Hi, In BOL it states that it is possible to backup Azure Virtual Machines based on tags (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.25/expert/31314_defining_filters_for_content.html): “Tags (ARM): Select a tag or virtual machine owner.” However in Azure a tag consists of a name and a value. How is this going to work out? Does Commvault look at the tag alone or also at the value? Unfortunately I am not able to test this.

Thanks!

Hello @iConsultant

“Disk Tag: In the Name box, type the name of a tag or a pattern using the '*' wildcard to represent a string of characters (for example, name123 or name*). In the Value box, type a value for the tag or a pattern using the '*' wildcard to represent a string of characters (for example, value123 or value*). Both the Name and Value fields are used together to identify specific disks.”

So basically you can use the tag with both the name and value or just the name with a wildcard using the example above

Thanks @Dan White this looks great. May I safely assume this is also valid for whole VM's (not disks)?

Correct!

Should work for both disks and VMs
