Hey everyone, so as the titles states we are running Commvault 11.20.82 on win 2012 R2. Right now we are just considering doing the OS upgrades as 11.20 is still LTS until 2025; but if there is simple way to do them both without breaking anything that would be great. From what I understand this is an agentless setup, with Commvault talking to the hypervisor/vcenter, and the server being a VM itself backing up to netapp storage. Let me know what you guys think would be the best way forward or point me in the right direction.

Hi,on my new DC (behind an internal Sophos firewall) i have installed the AD plugin for commvault.When i try to browse i can’t see the content of my AD.On other DCs (no FW between it) it works fine.The network admin says that nothing is blocked.He catches the traffic from DC to Mediagent and Commcell.What can causes this?RegardsDennis

Cannot update copy with override retention when storage pool is using Storage WORM lock property set.It is only possible to add/remove associations when we remove the option of WORM storage lock?I know the procedure.@Commvault feedback: It is maybe better to make possible that we can add. Hello Everyone,Currently our Synthetic Fulls that do our weekend backups are taking way to long and putting our system at risk. They run well into Wednesday and they kick off on a Friday Night. I have seen other posts about simultaneous Synthetics slowing down the system and we do have them running against one business server, however the way they were setup before my time each job is doing different sections of that drive. I am trying to determine how to alleviate this issue. Would SSD drives for our Media Agent help, we currently still have old mechanical drives installed. Do we need to throw more processing power at the Server itself? We are trying to roll into Metallic to replace tapes and at the speed the backups happen even if we can get our system to send to Metallic instead of tapes it will be so many days behind if we do have an issue we are pretty much dead in the water. Hello! I know CBT is a VMware functionality that Commvault and other backup softwares use. Netbackup leverages the advantages of CBT on both full and incre/diff jobs. Does the same apply to Commvault? There are AD plans available in commvaut- but that only backs up the objects. The only way to get the full backup is a system state- which is not included in an AD backup. There is also a test workflow within the command center that will test the forest recovery. My questions is - has anyone had to actually do a domain restore? Im not talking Bob’s account that was deleted, but an actual domain controller restore and domain restoration. I would love to hear about it.

I had setup a scheduler to perform Full backup everyday and the storage policy associated to it has retention of 0 days and 1 cycle. I had run the scheduler manually twice on the same day, data backup is successful but the first data backup is not deleted from cloud storage yet.

Hello,I have a storage policy which has different types of sub-clients associated with it as shown below. Majority of vCenter SubClients have single datastore as its content and some have VMs as its content. All the datastore are on NetApp storage volumes and we have IntelliSnap integration.Storage Policy has following copies:Backup Copy is disabled so no jobs are going to Primary (Classic) copy and neither any jobs are queued for backup.Some of the associated subclients are perfect for aux copy to B4 in terms of availablility of snapshots, jobs, snapmirror relationships but few of the subclients have issues like primary snapshots beyond retention, some snapshots deleted from storage or issue with snapmirror. Now the AUX Copy is not completing, it completes with errors. No issues reported in AuxCopyMgr.log.Should the subclients which are perfect for Aux copy complete or it needs all the subclients in the storage policy to be ready for Aux Copy to complete? Hi Folks,we need to create quite a lot of custom packages (rpm) for linux clients on a regular basis (SAP-Oracle, SAP-Hana, Linux-fs, and so on.)We are currently doing this via ./cvpkgadd and then clicking through a lot of pages until the custom package is finished at the end. is there a way to automate this process via some command line where all necessary options (most of them can be left at the default value) are provided (which packages to include, to which commserve to connect to, ...)?Thanks for any ideas on this :)
Hey guys!!I'm having the following problem, I have 24 Linux VMs in a given VM Group, due to a wrong configuration in the filters, in the preview a total of 387 Windows Vms were listed that were not backed up in the Linux VM Group. When verifying in the Vm Group Windows, the backup of these machines was performed.In view of this, I ask, is there a way to clear this count by removing the machines that are not part of the VM Group, leaving only the VMs in the right group?Hugs!

Hello there CV community,We are in a situation where we expect there may be some data in one of our disk libraries that is not associated to retained backup jobs. The jobs data stored on this disk library utilizes deduplication, so primarily the folder data contains deduplication chunks. We would like to validate that the content on the disk library is “current” i.e. associated with retained & deduplicated backup data. In this case, the storage is Azure object storage.Based on Damian’s post here: Clean Orphan Data , what is it? | Community (commvault.com), our hope was that we could use the DDB space reclamation feature alongside the ‘Clean orphaned data’ option to do this automatically. To test this, I ran the operation in a test environment after having stored some arbitrary files alongside legitimate backup data within the storage. Hello!Customer used to run VMware backup using Netbackup, via NBD. They moved to Commvault and SAN transport mode.Happens that, even with few data readers (6), underlying storage (SAS+SSD pool on a DELL Purity) where the Datastores resides is suffering a lot. Overall latency goes so high that the production environment goes down. We are using HSX and SAN is 16Gb.Does anyone has any experience with situations like this? Any clue? Is there a way to launch a task from the media agent to the remote host that I want to take as a vmware backup.I have a Windows media agent like "access node" for Vmware backupsI did a task with putty which does a stop/start of a service on a remote linux host with authentication by ssh key. it works fine from a session on the windows media agent host.I put the path of this task in the pre snap and post snap of the Vmware sub client with the same user/password that I used for the test.When backing up the subclient, nothing happens and I don't see any presnap/postsnap call or task name specified in the backup job logs.1-) is this supposed to work?2-) if so how can I follow the operation?
