Could someone tell me what the feature is called that keeps the backup admins from being able to access the data being backed up?

Hello,

Are you referring to restricting user access with access control lists(ACLs)?

https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=18432_1.htm

This is applicable for a few agent types and will restrict the ability to browse the end user data if they do not possess the actual permissions to see the data.
Let me know if this was not what you were thinking of,

Backup admins that do not have access to backups?

My assumption here is that you would have to assign roles where different admins, have different access to clients/storage policies etc.

An admin can have access to an specific group, clients, stgs etc and like that you can restrict what they can or cant see.

This would be a Security Role activity from what I can see, otherwise provide more info as to what you are trying to achieve here.

Here is the privacy option. With it enabled, only client owners could browse/restore data:

https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=97876_1.htm

Once enabled owners can opt to lock their clients themselves.

@Damian Andre Thanks!  That’s exactly what I was looking for.  I knew I had seen it somewhere before, but couldn’t find it.

what happens when you enable privacy ?

I mean privacy is at the commcell level. We just need this fonction for some specific clients.

When i enable privacy at commcell level all clients will have privacy enable or do you have to set an owner and after enable privacy on those specific client?
