Planning to move set of server in current commcell to new commcell.Commcell yet to build and AD creation in progress for independent environment.After commcell provisioned How to start the migration from old comcell to new. We like to keep the long retention backup. Any new media agent need to build?

We are in the process of addressing an audit finding to secure accounts that are members of the domain admins group.  The options were to either enable the “account is sensitive and cannot be delegated” on the account or make the account a member of the “Protected Users Security Group in Windows Server | Microsoft Learn” which both will cause backup issues.  This account is used to backup both AD and VMs in the environment.  Has anyone run into this?  If so, how did you resolve it?  

I am redesigning an existing All-in-One physical CommServe (CS + MA) into a distributed architecture.Current State: A single physical server hosting both the CommServe and MediaAgent packages. Hello,our SLA status is at only 60% after upgrading to 11.40. back in January. That means that about 40% says “missed” and when I check the SLA report it says “no finished job within SLA period” for about 500 clients.After checking them, I can say that there were indeed jobs running in the past few days for those clients (including full backups). The majority of those clients don’t have a file-system backup configured but SQL, EDB or VM backup.   Does anybody know where this issue may come from?Thanks in advance

Hello,One of our clients has an On-prem CommCell with IBM 3576-MTL6 library with 6 drives and over a thousands tapes. Considering customer is planning workloads/clients migration to a new CommCell is it possible to migrate indexes of these tapes and lift and shift actual tapes, however without migrating the actual library and tape drive hardware. Hello,I have installed cloned machine (remain same IP address and same name) instead original. On the Commvault backup server there were no changes. After the server was cloned, the backup from Commvault stopped working.Description: Failed to start phase [Backup] on [mailserver] due to network error [Remote machine [mailserver]. The socket connect failed. Error returned [-1=Connection to mailserver:cvd(8400/8400) failed on bck: Can't unambiguously route connection to mailserver because there are multiple tunnels from different instances of CVFWD pretending to be mailserver]. Check Network Connectivity.]. Will attempt to restart. I came to a client recently that had a large backlog of aux copy data and problematic tape libraries. After some remediation I got the tape copy running on 3 drives while awaiting replacements for a couple of broken ones. The replacements were done and following the resumption of the backup the tape copy job will only select one drive. So there are 2 media agents, each with a tape library attached, one has 3 drives and the other has 2 drives, so 5 in total. The storage policy has the 2 libraries in the path and 5 streams with multiplexing x 25. The drive pools on both libraries are set to use all drives. I cannot understand why it will only use a single drive since the backup job was resumed where it was using 3 previously. It now has 5 working drives which can all be seen in Commvault and all work fine in the Tape library GUI’s tests.Commvault version is v11.32.115.

Hello,We have multiple VMware VMs that were migrated between vCenters. The UUIDs of the VMs remained unchanged.In the Commvault console, we still see a single VM client; however, after the migration, a new Backup Set was created for the same VM.From a chargeback perspective, does this result in duplicate license consumption for these VMs?Thank you.

Hello,I’m experiencing an issue with backups from an IBM i server using Commvault.Recently, the scheduled backup jobs finish with the status “Completed” and without errors, but when reviewing the backup contents, no data appears to have been backed up.In this case, the backup configuration is set to back up only one specific library, and this is precisely the library that is not being backed up.So far, I have verified the following:The Check Readiness test is successful on both the IBM i client and the Proxy. The IBM i user configured for Commvault has the required privileges. Backups were working correctly last week. The backups run during early morning hours, when there is no system activity. I tested the Save While Active parameter using “*LIB” and “*SYNCLIB”. No network connectivity issues have been detected.Has anyone experienced a similar situation where the backup job completes successfully but the configured library is not backed up?Any guidance or suggestions on additional che

my current environment on primary side we are not using commvault dedup and compression using storage end. so when we are going to do the aux copy commvault dehyderate the data from storage and using the wan compression full data transfer to the DR side or second site and destination side we have data domain on primary we didn't have data domain. any possibility to dedup the data  before sending to the destination like DASH copy (only reference point transfer to the destination)  objective is to reduce the wan traffic instead of transferring whole backup. I know i am asking silly question. 

Hi, If anyone can explain, I would appreciate it.Commvault 11.32.119  Our company is gradually using Plans and a question has come up.  A question here. According to my research, Commvault creates two scheduling policies to satisfy the RPO. One is generic and the other is more specific to database agents.If the most specific database policy only has just one task, which is precisely the task that commands the Incremental backup, where is Commvault configuring the task to run a Full backup? Has Commvault configured the Full backup task in the generic policy (Test_Plan)? It seems to me that is what happened, but examining the policy, it's not possible to find anything in the Full backup task settings that states that a Full backup will run every hour, for example. I modified the rule "run incremental every 1 day(s) at 9:00 PM" by clicking on the pen icon and adding a rule. See the screen below. I checked the "Run full backup on databases every" option.  When examining the policies create

   We’re in the process of moving from VMware to Hyper‑V, and I’m seeing a pretty significant difference in IntelliSnap performance. Our Hyper‑V IntelliSnap jobs are averaging around 57 minutes, while the same workloads on VMware average 5 minutes.    Is this typical for Hyper‑V environments? I’d really like to hear what snapshot durations others are seeing with IntelliSnap on Hyper‑V.    Below is a chart comparing the two platforms. Each line represents a snapshot job. As you can see, the VMware jobs all complete within roughly an hour, while the Hyper‑V jobs stretch across a five‑hour window, which isn’t ideal for maintaining a tight RPO.Thank you, 

We have a lot Team sites. Now we are getting site which emailaddress is skipped from the backup with the reason: The SMTP address has no mailbox associated with it.It has a emailaddress. Hello Team,We are facing an issue during LiveSync failover in our Commvault Linux installation.commvault version - 11.40.34When we attempt to perform the failover, the CvFailoverLogShipping job gets triggered but fails with the following error:Error code: [30:436]Description: Instance validation failed: Insufficient SQL Server role. To configure the instance, the user [sqladmin_cv] must be a member of the SYSADMIN SQL server role.Source: rhel1Process: JobManagerTroubleshooting performed: Verified the SQL login configured in Commvault. Assigned required permissions, including SYSADMIN role, to the SQL user. Revalidated credentials after updating permissions. Verified permissions from the standby node as well; permissions appear consistent on both sides. Hi,I have several CommServe installations in our different offices, and I’m experiencing the same issue in all of them. I can access the CommServe URL without any problem, but many sections and pages do not display the information.They keep loading indefinitely, and a “Not Found 404” message appears briefly. I have tried restarting the Tomcat services and running iisreset, but the issue remains the same. I’m running version 11.36.87.Everything has been working with no problem for a long time, but now it’s not. Any idea about what can I do?
