Hi everyone,I downloaded the ISO from the Download Center for both Linux and Windows to test Commvault version 11.44.On Windows, I ran the installer (.exe) as Administrator, but the "Create New CommCell" option is not available. I only have two options: Join to CommCell Advanced Component On Linux, I tried to install it on RHEL 10.24, but the installation cannot download or connect to MSSQL. Also, the installer does not prompt me to choose whether I want to connect to another MSSQL server. Is this expected behavior in version 11.44, or am I missing a step/configuration?Any help would be appreciated.
We are planning to implement Commvault with HPE StoreOnce 3660 NAS share, please advise the best Practice for the configuration level. - Is it will enable Deduplication & Compression in hardware level and disable these features in Commvault end. - Is it will run backup of synthetic full (or) full + Incremental. Please share best practice document to implement this solution.
Hello,Does anyone know if you can search the chat history on the Arlie website for specific terms? Thanks and regards,Thomas
(CV11.40.67 - self hosted)Has anyone found a "sweet spot" or a good ratio for the number of azure apps and streams for large exchange/Sharepoint jobs ?Before, adding more apps and streams at our large sharepoint and Exchange jobs improved the throughput. but I have read that Microsoft has become much stricter with throttling recently, also that using too many apps/streams might have the opposite effect and degrade the performance. When reviewing a recent sharepoint job, the tab where we can see throttling showed only 6 minutes of throttling. That seems like not so much, so I am not sure if Microsoft throttling is actually my bottleneck here.I tested the theory that fewer streams might perform better under the new Microsoft limits, I reduced the streams from 10 to 5. Unfortunately, this resulted in lower throughput. When I see only 6 minutes throttling time reported by CV, should I be looking elsewhere for the bottleneck rather than focusing on Microsoft throttling? When observing the acce
Hi everyone,At the moment, I am looking to clean-up our MSP environment. We have a lot of clients that are reported by our SLA as missed SLA and we have a lot of clients that show failed to run. Most of the clients show up for the file system backup as FS agent was pushed when another agent was also installed. We don't need the FS backup as we also protect the clients as VM but we still need the other agent to stay active as they protect things like AD, databases or cloud applications. Can I just retire the file system agent on these clients or will this uninstall the entire client? This is especially important when the clients are access nodes where backups are not tied directly to the client but to a pseudo client such as SQL AG or Office 365.I can also do this by releasing the license on the FS agent via the java console but this feels like the old way of doing things.Kind regards,Paul
We have a large MongoDB Production sharded cluster of approximately 70–80 TB, consisting of around 120 nodes running Rocky Linux 8.10. Could you please check and confirm whether Commvault supports backup and recovery for a MongoDB cluster of this scale? We would also appreciate any information on known scalability limitations or recommended sizing guidelines. Also , whether normal Mongo Snap Backup or Percona would be useful in this case ?
Hi everyone,I’m looking for a tool or report that can perform a more comprehensive assessment of an existing CommCell environment.I’m already familiar with the Health Report, Security Assessment and Configuration Reports, but I’m looking for something more comprehensive that can assess the overall configuration and best practices of the environment in one place. For example, I’d like to assess things such as encryption configuration, Live Sync, security settings, storage and deduplication configuration, DR readiness, backup configuration, potential configuration issues, etc., and ideally get recommendations or findings for areas that should be reviewed or improved. Is there any Commvault tool, report, workflow or Store application that provides this kind of comprehensive CommCell assessment?Something similar in concept to VMware’s Health Analyzer would be exactly what I’m looking for. Any recommendations would be appreciated!Best regards,Nikos

all,I am configuring M365 mailbox backups.I have created an Office 365 Plan and set “Retain deleted items for 2555 days”I then created a Backup Plan with Primary to Disk for 365 days and synchronous AUX to Tape for 2555.Am I correct in saying that all mailbox backups from now with be Incremental and it ignores the Backup Plan retention and keeps all mail for 2555 days on Disk & Tape ! Also, is there a way to run a once off Full backup ? Currently on 11.36 Thanks
Team,I’m looking for some guidance on the best approach for redesigning our Commvault AWS cloud library.Current environment* Commvault version: 11.40* Primary AWS Region: us-east-1 (N. Virginia)* Current storage class: S3 Standard-IA* We have 2 AWS accounts configured for Commvault.* Across the accounts, we currently have 2 and 5 S3 buckets, mainly separated between Prod and Non-Prod.* Only a few Storage Policies currently have an Auxiliary Copy to an air-gapped location.* We already have DDBs associated with the existing cloud libraries.Planned designWe are planning to change the architecture to:Primary Copy* Region: us-east-1* S3 Storage Class: S3 Standard* Retention: 2–3 days* Intended for frequent restores and Commvault data-read operations.Secondary Copy* Region: us-east-2 (Ohio)* S3 Storage Class: S3 Standard-IA* Retention: up to 30 days* Intended as the secondary copy. The proposed flow is:Backup → S3 Standard (us-east-1) → Auxiliary Copy → S3 Standard-IA (us-east-2)Questions1. Hi, To make it easier for a user to check if he is affected by any CVE, it would be beneficial if we could go to https://documentation.commvault.com/securityadvisories/ and specify which patch version we are running, and see only the CVE’s that are affecting that given version. As it is now, I have to click into all the CVE’s and see if I am affected.
Hello,We are currently running backup on Commvault (FR42) for MongoDB Atlas protection with an enterprise customer. Our understanding iis that Commvault orchestrates native Atlas cluster snapshots through the Atlas REST APIs, with no backup copy possible — the data never leaves the Atlas/AWS perimeter and cannot be materialized on a Commvault Cloud Lib...However, MongoDB Atlas natively supports exporting Cloud Backup snapshots to a customer-owned object store (S3, Azure Blob, GCS) via the Atlas Admin API, including S3 Object Lock immutability and PrivateLink transfer. Since Commvault already integrates with this API for snapshot orchestration, we would like to understand:Is there a technical or product reason why Commvault does not leverage the Atlas snapshot export API to provide a true secondary copy (backup copy / air-gapped copy) of Atlas data under Commvault management? Is such an integration on the roadmap for an upcoming Feature Release? If not, what is the recommended Commvault

Hi everyone,Our CommServe is a VMware VM with 32 GB RAM, but lately memory utilization is consistently around 90% as the environment grows. We have multiple VMware, Azure, AWS, OCI, LiveSync and Microsoft 365 environments, although the total number of VMs is not particularly high.SQL Server Maximum Server Memory is already configured at ~16 GB, so SQL is not consuming all available memory. Would it be necessary to increase the CommServe all the way to 64 GB RAM, or would a lower intermediate value be sufficient to provide additional headroom?Since it is a VMware VM, we can increase RAM independently without necessarily increasing vCPU. CPU utilization is currently not a concern. What would you consider the best approach in this situation?Best regards,Nikos
Hi everyone.I am trying to build new small commvault lab with commserve on windows, plus one extra windows box with media agent and one same for linux media agent for VMware. Package which was provided to me is called FullMediaKit-Windows-40-CU60. During the installation I am selecting all-in-one and proceed further. Installer goes to client installation and want to put commserve or GW hostname. On the same machine Commserve should be installed during the same installation but when I put there localhost it is not proceeding further. What I am thinking, whether my mediakit have all needed software to install commserve and client at the same time. From version info I can see below information[Image Information]Version=11.80.400.0ServicePack=40SPTranID=7482319UnixTime=1748308815RevisionNumber=1372LinkedRevId=1372ReducedMedia=1My package have 10GB size. Can someone help me confirm whether I have good installer? I think that its not installing commserve but just only client and trying to (w
Hello Dear AWS Team,Did you have plan the support of TAG in AURORA POSTGRESQL ? AWS tag is available for many worlkioad, is there unknow limitation to do not have them on AURORA ?Thx
We migrated all data to a media agent in the cloud. The Commserve is still local in our company. We would like to install the Commserve on our media agent in the cloud. (Data is only ussed for Archive, backup is moved to cloud)I tried to install the software on the media agent, but you cannot select the option to install the Commserve software. I must uninstall the media agent software and then install the Commserve and media agent software. We are running 11.32.XX (no production only archive)Is there a best practice to do this? Is there any documentation? Thanks in advance!
Hello,I would like to ask a question about cleaning the local on-prem S3 storage (Netapp AFF C30).We have two buckets created (two mount path’s). Both have micro-pruning enabled from the beggining. On Mount path “General” informations I can see that:bucket1: Size on Disk: 90,68TB / Estimated Media Size: 68,06TBbucket2: Size on Disk: 86,86TB / Estimated Media Size: 65,77TB I had similar values in the past on Commvault (MCSS/MRR/AGP) cloud storage - and after running Space Reclamation - we were able to free up a lot of space.Should I run a space reclamation here on this S3 storage? Is micro pruning sufficient way for cleaning on-prem S3 storage in commvault? or maybe we should run this space reclamation from time to time?It would be great to hear what best practices are. Thanks in advance.Regards,Matt
I would like to update CommCell from 11.40.xx to 11.44.xx.Unfortunately, I keep running into this problem (with several customers already).Even though the service is running.
Hi,we use Metallic to backup out M365 products. In Entra we create a service account with global admin rights. What minimum permissions are required to back up these products?RegardsDennis
We are having trouble discovering computers using this option; does anyone know how to fix it?We have tried the following steps:– Go to Control Panel → Credential ManagerRe-enter the AD credentials in Credential Manager.Alternatively, Security → User Accounts – Verify and update the account used for:Active Directory discoverySoftware installation workflowPush installation operations
Hi all. We are using the Multi person authorization restore request/RestoreRequestAuthorization workflow so that a user cannot do a restore before its approved. Every time a restore is initiated, an email is sent out to a large number of users/approvers in our environment. Because we do have a large number of users who can approve the restore, we want to disable the email, so that users are not getting spammed with emails. Is it possible to disable the sending of the email? Thanks-Anders
Hi All, i would like to create an big picture for running Backups and admin jobs. Maybe someone has an good idear how can i export the information and maybe let an KI create the schedule plan. My goal is to have an plan to see at wich time wich jobs are running on wich maglib and how long. Also how long is the dash copy running. In best way in a cool graph or kalender. The kalender view in Commvault only show the start time Maybe you have an idear how can i create an good backup schedule plan with the existing informatiuons
Hi everyone,I’m trying to better understand the data flow and potential throughput dependency in the following Auxiliary Copy scenario in Azure. We have two Azure MediaAgents:Copy-2 Azure MediaAgent → Azure Blob Storage (region-local Storage Account)Copy-2 Azure MediaAgent → Copy-3 Azure MediaAgent → Azure Blob Storage (associated storage account)During the Copy-2 → Copy-3 Auxiliary Copy, Copy-2 data flow starting from reading the data from its associated Blob Storage, process it, and send it to Copy-3. Copy-3 then writes the received data to its own associated Blob Storage. In our environment, the read/write throughput between Copy-2 and its associated Storage Account appears to be limited to approximately 3 Gbps. What is interesting is that we also observe the Copy-2 → Copy-3 throughput reaching approximately the same ~3 Gbps level, even though the two Azure VMs communicate through Microsoft's Azure backbone using VNet Global Peering, which theoretically should support significantly hig
Commvault / Nutanix AHV – HotAdd disk issue with Prism Element 7.5.1.10 (VOL-40301 / VOL-40302)Hello,We are currently troubleshooting a Commvault backup issue on a Nutanix AHV environment running Prism Element 7.5.1.10.The problem occurs during the disk HotAdd / mount operation on the Commvault VSA / Access Node. The communication with Nutanix Prism on TCP 9440 is working, but after the disk attachment operation, the Linux VSA does not detect the new device.Relevant Commvault log entries:CvProcess::system() - udevadm settle --timeout=30CvProcess::system() - Command completed with rc=0CDiskMapperLinux::PostAttachDisk() - Pausing to let device node appearCvSysfs::getNewDeviceName() - No new devices foundCvSysfs::getNewDeviceName() - No new devices foundCDiskMapperLinux::PostAttachDisk() -No new device found for disk id [<DISK_ID>]CPrismCentralInfo::MountVM_Disks() -DiskMapper PostAttach failed for disk [<DISK_ID>]We then receive an HTTP 404 from the Nutanix Volumes API:GEThttp
