How to increase the number of log file versions in 11.34 for a linux Client in CommandCenter

Hello Community,Since we have the first customers who can no longer use the Commcell Console or only with great effort due to a new installation 11.34, I am currently trying to find support standard functions in the Command Center again.A classic example: how do I set the debug level of a process and the number of versions of the log files on a Linux client. It was easy until 11.32:https://documentation.commvault.com/2024/expert/configuring_log_file_consettings_in_commcell_console.htmlIn versions 10.x we used to use keys. I found the item “settings” and an “add” button at “manage Servers ...”.Are we going back to that level or have I overlooked a menu item in CommandCenter?Thanks in advanceJoerg

Commcell console - Saved table layout not available the next day

Hi. In the Commcell console, the table layouts that I saved are back to default the next day. If I saved and logoff and back in, table layout is the saved one. Buy the next day, it’s back to default.Windows server is not part of any domain, so no GPO are involved here. It used to stay saved few months ago, but not anymore. Not sure after which update this behavior started.Is there some sort of conf file being created for my CV user, or is this just send in CV DB?

Hi,I had a training on ea.commvault.com now since has moved to new portal. I do not see the old trainings. I had certification pending. Mailed my concern to registrar@commvault.com but no help.Please assist.

Incremental backup expired

We have an incremental backup that ran on 29 August and completed at 19:11. The storage policy has retention set to 7 day and 2 cycles. On 10 September we unable to restore that data because it has aged. Based on our understanding that backup should only have aged on 12 September before the 2 cycles completed.What could be the reason for this “early aging” of that job?JobStorage policy retention

tape rotate by media full

Hi All,- daily incremental backup and Thu Synthetic full backup- every week will rotate and insert week tape on Thu, will not use barcode pattern with spare media pool- if week1 Thu and Fir are holidays, will insert week1 and week2 tape in library on Wed because no one will back to office rotate tapeQ1. due to commvault may use week2 tape backup on week1 Wed or use week1 tape backup on coming Thu and Fir, could week2 mark media full force commvault use week1 tape until Thu and we may remote access and change week1 tape mark media full and change week2 tape mark appendable on Thu and let commvault use week2 tape backup backup coming Thu and Fir?Q2, but we check https://kb.commvault.com/article/53950 "Synthetic full backups will not use Appendable media", if "Synthetic full backups will not use Appendable media.", how can solve? Q3. if Synthetic full backups could use Appendable media, any impact or concern when “mark media full” with “mark appendable”?Best regards

Configuring PROXY Between MediaAgent and Clients in Commvault

Hello everyone,I hope this message finds you well.I have some inquiries regarding the use of PROXY in Commvault and would appreciate your guidance:Is it feasible to configure a PROXY between the MediaAgent and clients, such that all communication is routed through the PROXY? Are there specific considerations or best practices for this setup? What are the implications of implementing a PROXY in this configuration? What are the requirements for configuring a PROXY? backup progress when tape auto clean

Hi All, if only one tape drive and library have cleaning tape, when aux copy to tape progress e.g. 50% and tape drive detect error require clean tape drive Q1. CommServe setup tape library auto clean with sense code, will backup job auto continue after CommServe auto use the cleaning tape if clean the tape drive successful? Q2. If Q1 backup job auto continue, will it backup star from 0 or 50%? Q3. CommServe setup tape library auto clean with sense code, refer below job management, will backup job pending or waiting or failed after CommServe use the cleaning tape clean the tape drive but unsuccessful over 200 minutes (restart interval mins 20 x max restart 10)? Best regards

Hello, Is it possible for commvault to generate a report of all the files backed up on a drive? example the D drive? including the size of the files or how about the top 50 or 100 largest files? If so can this be done through commcell or would it be better using the command center? Thanks for any help in advance

1-Touch Linux recovery UEFI cannot start yastgui

Hello,I’ve created 1-touch recovery dvd using this procedure https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/1_touch_for_linux_single_stage_dvd.html but when I try to boot from the media I’ve created the system cannot mount dvd and cannot find /dev/hd* devicewhat could be the reason?

Restore VM - Save destination client on list

Hello,I was provided with the commvault system by the company I work for. I was left alone, other administrators who dealt with it left. My question may be simple, but it would speed up my work a bit, especially since it worked before. Every week I restore virtual machines (HYPER-V) to a server that is only used to restore these virtual machines, and an additional backup which is then kept on a server where the network is disconnected. The screenshot shows how I do it and I have to select "Destination Client". The server where I want to perform this restore is not visible on the list, so I have to add the server and the user to be able to connect and perform this restore, but I do it for several machines and I have to enter this server manually each time, and it used to be displayed on the list .How to make the server that wants restores appear on the list automatically. My target server settings are similar to other servers. The screenshots show the list where I want to place the targ

Skip IntelliSnap SnapBackup while BackupCopy is active

Hi,is there an option available, that skips IntelliSnap Snap Backups, when Backup Copy operations are currently running for the subclient ?On NetApp FAS Systems, a new hardware snapshot cannot be created, while a volume clone is active.For some of the backups on large subclients, this leads to failed backups from time to time.This in my environment, this happens to some of the sublients once a month (4-weekly, before switching from Storage Policies to Plans)Instead of defining Blackout Windows to statically define when snap backups are to be skipped, it can also be helpful to simply skip the snap backup request, when the subclient is active with a backup copy or mount for restore operation.rgdsKlaus

SAP HANA online full and related logs

Hello, customer is managing SAP HANA backups from DB side via backint. He want to create special 3rd copy of his online full backups.On commvault side, DB backups are taken by DB_backup storage policy and log backups are taken by Log_backup storage policy. As per my understanding, due to whole backup process is controlled by HANA Studio (or similar tool), Commvault cannot control what and when is backed up and therefore is kind of blind. I was able to setup aux copy of monthly Online full backups to S3 library. We are now testing restore from S3 library (it is 3rd copy), but is failing. Failure reason is caused by absence of log backups. Customer now wants to schedule aux copy of Log jobs related to the particular Monthly Online full. I am, however, not sure if it is possible due to mechanism of backups - as I mentioned, they are taken by DB itself and therefore I expect Commvault is not able to “choose” needed log jobs. Conclusion: Is it possible to fulfill customer expectation and sc

Collected Files are missing in PostgreSQL Backup

Hello,we back up PostgreSQL 15 databases as FSBasedBackupSet. The databases run on Linux RHEL9 VMs. Commvault copies the PGDATA directory as a file system after calling the pg_backup_start and performing a database quiescing. The backup runs online, which means that applications that could update the data, are running in parallel. If the database is large, the backup may end with "Completed with one or more errors". The reason for this is: Some files that the job scanned and collected in its CVFfiles are deleted. So we get something like this:ClBackupFile::OpenFilesForBackup(7273) - Could not specify path '/data/postgres/db/as15/tabWe then started setting some paths in the additional sPGDirIgnoreList Parameter to exclude deleted files. This resulted in a backup job with return code 0 instead of "Completed with one or more errors".But then some of the missing files seemed to be part of the database base directory. Excluding these means "incomplete backup" which cannot be used to clone t

Hi All,- first storage policy daily Incremental and every firday Synthetic Full (Run Incremental Backup > Before Synthetic Full) keep 7 days 1 cycle- first disk daily Inc and Synthetic Full go to auxiliary copy of second disk keep 7 days 1 cycle- Synthetic Full setup use full media pool and incremental backup setup use daily media pool - second disk daily Inc auxiliary copy of daily tape media keep 28 days 4 cycle- second disk weekly Full auxiliary copy of weekly full tape media keep 28 days 4 cycle- every week change all tape media- Synthetic Full backup start 16 Aug 2024, check tape retain 12 Sep- incremental backup start 17 Aug 2024, check tape retain 13 SepQ1. when will the full backup start 16 Aug 2024 and incremental start 17 Aug 2024 tape media allow overwrite?Q2. we check commvault training material and it will age when finished 5 cycle (if setup 4 cycle), is full tape media allow overwrite on 13 Sep? is incremental tape media allow overwrite start on 14 Sep?best regards

multiplexing factor for tape from single source MA

Hi All,- primary site one MA with disk library DL1 (one mount path) - DR site one MA with disk library DL2 (one mount path) - DR site MA SAS direct connect to tape library- subclient_A with 20VMs and subclient_B 30VMs use same storage policy Primary backup to disk library DL1 daily 7PM- aux copy from Primary backup to Second backup disk library DL2- aux copy from Second backup to tape Q1. since the tape backup from single source DR site MA, the multiplexing factor default 5, may we know the actual factor is 1 when backup to tape? Q2. any benefit if change multiplexing factor from 5 to 10?Best regards
