Hello community !

I try to find a way to send only weekly and monthly backups to a secondary storage (Azure Blob Storage) from a Primary Storage Policy that haves only daily backups (7 days retention).

I see from Aux-Copy wizard, that the only way is to create a Selective Copy with only full backup jobs. So, basically to copy only synthetic fulls once a week in my case.

But, I cant figure it out, how to copy also monthly jobs!

Please for your feedback!

Best regards,
Nikos

@Nikos.Kyrm

There is no way to have the software automatically copy only specific fulls. To copy only specific fulls you will need to create the copy with the optinon “do not automatically pick jobs”.

Hello @Nikos.Kyrm

Re-reading your question, if you are doing weekly fulls, the full on the 4th week would be a “mon-end” full backup. You can setup a regular Selective Copy that automatically picks jobs and that should be fine.

Thank you,
Collin

Hello @Collin Harper and thanks for your follow up!

Our current Primary Storage Policy is configured with RPO 7 days retention and Synthetic full every 7 days.

So, basically we have one Synthetic full backup per week.

Is there any way to mark some of these synth backups as “weekly”, so to be able to configure the Selective Copy as as you suggested?

Best regards,
Nikos

Hello @Nikos.Kyrm

There is no way to have the software automatically do this but in the Selective Copy settings you can set it to “Do Not Automatically Pick Jobs”. With this, no jobs will be automatically copied but you can go manually select which jobs you would like to be copied.

Do not Automatically select jobs

Select this option so that no backups will be copied to this copy unless they are manually selected for copy from the Job for Storage Policy Copy dialog box or the Select most recent full backup when auxiliary copy starts option has been selected from the Auxiliary Copy Job Options dialog box.
