Command center SAP for Oracle

I was checking the documentation regarding Command Center and SAP For Oracle (brtools).This leads,for example, to this:https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=112509.htmThis redirects you to the SAP for Oracle documentation, fine: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.21/expert/21968_sap_on_oracle_restores.htmlBut...the SAP for Oracle documentation only mentions Java console & command line restores/database copy.Nothing is mentioned regarding the Command Center.Where is that information? I’m mainly looking for the status of the Oracle in case of a db copy. Should it be stopped/started/mounted/notmounted state, in case of restore (database copy) using the command center.

System State filter Deprecation in 11.21

For Windows File System backups, 2 System State filters are being deprecated in 11.21:{One touch files} {Offline files}These are being deprecated going forward since filtering these items will limit the ability to perform One Touch Restores.  Going forward, these filters cannot be added, though existing filters will be honored.Please note that if these filters were added as a workaround and are removed, they cannot be re-added.  If errors arise as a result, please create a new discussion, or comment below.

IAAS MSP and plans for VSA backups

Hello,Any smart ideas on how an MSP could delegate Plan choice on a per VM / DB / FS / etc..  level?    E.g.  have customer choose the right Bronze/Silver/Gold plan for VM’s, databases, etc.Command center obviously has the functionality to assign plans, but… it involves dealing with creating individual subclients first etc, since that today is where you can apply a plan to. In my situation, the IAAS infrastructure is shared, and data is organized into subclients from an infrastructure point of view (datastore, cluster, resource pools, etc).    This infrastructure is shared across different customres.Customers don’t have access to the hypervisor/subclients on CommVault for obvious reasons. Creating subclients per VM (by the MSP), just so that you could assign an individual plan to is obviously not the right way to go. (scalability, performance, scheduling, burden/overhead on the clients & infra).Looking forward to any suggestions anyone might have in this area. I’m waiting for the d

Activate - modify index storage location

I’m setting up Activate to hopefully use for my company for file share optimization.  My initial storage which was about 600GB is space is now full.  I have not been able to determine in the configuration settings how to modify or add new storage to the current index.  I’ve even attempted to create a new index server but it will not let me use the same node (media agent) as before so that I can assign new storage.  In this case the local F: drive.  Does anyone know where the configuration is for me to modify the target of Activate index files?

AUX copy running very slow

We are running on V11 SP19 and all our media agents are running on Windows 2016Initially AUX copy performance was at peak 3TB/hr to 7TB/hr, gradually it performance degrade and now AUX copy job running at  300GB/hr to 500GB/hr. One this I found DDB verification job is not completing at all. Any support much appreciated

Question: What are the pros and cons of using the “Use VSS” setting in the sql server instance properties.What is the real difference between traditional backup methods and vss full backups when using NetApp and Intellisnap to backup MS SQL Instances?

Remove CommCells from cloud.commvault.com

I work for a MSP, and as a matter of course we add CommCells we manage to the Commvault Cloud Metrics Reporting site, (I currently have 27 CommCells linked there), but over time we stop managing some CommCells but there is no way to remove them once they have been added (that I can see).Is there a way to remove a CommCell once it’s been added?

O365 Groups Backup with no Owner

We backup all of our O365 group mailboxes with the exchange mailbox agent and the dynamic content „All O365 group mailboxes“.We configured modern authentication. If a backup is running, then commvault will add the service account as a member to every O365 group without an owner or only disabled owners. This does not happen for groups with a valid owner. Can anyone explain, why this happens? In the job log I found only „GetO365GroupOwnerAny - Found 0 owners for groups“.

Backup Image Physical Devices

Does Commvault have the ability to backup image a physical device? One of our physical computers computers just had a false quarantine hit it due to our AV. Now our machine is corrupt and we have no image of the machine and need to reinstall and configure the software. Normally, I would just use something like Ghost or Accronis but I am thinking of how I can use Commvault to doe the same.

Azure files tiering

We are investigating to start using Azure Files as an archive method.When a file been tiered (stubbed) how does Commvault treat that stub when a file backup is run? Will it backup the stub itself or does it follow the link and backup the entire file?BrHenke

Only the Windows administrator account that is also the Commvault service account user should have access rights on the Commvault software installation folders.” under users I only see the commvault internal accounts and under the domain

Migrating database to company

Hi, We are using following procedure for moving a client to a company:https://documentation.commvault.com/11.21/essential/122919_migrating_clients_to_company.html That works fine in 11.21.But what about moving database instances?We moved the client, and that’s visible, but the (RAC) database isn’t moved. And there is no option within the database instance to change company. Instance options

NDMP Backup Performance very poor with a Netapp CIFS Volume with millions of Files

Hi,are there any Best Practices to Backup Netapp Volumes with lots of files in a single Volume (use cases cannot use multiple volumes)? Two of my Customers running in a similar issues with the Performance (1st Customer has a Throughput of around 10 GB/h and the other around 150 GB/h). How to Transfer Owner of Commvault schedule policies

New to CV and found that the previous guru created schedule policies under two different user id instead of a generic id.  I’ve tried modifying but no joy.  There are several and I really do not want to recreate as that is open season for errors.  What method am I missing?

Starting Incremental Backups for Selected VMs in a Subclient

Hello Everyone We run a frequent patching schedule and we are asked to make sure that we have latest backups available for those servers. These servers belong to multiple subclients and we are at the moment manually triggering the incremental backups for those subclients and this takes time as we have to initiate the backup of whole subclient even if only one VM is being patched out of those lets say 20 VMs.What is the best way to approach this without moving the VM out of the subclient.? Or is it possible to trigger incremental backups for selective VMs inside a subclient. We are at SP20. Thank You

Cannot add multiple Azure Apps to O365 App in Commvault

Kubernetes Backup Failing

Added a Kubernetes Cluster.
