I write backups to an on-prem SAN. I have a small amount of data on one client that needs to be encrypted to meet a data at rest encryption requirment. Is there a way to only encrypt data backed up from a singe directory on a Windows client? Or a single drive on that client? If not, what is the best option for encrypting my data at rest with the least impact on backup times. I do not need to encrypt it in transit, just at rest. Thanks,Larry Upton
We are running 11.28.36 in AWS environment. The commserve sits in a Management VPC and Couchbase is running in our Production VPC. In the Production VPC, we have a media server (proxy server) that runs VM and Cassandra backups to a local S3 bucket.I have the URL for the Couchbase API Server and an admin userid/pass.I am looking for what ports are required from the Proxy(Media server) to the Couchbase server(s). We have a tunnel setup so that we can load the Couchbase software on the required servers, ThanksChuck
Hi guys, one quick question.NetApp offers the feature to lock Snapshots to prevent deletion of it without the need of an SnapLock Aggregate. The feature is called “Tamperprrof Snapshot”.https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/snaplock/snapshot-lock-concept.html?q=TamperproofIs this feature supportet by Commvault?Could Commvault handle/manage the retention/lock of the snapshots on the ONTAP-level?For primay snap and snapvault copies. If not, what would be the best solution to keep the snapshots safe from deletion → SnapLock? RegardsJulian
Hi Team, We are running our current environment is Commvault V11 SP32 and we are in the process of deploying the HPE MSL3040 Scalable Base Module (upto 3 HH Drive) for tape out copy and physical server having Allma linux 8 Operating System. Whether OS will support tape library and Commvault Media agent software. Regards,ManiD
HiI noticed in the documentation a note about the lack of Commvault support for Table level restores.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/20248_configuring_oracle_subclients_for_table_level_restores.html “If you use Oracle 12c or a more recent version, you can only use this procedure for databases that are not Container Databases (CDB). To restore tables in Container Databases, you must use the RMAN command line.” Are there any plans to support this via the GUI going forwards? Container Databases have been a feature in oracle for over a decade now.
any idea on the below error , Error Code: [18:183] Description: Failed with Oracle DB/RMAN error [RMAN-03009: failure of allocate command on ch1 channel at 12/01/2023 13:13:35 ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel ] Source: grb-srv-opr, Process: ClOraAgent we restarted the server and services backup 4,5 backup ran sucessfully again we are facing same issue
If I add a “Premium SSD V2” disk to an existing Azure VM (or during creation of a new VM), backup fails with error message “Unable to create a virtual machine snapshot of [CL3]. [One or more errors occured]. Please check the virtual machine snapshot tree”.networkaccessAccessPolicy is “AllowAll”, publickNetworkAccess is “Enabled”. There is no problem with “Premimum SSD” disks.First I’d like to ask, if this type of disk is generally supported by Commvault backup. I can send a full log of the backup job.Commvault V2023E. Thank youJiri.

Hi,Our backup is connected to the VmWare VMs that are divided into two clusters:- vcsa-sap.seab.lan , whose VMs are present in the SLA- vcsa.seab.lan, whose VMs are not present in the SLAOn 30 October 2023, the certificate of vcsa.seab.lan was renewed and since then the VMs have disappeared from the Commvault SLA on the Command Centre page. Before the certificate was renewed, there were 90 VMs in both clusters. Now only those of the vcsa-sap.seab.lan cluster are present (43 VMs) but not those of the vcsa.seab.lan cluster. I need instructions on how to proceed in order to add the new certificate in Commvault and restore the correct functioning of the SLAThank youCarmine
Hello, does anyone in the community have experience with offside backup to an S3 bucket in AWS?We created a bucket in the AWS with the "Object Lock" option in compliance mode with a retention of one day. We also did the same with a storage policy in Commvault. Also compliance lock and retention 1 day.We then sent a VSA backup to this storage policy and everything worked immediately without any errors. However, after the retention expired, the data in the AWS bucket was not deleted. To find out whether something was stuck here, I manually deleted the data in the storage policy. That was yesterday. Today, the data that Commvault wrote is still available in the AWS bucket. There is no delete marker on it and the bucket has not changed in size from 7.7 GB and the number of files and folders. RegardsThomas
Hi All,in the infrastructure that I manage, I have a Commserve and a Media Agent on premise (cmvCServe and cmvMA01) and another MA (cmvMA02). Due to cost issues, only the Commserve is directly replicated on a remote infrastructure dedicated to any Disaster Recovery.A second MA (cmvMA02) is active on a DR infrastructure, but not actually used. Both MA are connected to two different S3 libraries in the cloud where the respective DDB is also present. In the event of a disaster, can I recover the backups carried out by the on-prem MA by configuring the share of the library located on the first MA to be reached and used throught the second MA, positioned in the DR environment? Is this a viable configuration? Thanks in advance for your answers!Best Regards
In the past few months, “file activity anomaly alerts” have been exploding in my commvault warnings. Consider this thread a continuation of my previous thread here. For instance, we have Microsoft Configuration Manager use its built-in backup function to back its files/databases up twice a week to a location on our file server, and then later Commvault backs up the whole file server. Here’s a few of the files which it always sticks on, some related to Config Manager, some random other onesDescription: A suspicious file [P:\Project\Staff\DISASTER\SCCM\SSCBackup\CD.Latest\SMSSETUP\AI\LUTables.enc] is detected on the machineDescription: A suspicious file [P:\Project\Staff\DISASTER\SCCM\SSCBackup\CD.Latest\splash.hta] is detected on the machine Description: A suspicious file [K:\Users\Choi2\R\4.2.1\file3ea85e644f6c\spatstat.random\R\spatstat.random] is detected on the machine Description: A suspicious file [M:\TSProfiles\Buetz.v6\.conda\pkgs\tornado-6.2-py39hb82d6ee_0\Lib\site-packages\torn
helloin my enviroment we have many share with more than 10 milions files and directory to backup. It is normal that in the access nodes the ifind process can consume more than 20 GB of ram ?There is indication about the relation between number of directories and files and memory usage of ifind ?thanks in advance
Hi Team, I am getting the below error while taking a IntelliSnap backup, can anyone suggest Description: SMIS Provider connection timeout. Please make sure 1) SMIS provider software has been installed. 2) Correct SMIS provider name has been entered using Array Management. : [Snapshot::SnapDelete: Connection to CIMOM failed]
Hello everyone, I'm in a situation that's causing me some discomfort. I have 15 VMs located in one region and I need to replicate these VMs to another region, all within the Google Cloud environment. To do this, I'm using 1 MediaAgent to perform the backup and replication operations. However, I'm noticing that it takes a very long time to complete the entire replication process, taking around 15 hours to complete successfully. The first time running the Job, Commvault said that the Application Size was of 7.22TB. And in the last incremental, the Application Size it’s of 112.44GB. Because of this long time, I’d like some tips to help reduce this time, if there’s any documentation that can help. Thanks, 🙂.
Hello, Every time I run a Maintenance Failover, I receive the "CommServe Time Shift Detected !" alert. Detected a change in the system time, it is now forwarded by 30 days 22 hours 32 minutes 10 seconds. But there's no time shift between the active and standby Commserve servers… Regards,Pedro
Hi Team, We are looking to configure media agents with active-active or active-standby with SAN attached disk library. Media agents are windows. Also we want to learn is there an option active-active or active-standby options with the Commvault.
Hello ; I have 2 Mysql Cluster running on the same version “8.0.20” and check configuration have been applied to both clusters and everything is fine. Check readiness is ok for both clusters. Also, FS backups for both clusters were fine, and FS our of place restore between both clusters. The issue in restoring the DB from one cluster to the second one is that the restore is starting and there has been no progress on both DBs cluster and everything is fine and check readiness is ok for both also FS Backup for both clusters were fine, also FS our of place restore between both cluster , the issue in restoring DB from one cluster to the second one, the restore starting and no progress on the job since job started and no data moved but the DB created on Mysql end but there is no progress from commcell side and job last time update was the same as the time of start job ?Commv. version 11.30.48.
