Hello Commvault Team,

I have a question regarding the operating system support matrix in Commvault 11.46.

The Linux File System Agent System Requirements document lists support for:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10
  • Oracle Linux 10

However, Rocky Linux 10 and AlmaLinux 10 are not listed.

At the same time, the 1-Touch and Virtualize Me for Linux System Requirements document includes support for AlmaLinux 10 (and Rocky Linux 10).

This seems inconsistent, so I would appreciate some clarification.

Could you please help answer the following questions?

  1. Why are Rocky Linux 10 and AlmaLinux 10 supported for 1-Touch but not for the Linux File System Agent?
  2. Is this an intentional support policy or simply a documentation difference?
  3. Are Rocky Linux 10 and AlmaLinux 10 currently under validation for the Linux File System Agent?
  4. Is support planned for an upcoming Maintenance Release or LTS release?

We are currently planning new Linux deployments, and understanding the roadmap will help us decide which operating system to standardize on.

Thank you for your clarification.

Hi @su-bin papa - thanks for raising this. I checked with our product team and sounds like an oversight on the documentation side and we’ll request to get that updated. For now, quick answers to your questions above.

Why are Rocky Linux 10 and AlmaLinux 10 supported for 1-Touch but not for the Linux File System Agent?

They will be supported for both, it is likely the backup agent documentation does not cover all the RHEL based operating systems, but for 1-touch they have specifically been tested.

Is this an intentional support policy or simply a documentation difference?

Just a documentation difference / pending update.

Are Rocky Linux 10 and AlmaLinux 10 currently under validation for the Linux File System Agent?

They will be supported, they are binary compatible to RHEL

Thank you for confirming this.

Just one follow-up question:

Can you confirm which Commvault release officially supports Rocky Linux 10 and AlmaLinux 10 for the Linux File System Agent?

For example, was this support already available in 11.42/11.44, or is it officially introduced in 11.46?

This information would be helpful for customers planning new deployments.

@su-bin papa they were specifically tested for 1-Touch from 11.40 on. For backup generally, Commvault started supporting RHEL 10 with 11.36 onwards.
