Amount of Space Needed for Dash Copy Backups Using Front End Capacity and Usage Reports

The stuff in the Deduplication documentation does not really make clear what we may need. We had Dash Copies a couple years ago and ran out of space then we migrated our backups to Hyperscale-X. Now that we are getting ready to setup Dash Copy work again need to get at least idea of what we need space wise as a best practice. BTW were on Prem not the CLOUD.

How to migrate data from Tape media to Storeonce catalyst stores

Hi Experts , I have been  task to migrate data from 7 years retention Tapes to our new store once catalyst stores library.The original tape library is already no hardware support and broken and it is also in a different CommCell. after merging the CommCell clients. I am able to see the Tapes storage policy copy ( the primary copy is on a disk storage which is also not recoverable any more.) I am thinking to use aux copy but from  console it seem I can only copy the tape to another tape using the new tape library on loaner for migration purpose by HP. Is there a way to use the loaner tape library read the tapes and direct copy to the Store once catalyst stores?

Trying to download several files from the OneDrive backup and it doesn't download them.

Hello everyone, I would appreciate your help.I am trying to download several files from my OneDrive backups, I choose to download it in a different location and not in the original location.What happens is that an empty folder is downloaded.What could be the problem?

Effect of Changing the Default UNC Path on DDB Indexing.

I experienced slow incremental/synthetic backups due to limited throughput. I would like to understand if changing the default UNC path and indexing on the DDB will affect the backup process.

Huge number of new files scanned

Hi,Is there a way to identify files by name and location who where during the file scan marked as new?We know they are not new as they the data backupped is low.The reason is probably a right or attribute changed as we also see no modification dates changed.Data is located on a network share on a Isilon using a Windows File Agent

Reporting auxcopies without a schedule

Hello,is there an easy way to find out copies in storage policies that are not scheduled? It is easy to find clients with “No schedule” but this option is not available for auxcopies.Thank you., Regards,Thomas

Has anyone used a DDB on a software RAID? I have 2 NVMe drives I want to use Windows Disk Manager to put them into a mirror for the DDB and Index Cache.

Aux copy and data verification failing to pipeline module setting

Hi Experts, anyone seen this error before on data verification task I run after aux copy failed to read chunk from Storeonce disk to be copied to another storeonce catalyst stores. Why a Mount vs Disk volume for local data storage in an MS Windows media agent appliance

Hello Team. I’ve come across Windows media agents with internal data storage in a raid 5/6 stripe (single logical disk in Windows) wherein instead of formatting the disk as a volume and assigning a drive letter to point the library in CV to a mount is created for CV to write the data to the disk. When I questioned the person who did this, his response was that long ago he read in CV docs this was a best practice to follow for security/ransomware prevention purposes; to make it harder for a bad actor who gained access to the server to read files on the volume. I myself vaguely recall this may have been a recommendation in the v8/v9 days. Does anyone have any knowledge of this configuration as a ‘best practice’, any docs ? Any comments as to the effectiveness ?

Hello,I have recently received a notification regarding the utilization of licenses for the purpose of backing up shared folders for an additional 5 TB. Is it possible to obtain the modifications, i.e., the information that was added, and is there a report that will provide me with the details of which backup the additional 5 TB was added?
