Someone already made this procedure and can help me?

I install SQL Server in 2 servers and add to Commcell.

Current version of Commvault: 11 SP 13+

**Do i need to upgrade Commvault before migrating?

Current version of SQL: 2012

And the cliente is asking to me what the best version will migrate? 2019 standard or enterprise?

@Fernando Souza , not sure if you saw my other reply:

Can you confirm that there is at least one full backup to seed the sync?

From that doc:

Before You Begin

  1. Install the SQL Agent on the destination host. For more information, see Getting Started with the SQL Server Agent.
  2. Add a SQL instance in the CommCell Console for the destination instance. For more information, see Instances for the SQL Server Agent.
  3. Make sure that you have a backup for the database that you want to use for the Live Sync operation.

If you do, then we may need to get a support case created.

@Mike Struening

Don´t have a backup full,

i can not add the SQL Database in the backup, don´t find the database in the server.

i installed the sql agent, but not find.

i updated the CommCell and i remove and re-add but not find the SQL instance.

Run a full backup for the source SQL client first.

Next, go back to the Live sync setup and you should see the database listed.

This is the database that will be synched to the other destination client.

Once that’s set up, you should be golden.

**I uninstall e reinstall the server in the CommCell

Thanks!

Kick off a Full SQL iDA backup and once it completes, check the Live sync tab and let me know if the database shows up.

I start the full backup, wait for finish:

SQL Live Sync Options:
There is another server SQL [publico02] and has a SQL server installed, the same version.

but don´t show, why?

I need to replicate SQL Database to another SQL server

@Fernando Souza at this point I am not sure why it is not showing up.  Can you call in a Support ticket and share back the case number?

This way I can follow it and bring the resolution back for posterity.

These SQL servers

need to replicate Database Servers:
publico01 ==> publico02

@Fernando Souza , I won’t be able to, but if you open a support case (and mention this thread) the Frontline can assign this to one of our SQL experts who can assist you.

What is the end goal here? A migration usually consists of a backup/restore and not a replication yet you mention both. Continuous Data Replicator can only replicate flat file system files, to replicate SQL files from one active SQL instance to another, SQL Live Sync would need to be used. Note for SQL Live Sync is that it you can only use it for Full Recovery model SQL databases. The SQL Live Sync documentation should help you through any issues: https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp13/article?p=92005.htm

Hello @JStainbrook

I need to do a Replication through the CDR Commvault by Live Sync and i will use it for Full Recovery Model SQL Databases.
I´ll read the documentation you sent.

I want to do is Replicate an SQL database from one server to the other server(new) by Commvault CDR.

Is it possible, ok?

I know that the Ideal goal is backup/restore, but that was how the replication was combined and then when migration “turn one side OFF and turn the other side ON”

Have you performed a SQL backup on the source machine?

https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=92004.htm

You must have a backup in order to perform a Live Sync operation. If you have installed the SQL Server agent on the client, but have not yet performed a backup, then the software does not display any databases in the SQL Live Sync Options dialog box.

Also, Note: You can only use the Live Sync feature with SQL databases that use the Full Recovery model.

Hello @Ledoesp and @Mike Struening

I made the full backup of my sql server:

Then, i will setup the live sync, but don´t appear the second node SQL and neither the database:

The software only displays the SQL instances that have the same SQL version or higher than the source database.

Source is SQLExpress and destination SQL Instance is LXPSQL01, what versions they are?

No, I would expect it to show up.  Can you open a support case and share the case number with me?
