PostgreSQL error

Hello, I’m running PostgreSQL v13.14 on RedHat 8.9 I want to restore a PostgreSQL Instance from FSBasedBackupSet.This will only work if I made a Full backup before I start the restore. Otherwise I got the error:Cannot start restore program on host [xxxx*xxxx*8400*8402] - a network error occurred or the product's services are not running.Source: wi823-sep, Process: fsIndexedRestoreThis is the link I use:https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/restoring_one_or_more_postgresql_databases.html. But why must I do a Full backup before starting the restore. What if the Instance is corrupt and I can’t start a backup?

Hyperscale X 2.x change meta disk drive

Hi I am trying to change physical disk for the Commvault HyperScale X 2.x node. I am following the Commvault procedure.https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/replacing_metadata_drives_on_nodes_for_hyperscale_x_reference_architecture.html But when I am trying to change the disk, I am getting this error:[admin@klpmda12-nbk Base]$ ./CVSDS -m -l /dev/sdb -V CDS/opt/commvault/Base/cvsds: invalid option -- 'V'Please confirm that the node has been rebooted after replacing the damaged metadata drive. Update password for domain account used to run tasks/jobs within Commvault

HiWe presently run Commvault version 11.28.36 For some backup tasks/jobs we are using domain accounts. If we update the password to one of these account in Active Directory where do we update the password for the account in Commvault so the task/jobs continue to run?Kind Regards Dean

Multiplexing On Tape

Hi All, we are actually troubleshooting an perforamnce problem.  There is an Sync Copy top Tape ( LTO 8 )  2 Mediaagents in a ms csv cluster. When we use combinded streams 1 and multiplexing 1 we only get max 400GB/H troughput the normal jobs have 100GB/h mixed data.  If we increase the multiplexing to 8 and combided to streams 1 the performence grows up over 1500GB/h .  so i have 2 Questions: Is there an limitaion in the stream troughput ? So can 1 Stream only use x GB/h Wich impact has the multiplexing on tape for the DR Restore process, Does it realy impact the performance so the tape getting in wind/rewind process ?

What is [AllocBuf Speed] in the cvd.log

Gui Logging not working

I did shift-F8 to get gui logging going it created the GUI folder under C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\GUI but nothing is in the folder. I got the message that it was enabled but its not doing anything.Did the logging go somewhere else?

K8s Incremental restore

Do we have any option to perform Incremental restore.we have tested the Namespace and Application level restore( in and out of place restore). while performing the out of place restore for already existing namespace , if overwrite option is not enabled restoration fails and it succeeds if overwrite option is enabled. In backend this overwrite deletes all the existing resources from the namespaces and recreates again. we are not able to achieve the incremental restore which is not suitable for the TB’s of data size.

How to decrease or delete Data Classification on server

HelloWwe are using optimazed scan for a windows server. But It crates a small database and this dataabse does low space on disk.This DB has been crates on E:\System Volume Information\Commvault\Data Classification   I have changed scan method as Recursive Scan and I have added this additional settings. But ITs still having space on disk. can you help how to delete is please?

delete old backup from cloud in commvault commcell console

Hello I would appreciate an explanation of how I delete the backup from the cloud in order to start over. I tried to delete job - under storage policy -but it deleted only the backups that were added and not the first large copy which is 8 Tera i can delete just only the small job that are added with each backup.I want to literally delete everything and let the backup run again after I remove large VM.thx

REST API Call to get all devices which are currently backed up

Hello everyone,I’m quite new to Commvault and only the “secondary admin” but the API guy in the team. We’re running Commvault 11.32.45 in a local VM and have several media agents across our datacenters (no cloud anywhere).I want to get all the devices which are backed up with any job right now. I don’t care if it’s a VM or a physical machine, a database server or a file server. All I need is the device name and maybe the backup job backing up the device.I want to use this information to request details per device from our central DCIM (Netbox) and create a simple list of devices + details.I managed to get clients and subclients via the api but it’s very confusing. There seem to be several apis and several documentations for them.What’s the currently recommended API in general? webconsole, commandcenter, WebServerCore, CVWebService.svc? Which documentation should I follow? documentation.commvault.com, api-next.commvault.com, one I didn’t find yet? Is there a straight forward way to get

Unusual job activity alerts after upgrading to 11.34.20

The evening of Friday April 6, I upgraded my CommVault installation from 11.32.38 to 11.34.20. Following the upgrade (which required reboots of almost all the client computers), the Friday evening backups seems to be running normally.  When I returned to work on Monday morning I have roughly 300 Alert emails regarding “unusual job activity” on various servers.  Weirdly, some of the alerts say zero files have been changed:Anomaly NotificationAn unusual job activity was detected in Job [751258], type [Root Size Change]. Details: Unusual number of file operations in client [INF-SQLP104] - created files: [0], deleted files: [0], modified files: [0], root size change of [0.00] GBDoes anyone know what the problem is and how to stop all this spam? Is there a way to turn off these notifications?ThanksKen

Create multiple datasource table Group wise in horizontal table with total count

Hi Team, I am trying to prepare a custom report in which i want to have a Dataset which should give the output in horizontal tabular format. below is the sample screenshot which should be in horizontal. Basically i want to have horizontal table for each group showing job history count in similar below format. In single report there wll be multiple table with different groups. We dont want to have input. Something similar to below query for example:Select ABC group from XYZ Commcell showing job history with “xyz” fields for last 1 month.

I have created a disk library in our dev environment which is using it’s own separate volume. it will be used for ddb backups. If I want to increase the capacity do I have to add a new volume or can I just resize the underlying volume in linux ?

When it planned to support Proxmox hypervisor for backup?

Reason for my question is Broadcom/vmware deal. Our Customers ask if Commvault supports ProxmoxDocumentation.commvaut.com 11.34 show that PROXMOX is not supported.Research in comunity shows a two year old topic where someone asked the same question.Two year are a long time so I want to ask if and when Commvault plans to support Proxmox?Thanks in advanceJoerg

Solaris client has a good scan, but it can't be backed up

I'm currently installing Simpana 9 version on my Solaris client and using it.I reinstalled it a while ago due to a problem, and I haven't been able to back it up since then.Back-up content browsing is good, and scanning is good.But it's only not backing up. It's an unknown error.

Changing the Client Identifier for the CommServe module

Hello Commvault Community, Commvault enviroment version: SP34I would like to ask about the possibility of changing the Client Identifier (old Client Name) for the CommServe module.We have an environment that was migrated from the old one - Hardware Refresh, but the Client Name of the CommServe module that we wanted to change remained there. We used the key:bAllowModifyClientNamehttps://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22bAllowModifyClientName%22&id=12282 Unfortunately, this key doesn’t allow you to replace the Client Identifier for CommServe. I know this isn;t highly recommended, but is there any chance of changing this - through Commvault technical support? I'm asking because after Hardware Refresh we used the existing environment and backups by restoring from DR Backup with the CSRecoveryAssistant tool. After this operation, the Client Identifier was taken from DR Backup and doesn’t reflect the actual name of the CommServe module. Thanks in advance,Kami

i have file server where i am taking full vsa backup (included all drives)and for the same server am taking file system agent backup only for some drives ,does it consume double space from my storage ? will the deduplication work well with two type of backup
