By default, the Web Server is installed as part of the CommServe installation when IIS is enabled on the computer.If you did not install the Web Server during the CommServe installation, or if you want to install additional Web Servers on other computers, you can do so by using the installation package that was created from the Download Manager application.How do you create the installation package for the web server, because I cannot select webserver. If i install the Command center ,the web server is not installed. I use 11.40.38.My co-worker see the same issue.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/commcell-console/installing_web_server.html

We are using your api to automate our usage of commvault.Commvault version 11.40, cvpysdk 11.40A few days ago, we submitted a job to restore a VMWare virtual server, calling /v2/vsa/vm/{vm_uuid}/recover endpoint with the following arguments:{            'powerOnVmAfterRestore': True,            'passUnconditionalOverride': True,            'inPlaceRestore': True,            'newName': {vm_name}        } The job is created, and then ultimately failed due to media agent misbehaving. Our internal resource is investigating that front, while I deal with the following issue.In Command Center → vm detail → jobs section, we see that the job in question has the status of “Failed”: Yet if we go into the job detail page by clicking on the job id, the status becomes “Completed”And using cvpysdk to get the job, the returned object shows status being complete as well:Why is there a discrepancy? I need a user which has the permission to enable/disable scheduler and kill/suspend jobs in the job controller. My problem is that I can’t select only the commserve as Association in the user group. The user shouldn’t be able to see more than the commserve object.I can only select every entity, see in the following screenshot: I added the following permissions:Does anyone has a solution for thsi issue?

Hello,We are experiencing a challenge with Commvault and PostgreSQL in a clustered environment and would like to ask if there is a supported or recommended approach.Environment PostgreSQL cluster with 1 Master and 3 Standby nodes Automatic failover managed by Patroni Commvault PostgreSQL agent is configured at the cluster level Current Behavior Commvault is able to detect failover events correctly. However, when the Master role changes, Commvault does not automatically prioritize the new Master node for backups. After a failover, we must manually move the new Master node to the first position in the cluster client configuration. QuestionIs there: A native Commvault feature, or A supported best practice that allows Commvault to automatically switch backup operations to the active PostgreSQL Master node after failover, without requiring manual reordering of cluster nodes?

Background. 11.40We have a team that has permissions to run backups/restores and their management console is the command center.Recently we had a request for a Bare Metal restore for a Laptop. So my recommendation was to use 1-Touch but upon looking for the option on the laptop section, I noticed the option is not there. When I do the same thing within the File Servers entity, I can see 1-touch recovery. Chatting with Arlie, and I was told that, BareMetal restores for Laptops are not available within Command Center.So I thought I would ask the community if Arlie is correct or If I`m missing something here. If 1-Touch is truly not supported in Command Center for Laptops, would anyone know why? Just think its strange considering it leverages the same agent (File System) and its supported under File Server but not in Laptop? Will this be added in new FRs?I asked the same question here about 3 years ago, post last post on this thread but got no answer. Would appreciate some feedback on how

I am receiving the following error in the backup of a Hyper-V VMError code: [91:148]Description: There are too many existing backup snapshots on virtual machine [ServerName]. Backup snapshots are being cleaned up, but manual intervention may be required to ensure that all snapshots are removed. This may indicate that the storage is unable to keep up with the I/O activity of the virtual machine during a backup.Source: cs0003, Process: JobManagerWhen I look in Hyper-V Manager, I see no checkpoints for this server, so I’m unsure how to resolve this.  I assume it’s possible it may resolve itself over time, but this has come up the last 2 backup cycles. 

Hi Guys,just want to know, whether it is a bug or a feature, that the Workflow Activity ExecuteCommand changes the value of the input parameter command ?I tried to create a Workflow that executes commands on a linux client.If the command ends on .exe (funny), the program suffix is automatically removed by the WorkFlow,As a result, the executable is not found.As a workaround, I created a symbolic link pointing to the .exe file having the same name, but without the suffix. The Workflow does, what is expected, but I wonder why the program is altered at all.this happens in my environment running on V11.40rgdsKlaus

We have: Deleted those users from Exchange Online Released their licenses from Metallic Reassigned the licenses to new users We would like to confirm how long the backup data of the deleted (former) users will be retained in Metallic after license release.Kindly confirm the retention period applicable in this scenario.

Hello Commvault Community, Do you have any news about problems using the AllowUnsetComplianceLockOnDRCopy key for SP36?The ability to remove the Compliance Lock for the Primary copy within the CommServeDR StoragePolicy works for lower (SP32 for example) and higher (SP40 for example) Service Packs.I currently have a case where this key doesn't work in three lab environments (SP36).It's added at the global level for the entire environment (CommCell level) and is set to true: When I go to the CommServeDR policy, the option to remove the lock does appear, but after accepting the warning and closing the window with "OK," it doesn't load this setting and back to the previous setting.And after closing: Any idea what is going on? Thanks in advance!Kind Regards,Kamil

I have a small CommCell with a CommServe on 11.32.115 running on a build of Windows Server that needs a refresh.I could stand up a new VM with the same IP and hostname and do a DR DB restore and I guess I’m back up and running quickly with a clean build?But I noticed Commvault now offer a Linux CommServe and a pre-configured OVA appliance so I’m wondering if this is something I should be looking at instead? The current environment doesn’t use “plans” it’s all traditional storage policies and copies and schedule policies to run jobs out of business hours.I don’t tend to use Command Center I tend to use the Java UI but I guess that’s out of habit.It’s a pretty small and simple environment with just a few Windows file agents and a NAS agent pulling some UNC paths in.What would people suggest please?

Hello communityI am having an issue with getting the compliance lock unlocked on all secondary copies of my storage policies.  i have completed the following Filled in the form under resources on the website to get compliance lock lifted, using Commcell ID, Primary Copy name and ID, secondary copy name and ID and also passphrase which is correct. killed all logins using Qlogout.exe -all Logged back in using an account in the Masters Group ran the following the xml file provided by Commvault only has the IDs for the primary copy and the secondary copy.  It has no mention at all of the names of both the primary and the secondary  

Dears,I have a vCenter environment, and I created a Red Hat 8 virtual machine to be used as a VSA proxy.I installed the Virtual Server package and the File System package successfully.However, after completing the installation, this node does not appear as an Access Node in the Virtualization configuration.Kindly advise why this is happening.Note: I am currently using a trial license.

Good morning,We are experiencing an issue with our Commvault environment related to copying data to tape, and I am hoping someone can help explain the behavior or suggest a fix.Currently, our Commvault system is configured to take weekly FULL backups of all file shares and VMs every Thursday. Once these full backups complete, they automatically copy to tape. This process itself works as expected.The problem is the volume of data being written to tape.Each week, I have to manually update the Copy Policy “From Date” to the Monday of the current week to ensure that only the most recent data is copied. If I forget to do this, the amount of data copied to tape increases significantly.For example:January 2026 Week 1: I set the copy date to Monday 5th January. On Thursday, approximately 100 TB is written to tape (usually completing by the following Wednesday). Week 2: I forget to update the date. On Thursday, it again attempts to copy around 100 TB. Week 3: I forget to update the date aga

Hi Guys,We are planning to upgrade our Commserve from 11.28 to 11.40 Version. Our Commserve is on a physical server.What should be the roll backup plan if the upgrade activity encounters an issue? Can we use the 11.28 version DR backup set on another machine while installing 11.40 version instead of using manual upgrade package? In case of Commserver upgrade failure, can we use DR backup file generated from 11.28 version and use the same file to rebuild commserver from 11.40 package on same machine? Or we need another machine(physical/virtual). (Can this be treated as a rollback plan?) If upgrade fails in between, will registries and binaries get corrupted or will they get updated or remain the same. Do we need to upgrade Index from V1 to V2 before upgrade as this all is running in 11.28(point to be noted, we are using Tapes as primary storage and disk backup is only used for commserver dr backup which happens on commserver itself.) Will content indexing get any problems since this is

Hello All: It seems that CV is moving in a Rocky Linux direction, so I thought it would be good to replace my Windows MA’s with Rocky.  However, after chatting with Arlie it’s not supported for a Linux MA to backup Windows FS data (NetApp - NTFS vol).  It can backup via NFS, however it will loose the ACLs.I have for years used Windows to backup Linux volumes, so it would seem logical it could work in reverse.Thoughts?Dan

Does the encryption truly persist end-to-end from StoreOnce to tape in a real scenario? For the HPE MSL G3 tape library (which supports hardware encryption via encryption stick), is the StoreOnce software encryption sufficient on its own, or are there best practices requiring the hardware encryption stick to be enabled?Looking for experiences and best practices on whether the StoreOnce encryption

HiI have a problem with a Commvault LiveSync setup running with Rocky linux ver. 8.When I am doing a test failover all is looking good. But when I am trying to do a maintaince failover, the maintaince failover fails.It is faillling under the recovery process on the standby node with the error saying “Failed to generate new CS client certificate”.  I have been trying to stop the selinux and firewall on both CS, and still are getting this error. Does any have a idea on what is the problem?

Hi Commvault experts,We are designing an archiving workflow and we’d like to get your advice on the best practices. Let’s assume the source is NetaApp with SnapLock volumes (WORM) and target LTO tape library with WORM media.Our goal is to move/archive data from NetApp SnapLock volumes to WORM tapes for long-term retention (10+ years).What is the ideal storage policy for this setup? Does it make sense to use a “staging disk” as a Primary Copy and then a DASH copy to the tapes, or is there a better workflow for WORM volumes (primary copy directly to tapes)?We are also choosing between two tape strategies. The first is a "Clean Archive" where data is written only once to save media. The second is "Periodic Fulls" where we write the full archive again every so often for better safety. Given that the source data is immutable, which approach do you recommend?Your input will be much appraciated.

Hello,We got an repmgr postgres cluster, the backup works fine when i run them manually with both FsBasedBackup and dumpBasedBackip.i have assigned a plan for the cluster client, but only the dumpBasedBackup jobs are runninng, the FsBasedBackups jobs dont even start.I would like help with that problem.
