Malbox Arcihve Auto discover priority

Hi We have multiple archive and cleanup policies, and we want to assign them based on Active Directory (AD) group membership. However, we’re encountering an issue where the default policy takes precedence, even when a user is a member of both the general group and a specific group. Our goal is to ensure that the policy assigned to the specific group overrides the general/default policy. How can we adjust the priority or enforcement logic so that users always receive the more specific policy when they belong to multiple AD groups

Error Code: [17:179] - Failed to scan the content (File System)

Hello, Lately we’ve been seeing the “Error Code: [17:179] Description: Following errors occurred while scanning: [Failed to scan the content]” popping up on some of our Windows file system backups, causing them to fail. The subclients of said servers have no content specified, they backup everything. I’ve also tested with only backing up drive C:\ but the same error appears. When I check for the VSS state they all appear “Stable” and show “No error”. I’ve also tried running backup without the “System State” option just in case. Looking at the logs, I can’t really see a real reason as to why this would happen. Has anyone faced this issue before? What else can be attempted to fix this? Enable File Server Agent on CommServer 11.36.X

Hi guys. A simple question ¿How can I enable the file system agent of CommServer on the CommcandCenter? Since version 11.34.X the Commcell Console is not “available” so I not able to do it from there. File system agent is obviously installed as it is the CommServer but not available under the Protect > File Server list. Regards.

Fetch Databases for a given Subclient in SQL Server

First question: How to know the list of databases configured from a subclient sub2017 using command line? Cataloging a Tape

Hi all, a new Commvault user here. We are trying to perform a restore from a tape. However, the "Mark for Catalog" option is missing in the Command Center. It's a feature in the CommCell Console, which we don't have access to. This is a standard feature that we need in our backup policy. What is the best way to restore VMs directly from tape (without the database or sync) ?

Troubleshooting Data verification errors

We have over 100 systems in our CommCell computer group and most of the systems are backing up just fine. We have two schedules, a monthly full on the first Friday of each month and weekly incremental jobs. However, on one large file server, the incremental backups are routinely being converted to fulls. I see these messages in the job history: Backup job has been converted to a full backup because Data Verification detected errors The full backups are causing quite a load on the file server. Looking at the job history, about ½ of the jobs are being converted from INCR to FULLs. How do I track down what is causing the verification errors so that it doesn’t have to convert incremental to fulls? Thanks, Q

If an administrator mistakenly removes clients from a schedule policy, where can we retrieve the client details? Where can this list be retrieved to reconfigure the clients back onto the schedule policy?

Hi, We had an issue with Refs. One of the first matches is https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/9409_refs_for_windows_2012_and_windows_2016.html Not believing that W2022 is not supported I found https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/142211_system_requirements_for_windows.html I wanted to give a feedback on the first link but the feedback button is gone. Checking other documentation pages confirm that the button is gone. (description for online documentation still describes this feature) It seems Commvault made a change in behaviour of BOL. How can we give a feedback to a BOL page in the future ?

DB Full Backup showing high size in CommVault from original size

Hello, In Commvault two DB backup job done. But showing one Full backup Commvault backup size is (760.83 GB) which is higher than the original size(551 GB). Another Differential backup Commvault backup size (18.33 GB) which is higher than the original size (14.69 GB). I have attached some images. Please check this and tell solving process.

Hello, good morning, how are you? I wanted to share a problem I'm facing in a client's Commvault environment. Their Commvault only does DR, it's currently on version 11.32, replication is done from VMware on-premise as the source to Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) as the destination. There's a machine that hasn't replicated for a long time because it can't back up due to the problem below. Erro code [91:460]Unable to create a snapshot on virtual machine [] because another task is already running on the virtual machine. The job will got to pending and be retried. I don't understand what it could be, the machine can't do full or incremental backups, we've already looked in VMware and there are no paralyzed tasks, in the replication monitor it has the SLA status as "not met" and the status is "Sync Enabled". If you could help, I would be very grateful. The machine hasn't replicated for over 5 days.

New User Seeking Clarification on Maintenance Release Availability Notice and Hotfixes

Hello Commvault Community, I am new to using Commvault at my company and still trying to understand many aspects of the software. Recently, I received an email titled "Maintenance Release Availability Notice" (see attached image). I would appreciate it if someone could help me understand what these types of emails entail and what hotfixes are. As a beginner, I am not very familiar with the terminology and processes involved. From what I have gathered, maintenance releases seem to include updates and fixes, but I am not sure how they differ from regular updates. Delete large quantities of jobs

We are having a storage issue where we have defined the time range for when the storage is corrupt, and we need to delete the jobs in the storage. We have a list in a text file of all the jobs. How can we loop the file into a qcommand or qscript to delete only those jobs?These jobs are stopping auxcopy from running. Thanks.

How to perform restore of MS SQL AG

How can I restore a SQL database without using a .bak file?

How can I restore a SQL database without using a .bak file? When I attempt to restore the database to disk or to an out-of-place location, the restore process generates a .bak file. I'm not sure how to restore the database as a regular database file with its associated transaction logs. Documentation hasn't provided any clear guidance. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I want to modify reports I have saved as a view

I Open command center and go to reports, then Backup Summary. I modify the default to only show the critical servers I want to check each morning. I save it as a view then go to schedule and create job schedule to run daily. That works great, but if I decide to modify anything in the existing view, it seems like I have to delete everything and start over. Is there a way to modify a view? In the commcell job scheduler the edit is grayed out on the scheduled job I have created. It just is frustrating to have to start from scratch every time I want to add a server change anything

Can we throttle or limit the restore speed in commvault

Hi ALL, Our client want that when we run a restore of a server from Site A to Site B the restore network speed should be 200 MB/hour. Is this possible in Commvault. I know that we can use Throttle Network Bandwidth at client level but not sure if enabling this will throttle restore job or not?? Please help if there is any way that we can throttle network bandwidth for Restore Job??

Backup Job Summary - Filter/field "DNS GUEST HOSTNAME"

Good morning folks, We want to know if there is a possibility to add the column ‘DNS GUEST HOSTNAME’ in the jop summary backup report of virtual machine backups. How to find Aux Copy Fall behind report

Good morning folks, There is a possibility to perform restores from MongoDB Cluster to a standalone server which is a single node replica set. Problems trying to register clients

Hello, I have clientes with commvault agent installed but no register on commcell. Can I Upgarde service pack without downtime?

Hello, I have a Live sync environment - Is there a procedure for a service pack upgrade without downtime? the only option I can see is to upgrade while still having restore only option - https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/installing_platform_releases_on_commserve_livesync_setup.html Is there a procedure where I can also continue the backups?
