individual Teams Chat messages” for all the users , not be retained more than 60 days.Going through commvault documentation my understanding is user's Microsoft Teams Chat messages are stored to a hidden/not exposed folder to a user's mailbox and is backed up as per exchange archiving policies .My Exchange Archiving policy is configured to retain data for infinity.Queries :Does OneDrive backup stores personal team chat as well or it is only used to store documents shared in Teams chat ?If yes , where on OneDrive teams personal chats are stored ? Is there a way we can create separate retentions for “individual Teams Chat messages” within same archiving policy ?
Hi, I need your help. Maybe I do not see it all anymore, or we have a flaw in the automatic authorizing workflows or better said, we miss one. This is the caseIf we delete a client a workflow starts which sends a mail to authorize. Works fine. One note though if a job is running for that client, it will not notify you, message is send but after authorizing the client will not be deleted. If we delete a backupset the same, works fine, email is being sent. But now it comesThere is also an agent we can delete and I do not see a workflow for this. When I hit delete, it will say if there is a job running or not, but if not, I just have to fill in the known words and the agent along with all data is deleted.I have no other environment to test quickly to check if it is for this particularly environment but does anyone else encountered this maybe??Looking forward to any answer. Thanks,Danny

Hello Community We are doing a pilot by pushing around 50t of data over to MCSS. We have noticed that when the jobs are progressing, there are multiple streams of different sizes at the beginning of the job and as the job progresses the number of streams go down. Is there a way to ensure that the data that is being pushed to MCSS is distributed among multiple stream equally so that we get consistent performance out of the job till the end?
Hello Community,For sharepoint online apps, we can see a value called “Sites” at the application level (see screenshot 1 - 1746 sites reported) , with a value which is greater than the number of items that are listed and that should correspond to the sites backed up (see screenshot 2 - 1159 items reported). The last backup status for that client indicates that 1159 sites have been backed up (see screenshot 3).So what is the definition for the “Sites” value provided at the top level of the application ?Regards,Pierre
Hi Commvaulters, Had a question regarding data aging/pruning on isolated MAs.So, we have an isolated MAs (Air gapped = They are powered on only during Aux Copies, then, when the last aux copy finishes, the MAs are shutdown), the data is Deduped. All jobs concerning the MAs are rescheduled to be aligned with the Air Gap window (Aux Copy, DDB Backup, Data Aging...etc). My concern now, is that the Air Gap window may not be sufficient to process the data pruning on the storage, since the MAs are directly shutdown after the Aux Copies. Can the Air Gap window be an issue for the data aging/pruning process ? If someone gives us some guidance regarding this, that would be great. Regards.

Hi,My customer have DB2 backup, but when there is an issue on DB2 and normal backup fail, there is an auto job stated as (command line) that keep repeating to run. Since it is failing, report shows a lot of failed job hence raise a question from the management. Is this standard practice that if normal backup failed, a command line backup will be kick in? Is there any way I can disable or at least prevent it to run repeatedly even though it is failed? Thanks and best regards,Fauzi
HelloThe following message occurred while backing up NUTANIX VM Snap:As a result of checking the log, it was confirmed that the uuid does not exist as follows. In this case, is it right to ask the engineer in charge of NUTANIX to check the uuid? Is there anything I need to check on Commvault?
I am attempting to restore messages from a user’s Recoverable Items folder, but it doesn’t show up at all in the backed up mailbox. I found instructions for enabling the backup of the Recoverable Items folder, as if it isn’t enabled by default. Unfortunately, these instructions are for v11sp16, and we are on v11sp28, and the properties boxes don’t have the settings described.Do I need to enable that option somehow, or is it enabled by default in my version? If the Recoverable Items folder is being backed up, how do I find it when performing a restore?
