Active Directory Permissions to Back Up Group Policy Objects

Hello!Having just upgraded to 2024E, specifically 11.36.41, I notice the Active Directory agent now supports backups for GPO as documented here - Great. Changes in Commvault Platform Release 2024EHowever, the permissions required are not particularly helpful: Permissions to Back Up Group Policy Objects via PowerShell: The account must have the necessary permissions to back up GPOs using PowerShell cmdlets. By default, members of the Remote Management Users group possess these permissions. My question is, if you don’t want the account to be a member of “Remote Management Users” or admin groups, what granular permissions can be set on the account to still achieve the backup? full error:-----Currently whilst the backup is completing for AD as it always has, its now completing but with error “Failed to process group policy object”.Error Code: [28:548]Description: Failed to process group policy object. Couple of questions about Commvault Cloud's API. SAML? EntityID?

Hello,I have a couple of questions regarding Commvault Cloud’s API.  I have learned through this forum that to authenticate successfully with Commvault Cloud (CC) API, that I have to give the Base-64 encoded password and add the MFA Pin number.  Which works great with local accounts.  However, with our accounts that are authenticated through Okta (SAML), how is that done? I am trying to add a Tag to a long list of VMs, and the API mentions an EntityID.  When I use the API call to "https://api.metallic.io/V4/VirtualMachines" it gives me a lot of great info but no EntityID.  I tried calling "https://api.metallic.io/V4/VirtualMachines/$vmUUID" to see if that would give an EntityID, but I don’t see an EntityID in the results.  Where can I locate the EntityID?   Thank you!

CommVault feature like Veeam

Hi together,In Veeam, there is a feature called "Secure Backup" which is a service for DRP audits (backups recoverability is tested). Does anyone know this feature and can tell me if there is a similar function in CommVault?I have not found one yet (Version 11.24.94).thanks in advance for your answers and best regards Pascal

Reset of expired license - not showing

our license was expired yesterday 11 apr 2025 and we are not able to find the reset option. we followed below link to reset our license for backups to run for next 96 hours until the license is renewed.please any one faced similar issue and how you got reset option. which can resume backups for 96 hours.also is there any way to get temporary licenses soon.https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/extending_expired_license_in_commcell_console.html

Hello, during the VSA Backup, the following error appears by some virtual machines: “Timeout waiting for HotAdd Mutex, VDDK Deadlock encountered”The backup job completes with one or more errors. The VM’s with the above error are not backed up, while the VM’s w/o the above error are backed up successfully.HotAdd Mode is in use. What can be done done to fix this?Best regards, Aleksandra

Aux Copy throughput to AirGap 10 times slower when copying Synth fulls than incrementals

Hi, We are facing a strange behaviour with our auxcopy process. All week when we copy some incremental backups we are achieving pretty good throughputs but when it comes to weekly Synthetic fulls, for the same amount of data, the troughtputs are 10 times slower.We plan on migrating our VSA to indexing V2 hoping it could help.Any other ideas are welcome.Thx in advance

Migration of TSM Spectrum Protect to Commvault

Hi.I am planning for the migration of TSM (Spectrum Project) backup data to Commvault.I have a couple of questions around the configuration:1. For backup data from Linux TSM clients, a Linux Commvault Proxy/Staging client is required?2. Same as above for Windows TSM clients, then a Windows Commvault Proxy/Staging client is required?3. Script DDB partition move

We have an effort to migrate DDB partition to another local volume on the MA for 200+ servers. Doing this via GUI 200 times will not be fun. I’ve looked but haven’t found a command that I can leverage to automate this task. Can’t imagine there being no cli command or qscript for this.

Question about upgrade from 11.28.56 to 11.32.[latest]. Can it be done entirely through the Java console?

I want to upgrade from 11.28.56 to 11.32.[latest] and want to know if I can "just do it via the Java console" (just download the software update into the cache via the Java console then push/upgrade commserve/livesync commserve via the java console) It appears you can at first glance.. but after going through the docs there appears to be some indications I cannot/should not.Just wondering if anyone has done this or knows if I cannot do it via java console only. The docs are a little all over the place (the links below) and make me think I have to uninstall my commserve and MSSQL then reinstall both (from the media kit) and restore from a DR backup, then do the same to my livesync server…. all because my MSSQL DB versions are a bit out of date and out of sync.Background:I have all physical CommVault servers, so no VM snapshots possible I don't mind taking a commvault outage to do updates. I have a LiveSync commserve for DR and it also appears somehow the DB's for the commserve and DR/Li

Change AD domain user password. CVD.log shows error: failed to log in using [domain\user01] -1326

I changed the password for the AD domain account 'backup.user.' After checking the Commvault Communication Service logs, I found login failure entries, though I confirmed that the service is configured to run under the local system account (not a domain account). The CVD.log shows the error:*'failed to log in using [domain\backup.user] -1326.'*Could you advise how to check the login configuration for cvd.exe and update it with the correct credentials? Cut off part of the screen during installation.

Hi,When I install Commvault on hyperscale, part of my screen is cut off. Do you know of a solution?The effect is the same whether I use H5Viewer or JViewer. Zooming in or out doesn't help either. Just to add, everything was OK in the command line of Rocky Linux itself before running the installation.

Delete manually added VMs from content via api

I have used the apis to retire and delete the VMs but since the VMs are added everytime manually in the subclient, I would like to use the API to remove it from the content as well. I used the below mentioned API and it deletes the complete content. Guest File Restore Only Showing C Drive

I seem to have multiple servers that only show the C drive when doing a guest file restore. If I mount a whole disk I can see all the others. I have other servers in the same backup Plan that work fine, have very similar servers that work fine, I can’t tell why it isn’t showing. Anyone had this? I’ve logged a ticket but not much of a response so far
