Hi,additionally to my previous post regarding support for Rocky Linux 9.6 I now ask for support for Rocky Linux 9.7 or Rocky Linux 9 in general. I think this would be a curial step for Commvault to go from Windows to Linux and also allow customers to chose their distro.Why:On December 1st Rocky Linux 9.7 has been released. The Release policy for Rocky Linux: Rocky Linux does not support point releases once a newer one is available. Once a new minor point release is available, the older one is immediately considered end of life and users must upgrade to continue receiving security updates. For example, once 8.5 gets a general release, 8.4 is immediately end of life. SourceAre there any plans for changing the documentation to support Rocky Linux 9 in the latest point release?

We have a large number for VMware VMs that are getting migrated to new hardware. As such, the VMs will reside in a new VMware virtual client within Commvault. Is there a way to take a VSA based user defined subclient and it’s contents (namely the VMs) and move or clone them to a different virtual client? We’ve looked at the clone_subclient_template.xml but that appears to only clone to the same virtual client not a different one. Has anyone done this before or know of an auotmated way to accomplish this? Thanks!

Hi,I just learned, that the WebConsole is no longer available with 11.40.So far, so good.But what I really miss is the Report Builder, that is no longer available with new installations of Commvault.Are there any plans to make it available in the CommandCenter as well in the near future ?and if so, when will this happen ?rgdsKlaus

Hi together,we are currently running the Commserve on 11.36.65 and are using several clients with Centos 6.5 and 6.7. These clients had been upgraded from previous versions and are running with 11.28 and 11.36.Now we want to install a new Centos 6.6 (Intel, not Power). We are trying to use 11.20.40 and 11.28 and 11.32 but everytime we get the error: SIM install requirement failed. Please check the log files. The logfile contains exactly this message. Do you have an idea? Best regards.Michael 

Hi all.I hope to get some inspiration or thoughts about a new setup that I’m tumbling with. . I have a 11.40 Commcell and in this Commcell I want to use 2 MediaAgents. The 2 MediaAgents should be setup so that they can act as “failovers” for each other. So if MA01 is offline, MA02 can continue to run backups of clients for both MA01 and MA02 and also continue to do restores of data that MA01 backed-up.2 MediaAgents with separate SSD’s for OS, index and ddb. The MediaAgents is installed with Rocky Linux 9.6 I want to setup the MediaAgents with a partitioned DDB For the disklib I’m going to use a IBM storage SAN system that will be connected directly to the MediaAgents via FC.  As a start I’m going to create 12 Lun’s/disks, which are going to be zoned to both servers The Lun’s will be mounted on both servers On MA01 mp1-6 will be mounted with ReadWrite access and mp7-12 will be mounted with ReadOnly access. Good morning, We are new to postgres databases and are implementing our first production cluster soon.  What are you all using for your log backups in terms of scheduling?  We are running in continuous archive mode and currently have backups every 15 minutes.  Even 2G  backups are taking under a minute. What are the considerations for setting this? If our RPO is 5 minutes, would it make sense to backup every 5 minutes, or is that trying to fit Commvault into a high availability box that it is not designed for?If using FSBasedBackups, are you also using regularly scheduled dump based backups?  In what scenario? Thank you very much, this forum has been fantastic!-Chris

So, I’ve inheirited this installation a few years ago.  One thing I never had to contend with, until now, is SAP.  We’re moving to the cloud and I simply need to disable a few databases from backing up.Now, SAP was done through the Command Center - I’ve been using the browser for everything to this point.  However, as I understand it (and this seems logical ...) - if we change things in the browser (which is “under the hood”), what’s done through command center may override those changes.  Thus, if it’s done throught the command center (aka, plans), it should be managed (as best as possible) through the command center.   This is akin to using stick-shift to automatic, it seems.Is this correct thinking?  Start with command center plans - work with it in plans/subclients and finish it with plans/subclients. Second - Ok - how does one disable a database backup in CV 11.32?  I have found “delete” on a database, but that smacks of delete the database - which is not what I wish to do.  In br

Hi Team,Im wondering if anyone has any success, or otherwise using S3 standard as a Primary copy.We will be deduplicating.That would not be my preferred option, as I always prefer faster disk than a Cloud-library offering, but the question is being asked.We do have some fairly large databases (a few TB’s) and I’m wondering how the throughput of say a 5TB DB would hold up in a restore situation.It would be good to hear people’s feedback on this subject.Thanks

I noticed that the latest price list no longer includes Threat Scan for VMs and Risk Analysis for VMs in the SKU list. This effectively means both services can now only be purchased or consumed based on the amount of processed FET.We recently added Threat Scan to our internal catalogue as part of our upgrade to FR40, and this sudden change is quite disruptive. Unexpected adjustments like this significantly impact MSPs and resellers, making it harder to position these services to customers because the cost becomes highly unpredictable.I’m curious to understand the reasoning behind this change, as in my opinion, it does not seem to support upsell, sales growth, or revenue generation.

Hello everyone,I'm looking to optimize storage for my SQL Server backups in Commvault using Application-Aware mode (VM backup with application consistency, without agent installed on VMs).Context:SQL backups via Application-Aware only (no Commvault agent installed) Need to apply different retention policies to optimize storage: Transaction logs: short retention (e.g., 7 days) Full backups: long retention (e.g., 30 days) Issue: I know this granularity is available with the Commvault SQL agent installed (via separate subclients), but in Application-Aware mode, I cannot find these options. It seems we're limited to a single retention policy for the entire VM.Questions:Is it possible to configure differentiated retention policies in native Application-Aware mode? Is there a solution through the Commvault REST API to manage this programmatically? Via MS TEAMS >Workflows>Manage I’ve created a workflow called Send Webhook Alerts to a Channel and copied the URL created. I’ve then go to Commvault Command Center>Manage>systems and created a Webhook and provided a name and used the copied URL. I’ve then sent a test alert from Commvault to the webhook however the status of the Webhook in Commvault remains in red with error he status 401 Unauthorized with the message{"error":{"code":"AuthorizationFailed","message":"The authentication credentials are not valid."}}I’m not providing any credentials. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hello Fello Commvaulters I hav the task of moving our current Index Cache and DDB database dat from their current drives I & D respectively to two new drives on the SAME media agent?  I can see a workflow which Ive used many times to move the data between the old media agent and the new one.  This is movement from within the same box. I dont see a WF in how to do this.  Anyone any ideas?  Also worth pointing out the “Index Server” tab on my media agent is greyed out.  

Hello!I hope you all doing well!I am playing with backup configuration for MAXDB, we would like to control it via worklof.Unfortunately while triggering backup via workflow we are getting two errors…One error for workflow called “SAP MaxDB” is: While trying to run workflow “SAP MaxDB XUSER” i do have this error:     When we do trigger a backup from server by the same command as is int the script/log: Then backup is working - but only triggered from server…Now we do have backup scheduled from crone, but we would like to trigger it from CV.
