I am delegating access to my DBA group so that they can manage their own clients, including pushing agents from the Commserve.  I’ve granted their role access to:  However when these users open up their Commcell GUI, the “Install Software” button (under the Tools menu item) is not there.  If they log in to the web (admin) console - they *can* push the agent that way.  But we would much prefer for them to be able to manage everything from the same location (i.e. the commcell GUI) rather than flip back and forth.  Is there some other permission that I’m missing?

Good morning.    Our SQL administrators save their DB’s via a tool to produce flatfile backups to a share.  We then backup that share using CV.  I am wondering if there isn’t a canned script or set of regular expression “filters” we can have CV use to only grab the files that have been created or modified during a certain amount of time, say 72 hours for an example.  That way when we run a full, or synthetic full, against that share our capacity license impact will be reduced. 

If you don’t mind id like to piggy back off your thread. Someone made a comment that the full synthetics would not stack and run at the same time. I’m having trouble with that where several full synthetic jobs are kicking in at the same time. Is there a way to have the system only run 1 at a time without me having to go in there and scheduling them all out?

Hello  With Indexing v1 VSA clients, we cannot run multiple backup jobs on the same VMGroup. Is there a way that we can submit multiple backup jobs at the same time and each starts as soon as the other finishes. Maybe through RESTAPI? I tried looking at the BackupTask template but there is no field where we can specify DependsOn kind of field. Once one of the backup job is submitted the subsequent submissions can have this field and get triggered as soon as first job finishes. Is there any other way we can achieve this?  Thanks

Hi, I just start a new config on three nodes for HyperScale X.I was in the cluster creation of the Commander Center and during the creation it fails because one of the nodes (3) was not ready !I’ve tried to delete the HyperScale X Cluster from the command center, it disappeared OK.But now when I try to create a new cluster I’m only seeing the node 3 (the one that was not ready in the first creation !)Is there any command line that I can run to cleanup the fail install on node 1 and 2 ! or it’s going to be faster to re image the two nodes !

Hi all I know migrating Meda Agents is usually pretty straightforward, but in this case we have some challenges.The Media Agent is also a SQL server that runs a production DB. It was created as a MA to back itself up only, due to it’s size.The customer is upgrading the Server Hardware and is following the below method, which causes us the challenges.New server will be built and given the same name and IP as the old one.So the old server will be shut down at the same time.My though it is to uninstall the MA software on the old server and reinstall it giving it a different name - to allow the DDB to be copied across to the new MA.Then if I install the MA software on the new servers, will Commvault register it as the previous MA?Second to that is moving the maglibs across.It’s all disk based. Is it possible to just detach the disks from the old server and attach them to the new one with the same ID’s

Hello,I have a CommServer with Life Sync configuration. Now I have the issue to hold the software cache on both nodes in sync. What is the best solution for this, as I read we cannot move out the software cache to a file-share as it must be located on the CommServer.what is the best practice to solve it?we running CommVault 11.20.55regards Juergen  

We had to back up some exchange Dags for short term retentions to an 3Par Disk library. The Mount Path is from one of our media agents where i can see what's stored on the 3Par. My boss wants me to back up the month of September that we have on disk to tape, so we can clear it out from the 3Par for another month of Storage.  Would the best way to back this up to tape would be to create a subclient on the media agent the drive is mounted to , target the Data Chuncks for the time of the month he wants backed up, and assign it a storage policy that will back it up to tape, or will that not capture the data we want from the 3Par?

Trying to figure out why my Java gui display of the job controller is showing something like:Username: John.Smith (67)then listing out what I guess are all of the jobs belonging to that user.How can I get rid of that “username: John.Smith (67)” line in my display? 

Hi All.In a scenario where you have Vmware snapshot backups of AD servers (2016/2019), would it be possible to do a Vmware restore of the server, and get it up and running again, if one AD server out of two has crashed? Are there any considerations or things that have to be done after the restore, before its working as a domain controller in a pair of two domain controllers again ? Or what would best practice be on a AD server running in vmware? Regards-Anders

Good day allThis one is a bit complicated, so will try keep it as brief as I can.The customer has a faulty storage device with the backup data on it.They’ve received a loan VAST unit which uses it’s own deduplication engine in addition to the Commvault dedupe in place. We would like to turn the Commvault deduplication off as we’re having errors on the DDB which may require us to seal it.The concerns I have are below, and I’m hoping to get some clarity on it.The faulty storage and VAST storage are in the same Data Centre (DC1).We want to turn DDB off in this DC and do a Move Mount Path(s) from the faulty storage to the VAST.At the same time, new backups are running to the VAST device on different Mount Paths.When this is all complete and the faulty storage is replaced (it won’t have it’s own DDB capabilities, so Commvault will handle that), we will move the VAST Mount Paths back to this s

Can i exclude certain databases (tempdb, model etc.) on a plan/policy/server group level.The goal is to group servers which uses SAP Sybase database instances, and exclude databases which is not used.(tempdb, model etc.)Otherwise I have to edit each subclient, and exclude those databases, on each server. Hope you guys can help.Thank you. 

Hi CV Community, We have acquired a company that has a chunk of data in Egnyte’s cloud.  If possible, I’m to try and back this data up, before they start trying to port it into our Sharepoint and other services as deemed appropriate.   Anyone done this? (and how did you?) I’m not seeing a lot of “we did this” sort of commentary with google searches, and I get no hits for dealing with Egnyte data in CV’s manuals or KB site. Thanks, David K

I’m on v11 SP16 and have inherited a system from someone who is no longer available.  I am not incredibly well versed in CommVault, so forgive any wrong explanations/terminology if I do not describe this well. Background:We have several Clients that have been “disabled for backup” at various levels (some at the client level, at the subclient level, or both), probably due to retiring of the underlying server (working on this info), but some clients are still backing up some things (like the filesystem or a database) and other items like a different database on the same server are disabled for backup.  The jobs for these “deactivated for backup” *should* have aged off due to how old they are.  Some have been written to tape, others have not (but still years old, way past retention).  I know I can “release the license” on the client and delete it in some cases, which will remove the jobs, but i don’t necessarily want to do that in call cases.

We have two File system servers configured MS Failover Cluster. We already installed File system core & File system agent in both nodes and then added cluster client.Created new subclient under the cluster client and then content trying to browse the Drive and folders.We are not able to browse any files under few folders.While running backup it's scanning only and not able to start the backup.The specific folders inside files are encrypted using software. Log error: FolderWatcherOps::Run(113) - Failed to get the filters from registry. Hi all,I would like to remove the email for a commcell user profileI’ve tried from Commcell console but it’s not allowed. I’ve tried from command line (QOperation.exe) but using an empty string has no effect. Is it possible to remove the email?Thanks in advance
