Commvault V11.40 roles missing

Good day allI was trialling the V11.40 SDK today, but notice that the Commserve Role doesn’t appear to be part of the Media Kit yet. Has anyone else experienced this? I also notice that V11.40 is not yet available on the Store.

When Changing to a new plan I have issue with new full backup

Hello,I have a PLAN PLAN_A this plan uses a Cloud Library S3 Cloud_A bucketA and two media agent ma_A_01 and ma_A_02 I created a new PLAN PLAN_B using a Cloud Library S3 Cloud_B bucket B and two media agent ma_B_01 and ma_B_02 I have a client using PLAN_AI’ve changed the PLAN from PLAN_A to PLAN_BWhen I try to perform a fulll backup Commvault try to get some informations from Cloud AError Code: [62:1544] Description: Error occurred in Disk Media, Path [bucketA /QLS8R7_03.04.2025_08.08/CV_MAGNETIC/V_216828] [[Cloud] Access denied.]. For more help, please call your vendor's support hotline. Source: Commvault-Access-Node-02, Process: cvd Do you know what could be the error ?The Cloud_A will be decommissioned soon and we don’t need the data in it. Thanks

New SP40 Installation

Hi All, we are running SP32 envoirmoemnt and want to migrate to SP40. We installed an new windws server 2022 and downloaded the cv sofwtare but we cant install the commserve componenente. We picked all in one commserve advanced but there are no commserve componnents.  After the SQL Server installation we get the window wich commcell do you want to join but we picked create an new one.   and than directly that:  One of my collueg means the fresh SP40 instalaltions are only possible under linux ???

Mailbox cleanup quota not working

Hello,Guys i have a problem with Cleanup with Quota, we set to start at 50% and stop when it became 25%.the mailbox limited with 2 GB and it was consumed by 59%.Archive job started then cleanup job started and finished when mailbox utilization became 10%. I believe the quota option not working while all the conditions are right.  Please Help

Migration of TSM Spectrum Protect to Commvault

Hi.I am planning for the migration of TSM (Spectrum Project) backup data to Commvault.I have a couple of questions around the configuration:1. For backup data from Linux TSM clients, a Linux Commvault Proxy/Staging client is required?2. Same as above for Windows TSM clients, then a Windows Commvault Proxy/Staging client is required?3. Do these staging clients need the Web Server and Index Store package installed or can this run centrally from the CommServe?Please add anything that should be considered.  Thanks.Ignes

Can't delete DR folder

Hi,we have updated to the newest version an creates DR backups.But i can’t delete them. The folders and files are write protected. We tried to delete them with GUI, PS or cmd. But nothing. If we remove the write protection and open it again it is set.Any idea how we can remove the DR folders?RegardsDennis

Virtual Server Agent - Delete Snapshot Duration greater than 30 minutes - Completed w/ one or more errors

V11 SP36 I have this situation where we take a VSA backup of VmWare servers, the deletion of the snapshot can take sometime for two or three servers and causes a warning, when in reality the backup is fine The Delete Snapshot can take one or two hours, as a consequece the Commvault seems to register the ‘Delete Snapshot Duration’ as 30 minutes and a few seconds  In this case the snapshot was deleted after 55 minutesIs there any setting or something else, that could override the warning message?Thanks Mark

This may help bypass snapshot failures and allow the backup to complete.Please follow these steps in a test environment:Add the following additional setting on the VSA Proxy:The key is not added to the library "bVerifySnapshotCreationAllowed", so it won't appear in the search. However, you can add it manually.Name: bVerifySnapshotCreationAllowed Category: VirtualServer Type: Integer Value: 0Restart Commvault services on the VSA proxy after applying the setting.Monitor the next backup job to verify behavior.If the test is successful, you may proceed to apply the same in production.I will review the logs for Job ID 117296 and provide further updates or

VSA Proxy Backups

Hi Commvault users, Regarding backing up VSA’s (proxy servers) that are used for VM image backups. Do you recommend backing them up ? if so Daily, weekly etc.Being just proxy servers I’m guessing there is no real need to back them up if you can build a new one quickly. Any advice is welcomed.  Kind RegardsTerry

Upgrade commserver V10 to V11 with latest SP

Dear Team, We are planning to upgrade to a new CommCell server with an updated Commvault license.The current CommServe is a physical server running on Windows Server 2012, functioning as both the CommServe (CS) and Media Agent (MA) and additionally the commvault license End of support.As part of the upgrade: We will deploy a new virtual machine with the latest Windows OS to serve as a dedicated CommServe. A new physical server running Oracle Linux OS will be provisioned as the Media Agent. VM backup issue after upgrading to 11.28.107.

I have 2 FREL’s in my environment and we use this FREL as VSA proxies as well to share the load between other 2 VSA proxies. After upgrading this FREL’s to 11.28.107, we see VM backups fails with the error “The virtual machine [] did not pass the disk size validation. If this issue persists, please contact your vendor support hotline”.I have VCenter level configuration for VM backups and I have 7-8 Subclient and each subclient have 15-20 VM’s in it.When the backup get triggers for this subclient as per schedule, at least 6-7 VM’s fails with this disk size validation issue. Once this VM’s fails, I re trigger them one by one and backup completes without and issue.Can someone tell me, what can be done to resolve this issue completely.

Lotus Notes transaction log Full Backup

Heyho,a customer is using lotus.In 2017, the backup was set up for this and we have a full backup in the transaction log subclient.Now it is not possible to trigger a full backup of the subclient and the command centre constantly reports that the subclient needs a full backup.Is there a way to deactivate the message for the subclient in the Command Centre?

CEPH block storage

Hello all,I’m looking into support for CEPH, namely the block access (RDB) because we’re considering replacing the current SAN arrays with CEPH distributed storage and backup is of course a big segment of it.But I cannot find much information on integration with CEPH, e.g. support for IntelliSnap feature which is well supported for NetApp/Pure etc, nor which DB agents are supported with CEPH as block storage. Has anyone played around with this idea? Are there any internal reports or (POC) reviews that could shed some light on this?Thanks in advance! Regards,Igor

Unable to restore Exchange to PST, SharePoint and OneDrive to disk.

Anyone else experiencing the problem with Office 365 when trying to run a restore where the options were recently changed? Exchange restore I can only restore the items to the original mailbox or I need to pick another mailbox. I no longer have the option to restore to PST file. SharePoint, I can only restore to the same site or I need to pick another site. The option to restore to disk is no longer available and the same goes for OneDrive. I don’t like the limited options now for restoring Office 365 files.

CBT Restore Issues with VMware – Black Screen After Restore

We're encountering a recurring issue related to CBT (Changed Block Tracking) in our VMware environment with Commvault (version 11.36).After incremental backups fail or complete with CBT-related warnings, any subsequent restore of the affected VMs results in machines that fail to boot — only a black screen with a blinking cursor is shown after powering them on.In addition, Guest File Restores are no longer possible for these VMs. Attempting to browse the file system results in the following error:Failed to get items for volume The original VMs continue to run and restart without any issues.The problem affects multiple servers, not just a single system.The issue is resolved after performing a full backup — restores (including guest file restores) then work as expected again.Example error message during backup:Error code: [19:857]  Description: SRV-03\SRV-03.vmdk Warning change tracking verification failed,               SRV-03\SRV-03_1.vmdk Warning change tracking verification failed  So

Size of DDB is getting increased

Hi Everyone,I’ve noticed a significant increase in the size of DDB over the past few days. About three days ago, each partition of the DDB was approximately 115 GB, and as of today, all four partitions under the same engine have grown to 145 GB each.Could you please help me understand the potential reasons for this growth? What areas should I check, and are there any recommended troubleshooting steps to investigate.

VM Restore using "attach disk to VM" - EQUIVALENT API

Hi, I am trying to restore a vmdk and attach it to the VM. Was able to do it successfully on the web console.  I also downloaded the EQUIVALENT API.  How do I use the “EQUIVALENT API” for future restores  without using the web console ?I (preferably) want to use REST, but I couldn’t find the endpoint to run this restore. Does anybody know what the endpoint is ? Thanks in adavance!

Azurew Full VM restore

Hello, I am trying to do Azure Full VM restore, but i can't chose any storage account.  For the backup i am using LRS  StorageV2 (general purpose v2) in the same region as the vm. I added CVBackupRole to all subscription. For the networking we are using private endpoint But when i am trying to restore i got message "no storage account found”

Exchange Mailbox Cleanup Policy

We recently loaded up a brand new Commserv. Upon configuring On-Prem Exchange Mailbox backups there was a cleanup job policy created that was configured and enabled. On first run after the first mailbox run (Close to 4700 mailboxes) the job deleted about 1.8 million e-mails from exchange based on the settings of the job which appears to have picked1 day past our retention date to clean up everything. Our retention date is 90 days so the job used 91 days.  Has anybody else even seen where the cleanup job automatically enables when an exchange plan is created and uses defaults?

VM Transport Mode for Hyper-V backups

We are planning to migrate from VMware to Hyper-V platform. In VMware we have the option to choose transport mode on the sub-client level but in Hyper-V i don’t see this option. We have approx. 1000 VMs to backup after migration. In VMware we have kept dedicated VSA proxies to associate with particular ESX host for Hot Add backups. Could we do similar set up for Hyper-V, instead of using Hyper-V node as a proxy use bunch of VMs acting as VSA proxy which will be associated to particular Hyper-V node for Hot Add backups.

Support for NetApp SVM-DR

Hi all,we are trying to figure out, which way to implement a NetApp Snapshot-based backup with a SVM in a DR-Relationship. To be more specific:Production: SVM1 on ClusterADR: SVM1-DR on ClusterBBackup: SVM1-BCK on ClusterCCommvault will trigger Primary Snapshots on SVM1 and replicates those Snapshots to SVM1-BCK. In the event of a disaster, SVM1-DR gets manually acitivated.Question:Can we use tunneling for SVM1 and in case of a disaster Commvault will automatically connect to SVM1-DR on ClusterB (same as with MetroCluster configurations and the “DR partner” parameter → https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/expert/configuring_dr_partner_for_metrocluster_configuration.html)? Or do we need to connect to the SVM directly to be able to perform Primary Snapshot Backups on the DR-SVM?RegardsMario
