In Commvault Microsoft Exchange archival/cleanup, I want a confirmation if the cleanup can run for an un-archived mail.
Hi, I have a strange issue, I use same call for two different commcells. One commcell returns data as requested with no issues, second commcell simply returns very ‘informative’ error:Response code: <Response [200]>{'CVGui_GenericResp': {'@errorMessage': 'Operation failed', '@errorCode': '2'}}I am sending the following URL:http://mycommcell.NET:81/SearchSvc/CVWebService.svc/ExecuteQCommandcommand=qoperation execscript -sn QS_DataProtectionJobSummary -si '2020-1-1' -si '2021-3-16' Code snippet: def commcell_authentication(self): """This method is used to get token for comcells""" for auth in self.cs_api: pwd = self.cs_creds['password'] pwd = bytes(pwd, encoding='utf8') pwd = str(base64.b64encode(pwd), encoding='utf-8') username = 'dbadmin\\' + self.cs_creds['username'] self.cs_login_api = self.cs_login_api.replace("<<username>>", username) self.cs_login_api = self.cs_login_api.replace("
Hello, I have created many HPE storeOnce Libraries and all is fine.today I tried to create another one but after click on ok, it’s stuck. I am sure about IP, pasword of the storeonce and the media agent can ping and connect to the storeonce. Where can I find logs where I can show what happens ?Thank you !
HiI plan to migrate my commcell running on a standalone server 2012 to vmware.my plan is to : 1: Do a DR copy (in case of utter failure)2: shutdown all commvault services and sql + set services to not auto start.3: do the p2v migration, and shutdown physical machine.4: boot up virtualized commcell, and set up ip to match original machine.5: start commvault services (set to autostart)that should work right?my concerns are these : Performance. is there a tool to or something to help determine if the server can be virtualized without it taking to big of a performance hit ? fall back, if performance is determined to be to bad after some time, is the correct way to fall back to do a dr copy from the virtualized commcell, shut that instance down, and recover the dr copy to the original machine ?
Hi,An Exchange Archiving job is Forever Incremental. There is an option however “Convert job to full” (“On the Archive Options tab, if you want to run the job as a full back up job, select the Convert job to full checkbox.” https://documentation.commvault.com/11.23/expert/29004_running_exchange_mailbox_agent_archiving_job.html).Is this the same as a Full backup? If so, why is making a Full backup not an option, instead of converting an Incremental job to a full (that seems unnecessarily complicated then)? Can it be scheduled also? Or is there any difference in functionality? Thanks!
My CommVault cloud media agent is offline. Is there a problem with the CV cloud services? I’m in Canada if that makes any difference.Ken
Can a VMWARE VM be restored retaining its original UUID?
Hello,Hypervisor is VMWare 6.7VMs are windows server 2019Media Agent is a linux one, with VSA installed. Full VM backup/restore are easily performed. But for granular restore (live browse) from the VSA backup of a VM, a Windows VM is required. It have difficulties to find documentation (or best practices) regarding the deployment/configuration of this VM. Simple questions, like which packages to deploy on it… Surely MediaAgent, but only this one?. A lot of documentation exists when the MediaAgent is running Windows and the VM is linux, as the FREL is available to download, or even how to install a MediaAgent over a linux VM and convert it to FREL. But when the OSes are reversed, I’m lost. Has anyone information to share (at least to me ) ?
Hello Team, Just thought to discuss with everyone, we have lots of medias thats turn into "Deprecated” moved to Retire Pool which are very less usage. When am looked the information in Media Properties shows below message, When I could see Side information, shows ver less usage info : As per the default CommVault Media Hardware Maintenance shows as below, Here my question is : Whether those medias mark as good and re-use for future its advisible? Can you someone clarifity from MM. @Christian Kubik
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to backup a server without application data that would allow a restore of the base server which can then have the application data restored separately?Previously used backup product had a selection item called “BMR” that could be used to backup the base server allowing Bare Metal Recovery. If it makes any difference the server is a virtual machine.
Hello, We want to enable self user restores in our company. We are wondering how other Commvault customers have implemented this and what were the challenges. Are you using Command Center or api’s? How are you letting users to restore VM backups? It would be really helpfull to hear your suggestions. We are currently looking at Command center and API options.Thank you!
Many people may believe that when they create a create an Exchange Database subclient and follow this documentation Configuring Consistency Checks for Exchange Database Backups (commvault.com) that performing consistency checks is on by default and that that procedure only applies to Database Availability Groups. However, the setting you will need to check is not on the subclient, but rather under the Advanced Schedule Options. exTiDbBackup.log18260 8bac 04/02 23:15:37 805061 CsExchangeShadowSet::GetSkipIntegrityCheckOption() - Skip Integrity check:TRUE18260 7674 04/02 23:16:10 805061 CsExchangeShadow::GetSkipIntegrityCheckOption() - Setting throttling to [0]18260 7674 04/02 23:16:10 805061 CsExchangeShadow::GetSkipIntegrityCheckOption() - Perform Integrity check of Logs Only:FALSE18260 7674 04/02 23:16:10 805061 CsExchangeShadow::GetSkipIntegrityCheckOption() - Skipping integrity check based on user option.18260 7674 04/02 23:16:10 805061 [CsExchangeShadowSet::parallelbackup]Sk
I’m deploying a 2 node grid pair (local storage shared using dataserver IP), these servers also have the virtual server agent deployed and are both defined in the pseudo client. When I take node 1 offline (which is the top node in the VSA Proxy order) simulate a failure the VSA backups go to a waiting state with “14:201” Index from previous job was not found on MediaAgent, When I take node 2 offline the MediaAgent resources failover as you’d expectThe current VMware pseudo client is V1 indexing, if I create a new pseudo client and upgrade it to V2 indexing will this resolve the issue and allow jobs to continue to run if the primary VSA proxy/MediaAgent is offline? Also, I know that you need to disable the existing pseudo client, create a new one, run the workflows to update / import configs, but can I get away with just creating a new pseudo client and running the upgrade to v2 workflow (i’ll happily re-create the configuration) and leaving the old pseudo client running the legacy envir
That’s it. I see that I’m at the limit of indexed items for a single node, and our indexed material continues to grow. Email in this case, but my file indexer will be full on it’s first node within the next few months. How do I add another node?
I have seen slow performance degradation in my Exchange backups. What can I do to improve speeds?
Recently I was on a call with a prospect that had an RFP for a solution that would copy PSTs to a central location so they could be backed up.While Commvault could backup the PSTs files, the major issue with this is that PSTs were actively being used by end users. This means Outlook would have the PSTs open, thus locked to a basic file copies and even if we used the VSS support to get snapshot of them they would not be in a consistent state in some cases. Therefore, this would lead to backing up corrupted PST files. Furthermore, if a user had a say 2GB PST today and they added a single email to it, the entire PST would need to be copied\backed up again. With Commvault we would dedupe the data before going to the ContentStore but with other backup or file copy solution this would lead to possible exponential growth. PSTs are also not supported on network shares, mainly because if there is a network interruption they can easily lead to corrupted PSTs. PSTs also cannot be searched or mana
Hi, how can I check if my backups/subclients are up to speed with retention ? If I have reached the established retention and the data is starting to expire ?Days and cycles that a client lacks to meet the policyThanks
We do automatic rollouts of Active Directory in Azure for our Customers with Ansible. We want to install the AD iData Agent with the Unattend Package and Custom “install.xml” File. These we are already doing successful for MA, Proxy and Restore Agent. If you do Unattend AD Installation in the XML is PW for AD Agent needed. But it is expected a hash, but i cannot find what hash (for the PW) the Installer expect. Normal PW is not working and sha-256 hash of PW is not working, too. This is the line in XML:<activeDirectory> <userAccount password="3820c5c6992b6774aced93ecd88e04e35b4398d99e3f0a7d8" domainName="q1xyz.local" userName="svc-adbackup" /></activeDirectory>So it would be important to know with what the setup when you create the package the PW encryptes, because during automatic rollout we get it from our central key Vault during installation.

The comands to run are alter database begin backupALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO '+DGDATA/backup.ctl.galaxy’ REUSEalter database end backup Each command results in an ORA-01031. User used to backup has SYSBACKUP privileges. Any ideas to solve this issue are welcome! Thanks,Christoph
