Hello,I have a Commcell set up on MS Azure VM’s. Commserv + 4 MA’s.Need to move these VM’s to a different Vnet/Subnet.The only way to do it is to :Delete the VM but keep the OS Disk + Data disks Deploy a new VM in the new Vnet\subnet and use the still existing OS Disk + data diskQuestion is whether Commvault application will still work after this change ?Are there any dependencies of Commvault binaries on IP address level ? Thanks

We are trying to recover (virtualize) the hyper-v machine for a test.The recovered computer is both a domain controller and a Terminal Services server.What account to use when there is no local administrator account on the server and there is only a domain one?Do you need to modify the used 1-Touch image in any special way, because the machine does not get up after recovery. I was wondering what are the steps to be done before the restore.Also what is the high level flow of the process for this.As per oracle doc: When Automatic Storage Management (ASM) disk groups are used, an RMAN restoreoperation creates new copies of data files only if the full name of a data file, includingthe incarnation, does not match with the name of an existing data file.A fully qualified ASM file name is of the form +diskgroup/dbname/filetype/filetypetag.file.incarnation.When you first restore the control file and then restore the other database files, the names of the datafiles in the control file may not match with the names of the existing data files and therefore the data files are recreated.Use one of the following methods to ensure that existing data files are not recreated during a restore or duplicate operation:■ In the control file, use alias names for each data file. IHi All,  An oracle database backup has been killed by me and I want to delete its backup sets from media to reuse this consumed space and I found the below  https://documentation.commvault.com/11.25/expert/13998_delete_job_from_copy.htmlAs per this document the option delete job under view jobs from storage policy copy not from storage policy but I have no storage policy copy created on my environment . how can I delete these backup sets ?

is possible to deploy active active at CommServe level or required MS Clustering and if MS Clustering is required more license for node 2 ?

In my organization, I have two HP MSL4048 tape libraries containing two Ultrium drives which uses LTO7 tapes with a capacity of 5.47 TB. The firmware for both libraries are the same. The Use Appendable media setting is 14 days.For the two years, for one of the tape libraries, about once every two months one of the empty tapes gets written to but it doesn’t fill up to the capacity. And if in three days the tape is not written to, then it will not be written to at all and will choose a different tape, even though it’s before the appendable setting of 14 days, and its media info properties clearly states Yes of it’s appendable. The other tape library on the other hand will always fill tapes to its capacity.Attached file no_writing_prematurely.jpg shows such an example. The last time it was written to was on 12/6/21, and the tape is not full and there’s 7 more days to be appendable. But it will not be written to at all. HiIt would be great if the following was possible:For  a Storage Policy Copy to be able to Filter the Subclient Associations for a Copy by filtering on a ‘name’ (or other parameter) It would allow for fewer storage policies to be created eg a single Storage Policy would allow a Primary a Secondary for example, for all the primary subclients but various other Secondary Copies could be created (aa) Secondary_Copy_Send_to_Worm_Drive (bb) Secondary_Copy_Send_to_Azure (cc) Secondary_Copy_Send_to_AWS and ‘filter’ rules could be used (Even if it was only based on subclient names) as to which subclients can ‘use’ which Secondary Copies  (Yes - this is possible via qoperations, but very messy)

Hi Gurus,One of my customer got a restore request of a folder which accidently deleted from a vm 3-4 days back.(We are having weekly full & daily incremental backup of the vm using intellisnap.)Surprisingly when he browsing the file with Latest or Date range option, he don’t see the folder under browse result, but when he browses from backup history (incr or last full job) he do see the folder there.Ideally, he should see the file while browsing with Lastest or Date Range option also. Am I right?Also, I don’t see any option like “show deleted files..” which we have in Endpoint solutions. Thanks,Anuj

Our Database team which handles SQL servers and SQL databases has sent us a notice that they are wanting to upgrade the SQL Database from 2014 to 2019. “Hello Team,BKR-BKCOM-01/COMMVAULT is still running on an old version of SQL 2014, hence we need to upgrade the server to latest version of 2019. Can you help us on how to proceed? This is a physical server so we need a new physical server to host the 2019 version then move the databases. Once tested, then we can offline the old 2014 version and online the new server to production.”I don't know if they are saying they want a new server for the Commvault Commserve or if they are hinting at their own server, which makes no sense why he added that in the email. Hello guys, The client would like to perform delegation of some mailboxes from the admin level.However, when we try the following procedure, we cannot see the 'Exchange' entry under 'Protection / Applications' section. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/essential/107643_delegating_mailbox_or_folder_using_exchange_mailbox.html  The Exchange Mailbox agent is properly configured in the CommCell Console.CommServe is running 11.25.x My question is, is there any way to migrate Exchange Mailbox settings from CommCell Console to Command Center? Rgds,Kamil 

Hi all,we have following issue. From time to time, there are 5 VMs that are failing their backups because virtual disks need consolidation. It occurs once in two weeks approximetlly and affected are always the same 5 VMs. Other VMs within the same VSA proxies (Hotadd mode) are backed up without this issue.What could cause this issue and how to troubleshoot it? There is an old backup software on some of that VMs, but some VMs are without any stale backup software. Take care!

Hello,I’m wondering what’s the proper approach to data verification in native cloud environments. The environment is built within the cloud, CS, MA, Cloud Libs etc. are placed in the same cloud solution, so the infrastructure traffic basically stays within the cloud.  The only reference that I’ve found in the docs was:Tip: By default, the data verification schedule policy that is created by the system is not configured with data mover MediaAgents that use a cloud storage product, because the read operations from the cloud are very slow and are performed on low latency media. If necessary, you can perform the data verification on the cloud storage manually.To run data verification on data that is stored on archive cloud storage, first recall the data to the main cloud storage location. As maybe know the last day’s a lot of actions needs to performed regarding the Log4j vulnerbility. Is this also been used in the Commvault software?If so is there a patch/fix upcoming?  

Hi All, we are looking for an easy way to check, if a Hotfix provided from support is included in the upcoming MR Release.In the past we could compare the numbers, but something changed and now the numbers doesn’t match anymore.Currently we want to check if the v11SP24_Available_Diag3055-Hotfix already made it into the MR 16But the Number doesn’t match anything from thelisted https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/assets/service_pack/updates/11_24_16.htm,Anybody knows, who to translate the Diag-Patch Numbers?Or do we have to create a Ticket with Support to get it checked?

I started looking at the MFA on Command Centre and baffled as it is flawed. If my domain account has been compromised, I would be expecting the second factor to be the 2nd line of defence. But no, you can request a new pin that gets sent to your compromised domain account e-mail address. I then looked to see if I can amend my account by adding an external e-mail address, but LDAP pulls this from the domain and can not be edited. By editing the e-mail script we can omit the pin, but I think this hasn’t been thought through by Commvault, considering that backups are supposed to be the last line of defence against a cyber attack the two factor serves only to delay the time it takes for SMTP to deliver a new pin.

Hey all - we are having a VSS failure for our DDB backups.  Providers look fine but seems like there is some sort of issue with it.Windows Application Log error says the provider could not be started.  The provider referenced is the Galaxy VSS Provider Service.  It is telling us there are no associated devices.This has been working just fine and then just randomly started failing on Nov 22nd.  Nothing has changed on the media agent.When running the vss creation manually - the error is VSS_E_UNEXPECTED_PROVIDER_ERRORCustomer will most likely open a ticket but wondering if anyone has any ideas?PS- we rebooted just for the heck of it...

For Windows File System backups, 2 System State filters are being deprecated in 11.21:{One touch files} {Offline files}These are being deprecated going forward since filtering these items will limit the ability to perform One Touch Restores.  Going forward, these filters cannot be added, though existing filters will be honored.Please note that if these filters were added as a workaround and are removed, they cannot be re-added.  If errors arise as a result, please create a new discussion, or comment below.
