Dear Team,I apologize for the inconvenience, but I was wondering if you could assist me with the following question. On August 1, 2026, I completed the Commvault Cloud Professional course to obtain the certification. However, it appears that the certificate has not yet been issued. I noticed that my previous certificates were generated immediately, so I was wondering if this delay is normal.I would appreciate it if you could provide me with more information about the status of my certificate or let me know if any further action is required on my part.Thank you in advance for your assistance. I look forward to your response.Kind regards,
We’re currently planning to migrate our DR Commserve from On-prem to Azure Cloud as part of Hardware Refresh project.Current environment -Primary CommServe (Production) hosted in a On-prem data center A. DR CommServe configured and running in On-prem DC B. Backups are getting backed up locally and connected with Production Backup Server A. Currently everything is running on physical backup environment (Media Server, Storage, Primary and DR Backup Server) Live Sync backups are configured in every 1 hour between Primary and DR Backup Server.Planned Changes - Onprem DR Backup Server needs to decommission, and it needs to migrate in Azure cloud. Primary Backup server will run as is in Onprem DC A. Post successful migration, Primary Backup Server will be on physical environment and DR Backup server will run in Azure cloud. Hostname will be same of DR backup server in Azure cloud. Only IP will be change. No changes for Primary backup server.Questions / Clarifications Required -Best practices
Is there a report that shows the compliance lock status of each copy in a storage policy ?
Please bare with me as Im still a novice in terms of commvault. I was going to open a case with support but I figured I would post here first to see if anyone could assist.so our DBmaintenance job doesnt see to want to run like it use to back on 11.32.xI think this has been going on since we upgraded to 11.40.x from 11.32.xWhen the job runs we get the following I know it said it completed but it also states that it has failed.I havent tried to run in manually via the cmd line. Doesnt even send an email. Guessing something totally changed from 11.32 to 11.40 ThanksBC
Current commserve version is 11.36.98 and using commcell console. if we upgrade to 11.44 are we still be able to use commcell console?
Using the bUseLatestVDDKVersionPath Additional Setting, I am looking to force the use of VDDK901 for the protection of multiple 8.0.3 environments.Given that VMware claims that VDDK is N-2 backwards compatible, I am interested to understand if anyone has faced any issues when forcing the use of a later VDDK version, and whether there are any caveats I should be aware of?
Hi Team,We have upgraded our CommCell environment from Commvault 11.32 to 11.40. The CommServe and other MediaAgents were upgraded successfully. However, one MediaAgent is failing to upgrade from 11.32 to 11.40. We are facing the same issue with both: 1. Push upgrade from CommCell Console 2. Manual upgrade using the Commvault 11.40 media kit MediaAgent Details: - Current Commvault Version: 11.32 - Target Commvault Version: 11.40 - OS: Windows Server 2016 Standard - OS Version: 1607 - OS Build: 14393.9060 Error observed during upgrade: "Failed to install IISServerRoles2012 with error code 0xFFFFFFFF." From Install.log, we observed the following: - Timeout period 20 mins for package: IISServerRoles2012 - Started install/update of package: IISServerRoles2012 - Installation of package: IISServerRoles2012 did not complete in expected amount of time - Process name: CVInstallThirdParty.exe - Warning: Installing IISServerRoles2012 timed out - Set application exit code=[Failed] - The installer
Hi All,does somebody know when disk, or at least name filtering will become available for Proxmox and Nutanix VM backups?Ever so often VMs have disks assigned containing no content worth to be backed up. Like e.g. sources, lasrge test copies of developers or Update Vaults. With VMWare I am used to exclude such disks easily through disk filters, name filters or storage related ones. Or using the independent disk setting. For Nutanix and Proxmox I can find no such possibilities. Commvault also does not honor the Proxmox backup setting for disks. All filtering there applies to complete VMs only.Running currently 11.36.98, but also tested with 11.44.12.Thanks
have the following warning and all of these are coming from deconfigured clients and we cant delete since we still need data The following pseudo clients and their corresponding physical clients do not have the same software version: The following MediaAgents do not support upgrade with the current operating system installed. The following clients have webserver or webclient installed and need to be upgraded immediately after CS upgrade The following clients have deprecated agents or instances that cannot be upgraded to the new software version. 11.24 has been deprecated in the current version. Please upgrade 11.24 clients to the latest version before retrying CommServe upgrade again.
Hello, Teams,I am looking for someone who can share the offline documentation file for the 2022E (11.28) version. Since this version has reached end-of-life / support termination, it is currently difficult to access or review the related documentation. Additionally, all existing links for 2022E (11.28) are currently being redirected to version 11.46, making it hard to find the older references. If anyone happens to possess this legacy offlinedocs file and is willing to share it, I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you in advance!
Hello,I’m looking a manner to get the IndexCache status using Command Line or RestAPI or qscript, qcommand … in order to automate some maintenance tasksCommvault version is 11.28.
Hi everyone,I downloaded the ISO from the Download Center for both Linux and Windows to test Commvault version 11.44.On Windows, I ran the installer (.exe) as Administrator, but the "Create New CommCell" option is not available. I only have two options: Join to CommCell Advanced Component On Linux, I tried to install it on RHEL 10.24, but the installation cannot download or connect to MSSQL. Also, the installer does not prompt me to choose whether I want to connect to another MSSQL server. Is this expected behavior in version 11.44, or am I missing a step/configuration?Any help would be appreciated.
I have a small CommCell with a CommServe on 11.32.115 running on a build of Windows Server that needs a refresh.I could stand up a new VM with the same IP and hostname and do a DR DB restore and I guess I’m back up and running quickly with a clean build? But I noticed Commvault now offer a Linux CommServe and a pre-configured OVA appliance so I’m wondering if this is something I should be looking at instead? The current environment doesn’t use “plans” it’s all traditional storage policies and copies and schedule policies to run jobs out of business hours.I don’t tend to use Command Center I tend to use the Java UI but I guess that’s out of habit. It’s a pretty small and simple environment with just a few Windows file agents and a NAS agent pulling some UNC paths in.What would people suggest please?
I passed the Commvault Cloud Professional Certification over a week ago and the badge is not showing up on Credly. I sent two messages to helpdesk@commvault.com and I have had absolutely no responses.
We will eventually upgrade everything to 11.36.114 but what needs this update in order to resolve these vulnerabilities? Is it just the CommServe/WebServer?The Resolution does not state what needs to be updated.“ResolutionSoftware customers upgrade to resolved maintenance release.”https://documentation.commvault.com/upcoming-security-advisories/?id=CV_2026_07_5 https://documentation.commvault.com/upcoming-security-advisories/?id=CV_2026_07_8 https://documentation.commvault.com/upcoming-security-advisories/?id=CV_2026_07_9 Thanks
I am currently questioning our AuxCopy to tape performance and want to get some input on how to identify the bottleneck. We have multiple plans which all have two copies to tape. One is synchronous and one is selective. Each of the two is consolidated onto another Global Secondary Copy Policy. The storage target are six LTO9 drives with a mixed LTO8 and LTO9 media inventory. The source for the copy is a NetApp StorageGRID S3 backed storage pool with deduplication connected on a 100G fiber network. We have two Media Agents which are both connected to all LTO drives and the NetApp (same VLAN).Looking at the reported speed of the drives in Commvault I get around 130MB/s all of the time.I could confirm this looking at SFP speeds on the FC switch which also stay around this value with rare peaks to around 200MB/s.What I tested already to look for the bottleneck:- only run one AuxCopy Job- run AuxCopy when no other jobs where running- validate drive > 300MB/s throughput with LTO8 media- differ
With FR40 there is a SQL upgrade that will happen for the CSDB; it will go from SQL2019 to SQL2022.i was told that sql installer will be included on the commvault package? can i download this via commcell console? i dont see any option where it would include sql package? TIA
Over the last several days my jobs are getting killed on Metallic because of this error [82:158]. Since we’re on the cloud we don't have any control over Media Agent or storage. Are other customers seeing this problem as well? I’m still trying to catch up on all my EXO backup, but these problem keep making it difficult to do.
Hi all,After installing the MediaAgent Package on some Windows Servers (These just require the component and do not not act as a Data Mover or host a DR Share) I get the once a day 64:1142 Critical Code Event logged: Administrative share are enabled on the MediaAgent XXX which could lead to potential security exploits, please review and take necessary steps.Having reviewed https://kb.commvault.com/article/72274 this article only really seems concerned with disk libraries and DR Shares that use an Admin share in its path. I have 2 servers that this is being logged in event viewer for, yet they only have the default C$, Admin$ and IPC$. Should Commvault be flagging the C$ as something that should be removed? Indeed if I apply a reg key (AutoShareServer = 0) the alert is suppressed, but this also removes the Admin$ Share. Are these alerts in the Event Viewer supposed to be triggered for these default Shares by design or is it being over zealous and picking up these in error? The Cri
Hi all!I would like to discuss following situation. We are unable to override retention under plan. After turning on the option on “Override restrictions” to give permission to “Allow this plan can be overridden” than select changing the value to “Override optional/required and clicking OK we see no real changes performed. Is it possible that this setting is somewhere blocked or overwritten by another settings?
Good afternoon, everyone.I'd like to ask for your help with a question. We have a client using Commvault version 11.32. They have a deduplication database, a media agent, and their Commserve system installed, as well as SQL Server 2019. They would like to upgrade to Commvault version 11.40. My question is:Will the upgrade from 11.32 to 11.40 be too significant? Or would they first need to upgrade to version 11.36? Also, regarding SQL Server, does the Commvault package include the update, or would it need to be updated manually?Thank you very much, everyone. I look forward to your responses.
Hello Commvault Experts,I would like to seek clarification regarding the behavior of Commvault agent upgrades on IBM i (AS/400) systems. When an agent upgrade is initiated and pushed from the Commvault Command Center/CommCell Console to an IBM i client, is there any scenario in which the upgrade process could disable, stop, modify, or otherwise affect SSH services (Port 22) on the target IBM i server? We recently observed an SSH connectivity issue following an upgrade activity and are trying to determine whether:The Commvault upgrade process makes any changes to SSH configuration or service status on IBM i. Any Commvault components or upgrade scripts require restarting network services that could temporarily affect Port 22 availability. There are known issues, prerequisites, or documented cases where an IBM i client upgrade resulted in SSH becoming unavailable. Any specific logs on the CommServe, MediaAgent, or IBM i client should be reviewed to verify whether the upgrade had any interac
Hi, I am a Commvault Partner new to the Community. I would also like to take the self paced Engineer (and Expert if available), but all I see that is available is the ILT paid ($3000) for Engineer and for Expert ($5000) ILT also. Am I looking in the wrong place? (I have the exams in progress but failed miserably not having taken any training prior at all)… Thanks, Tom
Hi,I have experience with day to day management of Commcell console. But I’m now starting with Commvault cloud and would like to onboard a customers on-prem Hyper-V environment to Commvault cloud. Is there some documentation that somebody can show me to help me with this process? Kind regards,Stephen
Hello, an incremental oracle backupjob was but at the job details (events) I see the following event: Backup job [xxxxxxx] has been converted to a full (code 38).I looked at the jobmanger log, taskmanger.log on commserve and oracleagent.log on client but I don’t fine why the incremental job is converted to a full backupjob. Maybe someone can tell me what (code 38) exaclly means? A backup is done every day the last full backupjob was from yesterday. regards Roland
