Dears I am newbie to Commvault and now we implemented Commvault at our Hotel everything works fine except we can't backup Opera server. So if any one has a guideline on how to backup the opera server to share it with me I will be grateful for him.

Can you please help us with getting some clarification on the CVE-2021-44228. Looks like CVE-2021-44228 also impacts the Log4j 1.x Since we still have /opt/commvault/Base64/DbJars/log4j-1.2.16.jar, we are being told by our Cyber team that according to CVE-2021-44228 on the  https://logging.apache.org/log4j/2.x/security.html Below is the snippet from logging.apache.org link aboveLog4j 1.x mitigationLog4j 1.x does not have Lookups so the risk is lower. Applications using Log4j 1.x are only vulnerable to this attack when they use JNDI in their configuration. A separate CVE (CVE-2021-4104) has been filed for this vulnerability. To mitigate: Audit your logging configuration to ensure it has no JMSAppender configured. Log4j 1.x configurations without JMSAppender are not impacted by this vulnerability. Does commvault use JNDI with Log4j 1.x ?

how to check current log4j version in commcell server?

one of our departments is saying our servers we use for Commvault are using log4shell v1.2x. They need to update it to v2.16.0.  Im green when it comes to this topic. is this log4shell a third party app which the server has installed prior to Commvault software, or is this something that Commvault installs, and is resolved by updating the Commvault software? Thats where the confusion comes into play for me, because it comes down to whether or not the department that brought this up is asking us for permissions to update it, or if this is something to do with commvault software which my team needs to handle?

hey all  - quick question.  I have a few customers that are running a physical media agent at alternate data centers.  Can I install the Commserve and Failover package on these media agents?  I see this in documentation, but I’m not sure if I have to re-install the media agent into the same instance?If the MediaAgents must be available on the CommServe, then it must be installed in the instance in which the SQL Server agent and the CommServe Failover packages are installed.Wouldn’t my media agent just be independant of the failover commserve?  or do I add the Commserve failover to the existing instance001?  In both cases, there is no infrastructure at DR to build a separate virtual server.ThanksMelissa 

Hi, In BOL it states that it is possible to backup Azure Virtual Machines based on tags (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.25/expert/31314_defining_filters_for_content.html): “Tags (ARM): Select a tag or virtual machine owner.” However in Azure a tag consists of a name and a value. How is this going to work out? Does Commvault look at the tag alone or also at the value? Unfortunately I am not able to test this.Thanks!

I’m new to CommVault.  I read and followed the instructions for installing the Log4J vulnerability fix, but I’m not sure if I did it correctly/Successfully.  Does anyone know of a way to verify that the fix is actually installed on one of my client computers?

Hi Guys, I have a question with EdgeDrive i Webconsole. We implement the Edge Drive functionality.The DMZ hosts the "files.kowr.gov.pl" host and is connected to it by external users via Webconsole. When generating a public link through the browser, everything is OK, the link is correct, that is. https://files.kowr.gov.pl/webconsole/gtl.do?gid=w8EcrEkbSI specify the e-mail addresses to which the public link is to be sent:And in the received e-mail, the link changes, i.e. the host name in the link changes from files.kowr.gov.pl "to" cv-commserve.ap.arr.gov.pl Please help where you can change any parameter to make the link correct, i.e. with the correct host.In addition, please let me know how the template of the sent e-mail can be changed so that I can make changes in accordance. 

Hi, I was thinking that since a Core edition of Windows is supported as OS for Commservehttps://documentation.commvault.com/11.25/expert/2801_commserve_server_system_requirements_windows_01.htmlANDCIS hardened image is all about security, wouldn’t it make sense for the Core edition of OS to be the default choice?Are there any downsides or limitations (besides the obvious - no GUI) of choosing Core OS edition as platform for Commserve?

We make daily backups of our servers.Every month we write the backup data on tapes.The retention period for these tapes is one year.For December, we create an end-of-year backup with unlimited retention time.Our goal is to have an annual backup for December and reuse the remaining months' tapes after one year.Due to server retirement, there are monthly tapes that we cannot reuse without first deleting the contents (Retain time until: infinite). If we do so, we lost data.Is there a solution to this problem?

Hello -  Commvault v20.11.77 so I copied the Log4J windows updates and Linux updates to the cache.  I see them in there..SNIP: When I performed the upgrade software option I noticed on my windows clients I only see 1 of the 2 windows patches?  Im wondering whySnip same with my linux clients: Do I need to perform the upgrade one patch at a time? or are both patches needed?  Im a little confused.   Im not proficient with commvault. I was expecting to see both “4562” & “4563” for windows clients and both “4561” & “4563” for the linux clients.  Please advise.. ThanksI ran the updates all at the same time..  Maybe I needed to do them one at a time?   They all are in the cache details..ThanksBC
