Can we configure 1 VCenter in 2 different commServe?The Subclients that backup are different in 2 Commserve’s and proxy’sWill the Backups run smooth?Do we anticipate any ambiguity? 

Hi Everybody,I have a question about migration of Hyper-V virtual maschines that are backed up via Acronis Cloud. We want to restore this machines from the Acronis backup directly to our vCenter with Commvault.Is this possible and how to realize it?For my understanding I have to install the Acronis virtual machine agent and the Commvault virtual machine agent on the same vCenter. The Acronis agent is needed to restore and migrate the backed up virtual machines directly to the vCenter and the Commvault virtual machine agent is needed for the backup of the virtual machines with Commvault.But is this possible to install both agents on the same vCenter or I’m completely on the wrong way?Best Regards

Hi,When trying to restore off tapes from 4 years ago, we get the following message: MSGID 0x0e0000f4 failed to initalize browse request, check browse.log on commserve for more details. The last 2 restores we can do a browse and restore from however nothing from the time period of 4 years ago. The last 2 weekly’s (30th of August and 3rd of August) we can browse it no problem. However the 16th of August errors the same as the error from 4 years ago. It seems to be random.Lost and not sure what to do.RegardsMuhammed

Hello Team,In our environment we have are planning to a VM migration from one Vcenter to the other one.I am thinking of commvault instead of Veeam application to perform migration.In commvault thinking of using VM replication option to migrate VM from source to destination vcenter with periodic replication. Once replication is completed I can stop and continue services using destination vcenter.Please suggest, if its good to go or do we have any other option to perform the migration.

We want to migrate VMs from Vmware to Hyper-V using Commvault. The Hyper-V will be a cluster with SAN storage to store the Cluster files. The Hyper-V cluster will be hardened with Windows Firewall rules. What are the ports to be allowed for allowing Restore of VM from VMware to Hyper-V and Backups of Hyper-V VMs on Proxy.

An endpoint to backup an entire esxi datastore?

Hyperv Backups failed      Failure Reason: Virtual machine (abc) disks are not accessible. Ensure that the access node (VSA proxy) can read the source VM disks.  we are added Groups as access nodes on properties of Hyperv and those 2 groups are belongs to 2 clusters in hyperv .when ever schedule backup got triggered it will pickup wrong VSA as a Backup agent and its failling with subjected error. if i add manually those VSA proxies  in subclient level properties as a access nodes then backups are completing and working fine . how to eliminate this wrong allocation of VSA while backup , i hope commvault should figureout the correct host and VSA allocation , if not correct me  and please advice how we can overcome and i would like to use group level association of VSA on node on properties tab instead of subclient level. Thanks in Advance!!

Good Day Community,Few questions regarding Auto Recovery from VMware to Azure AVS (Azure VMware Solution).First, I do not see clearly on the documentation site if Auto-Recovery supports VMware to AVS replication (although it is VMware to Vmware (theoretically), I’d still like to validate if it is supported.Second, will the restore still be an incremental restore.Thisrd, if the customer decides to go with Auto-Recovery between VMware and standard Azure VMs instead of AVS, will the restore still be an incremental restore.Many thanks in advance for your kind help.

We’ve done a big hardware refresh and are migrating all our VMs to a new Virtual Center. Our backup environment is not changing at this time so all the storage, media agents etc are all set up and happy already.I thought I’d take the opportunity to “modernise” our backups at the same time, starting to use plans instead of storage and schedule policies and hopefully get to the point where we can largely leave the java console behind and use the Command Center. Our Commvault environment is very mature (20 years) and a lot of work has gone into keeping it in good shape over the years, through many upgrades and hardware refreshes. It works beautifully. So I am pretty old school and very familiar with the old console. Not loving plans if I’m honest, we have two on prem blocks of storage and one cloud library, and we tend to keep everything on the same retention periods. Hello fellow Commvaulters, I hope someone can help.  We had a case recently raised with Commvault where data that was used to restore data from Azure Archive to Hot Storage.  However even though the job completed months ago, it was noticed by our Cloud Services Team that the data was still sitting in Hot Tier Storage which was costing a premium.  Commvault’s documentation states the below.  However does anyone know how we can empty this container manually? Second question is the below states “Move back data from Hot to Archive”.  Where is this option on the workflow?  I couldn’t see it?  There is an option to tick “Auto-archive recalled files on restore job completion”.  This was ticked for our recall, but still the data remained in Hot Tier.  Surely this should not be the case? ThanksTonyQ If you execute the workflow with backup job as input, execute the workflow again and select the Move back data from Hot to Archive option when prompted. Our container SME noticed that there was a new namespace created a couple days ago which appears “empty” for the most part. This page talks about it but sort of implies it requires manual steps to set up.Nobody did anything to push this into the cluster, and, we protect 4 distinct clusters with cvlt yet only one of them has this new namespace in it. All 4 are backing up just fine (all namespaces that is) so, what is it and why does it appear to be randomly created in our clusters?thanks!

We are performing the Physical server restoration to Azure with Virtualize me option form the command center, During the restore we are getting below error. Same server if we perform the Virtualize me restoration from the GUI console, the restoration will be success but the server is not booting in the Azure. also we noticed during the restore the multiple VHD are getting created. But the server is having only 2 drive C and F. Also i want to highlight here, In the general tab we are not bale to list/select the Hypervisor client, there is bug in it. Could you please help me to fix the issue.

Hi,Some time ago Dell introduced support for Transparent Snapshots in their offerings which according to their materials should boost VMware VMs protection and restore. As far as I know Dell is the only vendor using this, so I am not sure whether this is a VMware technology or is it a third-party in this case.Anyhow, I wanted to ask if there is a similar solution on the road ahead that is/will be available in Commvault?

Hi We have two site main DC and DR site and I want to replicate a vm from DC to DR and we have mediaagent on both site.What is happening right now is when replication happen it first take backup (dedupe) and then restore from backup to DR site and while restoring process full vm original size and it is choking the bandwidthThen i take the call with support and he suggested to check the “replicate using secondary copy option” and choose DR mediaagent as storage in secondary copyNow when replication trigger it first take backup in main DC site then aux copy trigger from DC  to DR site then replication happen but it still restoring the vm from main DC not DR. Can anyone help here?

we are doing Planned Failover for Vmware to Hyperv Migration Activity  ,but we are seeing missed VMs in target host ,after failover job completed,multiple missing VMs  are created  for single VM  how to overcome this issue , is there any way we can prevent this missing VMs .

Hello Team. Customer has moved on-prem vmware ms windows vm’s to azure as azure vm instances. They say they have the vm’s in 4 separate subscriptions and provided 4 subscription ID’s. The CV Azure Client has only 1ea. field for a subscription ID. To protect these vm’s, will 4ea. CV Azure Clients need to be created ?
