Hi folks,A few questions for you.We have HPE Apollo 420 Gen10 nodes and one of them is reporting a fan failure in its iLO.This has been confirmed by the vendor and we are replacing it soon. In meantime I have checked the HyperScale Health Report and is reporting all fans OK across all nodes. Why is that? How Commvault is providing data to the HyperScale Health Report? If this is not a reliable data, why to bother showing this in the report?
We have Intellisnap backups configured and all VMs are configured in 1 backup job; unfortunately as we are currently using NBD mode, I noticed some backup copy jobs got delayed for days and now showing error “VM not found” for certain VMs. although I can go back to the snapshot job; do a mount snapshot. Like 1 specific VM holding the whole Snapshot in storage and causing issues If I were to select do not copy these specific corrupt restore points to backup storage and trigger a backup copy will it just do like a differential or will I have to do a new full Intellisnap backup and dont copy the historical restore points; we have weekly retention for storage snapshot and yearly retention for weekly full
Hello everyone,I’m currently storing backups on a HyperScale 1.5 cluster that was purchased back in 2018. I’ve just taken delivery of three HPE servers to act as a HyperScale X cluster to replace my aging HyperScale 1.5 media agent. Does anyone know of a detailed list of steps / project plan / checklist that can be used for such an undertaking?I see the high level steps as:Rack the servers Install the HyperScale OS Connect the new cluster to Commvault Update backups to use the new storage Migrate backups from the old HS 1.5 to the new HS X storage Disconnect the empty HS 1.5 media agent from Commvault Power off the HS 1.5 servers, remove them from the rack, and dispose of them. The reason I’m looking for detailed steps is that I’m sure there are items I’m not aware of that need consideration. Some examples of this are 1) enabling encryption of backups and 2) enabling ransomware protection. There’s probably other things I need to consider that I’m not aware of and I don’t want to get to
We have newly provisioned HSX platform and we are doing VSA backups on Vmware 8We are utilizing Intellisnap At the moment we have one job using PRD tag and another job doing non-prd and UAT tagsThese are HSX nodes (11) and over 1000 VMs Although the backups are running the backup copies seem to be taking a long time (NBD; we will migrate to SAN mode)Also, we have tag based exclusions; so if a VM is both in excluded tag(RDBMS should not be snapshotted) and included tag (Some RDBMS should be which dont have agent based backup) the VMs does not get backed up; we are currently manually adding those vms to backup and that seem to work. Is there a better way to use tags say we will have to add specific VMs to configuration In our old Commvault environment we have VM data-store based jobs (IntelliSnap again) but these had virtual proxies and because each ds backup triggered at a different time and separate virtual proxies(hot-add); it seemed more efficient in terms of backup copies. Now the
Hi team, I have a trouble when i creating lab for hyperscale edge,When setup failed register with commserve and for question is do we need to first commserve separately from the appliance? Thanks
Good day to allIn my environment HSX went ready mode due to reached 85% threshold i have changed the retention policy from 30 days 1 cycle to 30 days 0 after that i overserved DDB is 0% previously it was 33% also space is not reclaimed post reclaim and data aging jobs. Kindly suggestRegardsRobert
Is it normal behavior for all nodes the the Hyperscaler cluster to ran out of memory after few months without reboot. We had the issue with 11.32, no change with 11.36. Migrating from Hyperscale from 2.x to 3.x didn’t improve the situation. Only fix is to reboot each node. They each have 512GB. After a reboot they have about each 300GB free. Most of is buff/cache.When the have less then 10%, dashboard memory turns to red.
Hello,I am currently attempting to reinstall three HyperScale X nodes that were previously configured with immutability (WORM enabled). Each node is equipped with 24 × 18 TB disks.During the fresh installation, the process consistently stalls at around 68%. After more than 2 hours, there is no further progress, whereas the expected installation time is typically between 45 and 90 minutes.Additionally, I am not seeing any relevant logs generated on the nodes during this stage, which makes troubleshooting difficult.Given the previous immutability configuration, I would like to confirm: Is there any specific cleanup or prerequisite required before reinstalling these nodes? Could residual data or disk metadata from the previous configuration cause this behavior? At this stage, would you recommend proceeding with a full reimage of the nodes, or is there a supported cleanup procedure to resolve this?Thank you for your assistance.Best regards,
Hello everybody,I am posting here because the help from Commvault so far on this subject has been poor. We are ESM customers so pay extra for support, but my account has so far not been able to give me the answers that I need. About 4 years ago we had an HSX cluster installed into our environment. This was part of a global deployment, so I assuming that the install was carried out by a Commvault professional that would have performed all the necessary tests before installing the OS, like checking that the OS disks were mirrored. Nobody from Commvault has been able to confirm who did the installation. The install does not appear to have done correctly, and what I have here are three HPE DL380 Gen10 12LFF nodes with the OS installed on a Linux LVM volume that spans across two 480GB SSDs. This is the same on all three HSX nodes. This has never actually caused us any issues, but was only picked up recently whilst trying to perform the RHEL to Rocky automated conversion, which got as far as
Hi,I have built a three node HSX Cluster.I am now going to isolate this cluster where nothing is allowed to talk to it. I will be using CV Network Topologies & Gateways to perform my backups. My question is, as all the nodes are isolated they wont be able to reach a NTP server. Will this setup eventually cause me an issue ? Thanks
Hello!Considering an HSX environment. How does the data aging process compare to the DDB space reclamation?Sometime I only see space being reclaimed after a DDB space reclamation job.Regards,Pedro
Hi everyone,I am currently performing a hardware refresh/migration from a legacy Media Agent to a new Commvault HyperScale Edge (Single Node).Current Setup: CommServe is on a separate dedicated server. Legacy MA: Windows Server with local disk libraries (NTFS). New Setup: HyperScale Edge (Single Node). Already joined to the CommCell, and the HyperScale Storage Pool is created. Proposed Migration Plan: Since I cannot simply move the DDB/Disk (due to the architecture change to HS Storage Pool), I plan to do a Side-by-Side migration: Create a Secondary Copy on the existing Storage Policies. Set the Target Library as the new HyperScale Storage Pool. Run Auxiliary Copy to sync all data. Once synced, Promote the Secondary Copy to Primary. Decommission the old MA. My Questions: Is this the recommended workflow for migrating to HyperScale? When creating the Secondary Copy, should I expect any specific behavior regarding the DDB association, since the target is a Storage Pool? A
Dear All, I am trying to build a HyperScale X Lab in our office. I am using sp40_13_hsx_prod_dvd_09152025_061956.iso it is failing on Creating Building Storage Configuration. Please assist.
Hello, can I use HyperScale X nodes for configuring and running ThreatScan feature? Thanks.Jan
Hello,I’m trying to back up Netapp CIFS share with the Hyperscale as access node The hyperScale have 11.36 with ISO 3.2506I cant choose the HSX as access node while browsing the content and the back up failed with “Failed to mount file share volume“the HSX has cifs-utils installed and samba-client installedAM I missing someting that is required for CIFS backup with Hyperscale X as access node?
We are looking at trends in Commvault to provide forecasting on the onsite storage (Hyperscale X). We need to provide the client with possible dates of when the storage will run out based on the past 6 months usage. We are busy implementing a CV metrics server but not sure if this will provide the result/report we need.
HI All, i just want to know the process how the data get reconstructed on the disk after the replacement. I’m aware the hyperscale uses Erasure coding in back end but not sure if we have any document defining the process.
Hi friends,Good day! I got this situation, there was data disk failure happened and new disk was not yet replaced, but a DDB verification job got started, it reported completed with error due to some block can’t be read, but the DDB verification succeeded the nex day, but the new disk not yet replaced too. why this happened? does this mean that hyperscale reconstruct the data blocks on the failed disk to the rest good disks? I thought it should like RAID when a data block on a missed drive can be calculated out by EC code from the rest drives when access request come? Thanks,Leo
We have multiple orchestrated replication groups that we need to disable when work is done on the target virtual centre. Currently we have to disable every replication group on its own. Does anyone know of a way to disable adn enable all replcaition groups with a script or workflow?
after shifting from hyperscale 1.5 to hyperscale X our db2 restore taking longer time. open ticket with support they reviewing and found it’s known issue for read fragmentation drops on cvfs during so requested to upgrade the CVFS version so we upgraded to CVFS version along OS patch upgrade but after that issue not resolved and request to move the ticket to development any one faces similar issue like reading data from hyperscale X. I run the mount path validation for check throughput and getting 70MB/s read throughput even the same throughput i got once i run the CVperformance tool.
Hi, we want to know what can we do if we have, unintentionally, enabled worm storage lock on our hyperscale X ?we understand the part where we can disable compliance lock through form for the Storage policies but what can we do about the storage pool? Regards
All, Has anyone experienced the following. I have a three nodes HSX Ref architecture cluster and I have “enable password-based root access” disabled. This means I can’t connect to it over SSH or iDRAC. Yesterday I patched my cluster but the services on one of the nodes hung. So, I went into the Command Centre and enabled password-based root access but because the node was hung the Command Centre could not talk to it to enable password-based root access so I could not connect to it. As a work around I was able to enable password on node 2 and from here SSH to node 1 which allowed my restart the services and get the node back online. My question is how would I connect if all three of my nodes were in a hung state ?
Hi. Is there a way to monitor Hypercale update via the logs? The WEBui or the job log are almost useless. I have a 3 node Hyperscale cluster, is there a better way to follow the progression?

Hi, I want to have my firewall enabled on my HSX cluster but for monitor reasons I want to be able to ping the data protection network. Is this possible ?
