Hi Guys,

I need to upgrade from 11.32 to 11.36 in a live sync, what is the best way doing in full downtime without initiating maintenance failover as described in documents, so if I download and Sync cache can i upgrade active / standby commserve one by one, means first active then standby. Also, MS SQL will be updated along with from 2019 to 2022?

After this I can upgrade commvault software on hyperscale-x, is there any need to upgrade hedvig or OS patches as we are currently on 2.2410 and 3.2410 (mix of RHEL and rocky)

Please I am waiting for your valuable advice.

Regards,

AQ

If you dont want to failover, you can stop services on both active/passive CommServe machines and install the update from the boostrap installer.

You can migrate/update HSX / Commvault file system from V2 to V3 - we have an in-depth course: https://commvault.csod.com/ui/lms-learning-details/app/curriculum/78f9231f-09ff-470e-a5f3-fcfbe7bc865b

Do you have a newer link to this info? I am in similar situation and would like to get latest documentation? BTW I took the Readiverse course and that was one of those in a perfect world it would work like that but it we all know it won’t.Thx

Hi @Chris Colhard - thanks for the timely follow-on here. I’ll create an HSX upgrade quick guide to make it easier to get to all this stuff, but for now here are the links to other docs and the newer course links around HSX migrations/upgrades.

Updated course links on the new Readiverse portal(s):

Yea readiness check is no good if you cannot email out, it fails. Some of us work in dark or semi-dark sites.

@Chris Colhard thanks for surfacing that concern - I checked with our HSX team and confirmed there is an option not to send an email to Commvault and still review the output yourself. But if there are any questions about that or you run into any failures please open a support ticket for us to work through with your team.

One more question, I’ve watched the readiverse course a couple of times and he doesn’t mention putting the nodes into maintenance mode before starting the migration script, is that not required?

@Chris Colhard the script will handle this as it upgrades each node at a time.
