Hello, What is the best way to backup NFS and CIFS Shares presented by Netapp Storage ? Thanks !

Hello it’s me again :)Is anyone have tried to deploy a custom package with ansible ?I would try with my colleague but actually  it does not work.here is the portion of code we use to deploy - name: Install and register Commvault Agent  win_shell: c:/sources/Commvault/WinX64.exe /silent /install /silent  args:    executable: cmd  become_method: runas  become: yes  become_user: "{{ ansible_user }}"  when: not CVserviceresult.exists  register: CVinstallresult It seems that we have somme issue and the installer is not executed.If anyone has a piece of code that work it will be very appreciated :Thanks !

Hello,I want to find the equivalent command as "commvault -csname" that was use on Unix client to get the hostname of the commserve used. Does the same command for Windows exists ? It is for use with ansible. Some client are not installed correctly the commserve Hostname stay at @@commserve@@. we Want the check on the client the name. If the name is @@commserve@@ then we Will reinstall automatically. Thanks !

Hell CV Community I have what I think might be an issue.  One of our team updated to SP 11.21.34 from SP 11.20.36.  However what we have noticed that all our Hyper-V hosts (physical servers) need a reboot due to one of the hotfixes that came down with the SP which is as follows“Install/Upgrade of package: [dotnetfx462] required a reboot. The job will resume after the reboot. To resume the job immediately, resubmit the job with the 'Reboot Client' check box selected”.  My main question is, will this be an issue having a load of servers on a different service pack from others?  It is not feasible to reboot all the hosts as part of the upgrade as these servers host Virtual servers which host live servers.ThanksTony Q

Hi all,We have a customer who needs to restore a large VM (multiple disk and TB’s).This job runs for days and than ends with Failure Reason: Unable to modify the VMX file for restore of virtual machine [vm-name]. Attempt start error: [The parameter is incorrect., Port passed is not valid. [0/0]. (W32.87)] We did not find out why, but customer would like to see that the disks restored are not automatically deleted. Is there a way in Commvault?Does the additional setting SkipDeleteVm also apply on “regular” VM restore or only on Virtualize Me?And would an Service account with no delete be an outcome or does this have to many side effects?Already my thank in advance. Danny

Hi all, Configuring Ransomware Protection for a HyperScale MediaAgent is documented here:https://documentation.commvault.com/11.23/expert/126092_configuring_ransomware_protection_for_hyperscale_mediaagent_02.html . This includes taking a backup of /etc/fstab. Pausing and Resuming the Ransomware Protection is documented here:https://documentation.commvault.com/11.23/expert/126097_pausing_and_resuming_ransomware_protection.html However, we also nee a “rollback plan” in case we run into issues and want to rollback to the previous state (before enabling Ransomware Protection). Any documentation on that? Thanks!

I believe that this is not an issue but someone asked so i wanted to clarify. When you to restore files from a server, the System State show Zero Bytes. My assumption is that the area is more of a place holder and the size of the system state is included with the C: drive backup size that shows. Am I correct? 

Hi all! We are troubleshooting some AWS Glacier upload performance issues and one of the questions the AWS engineer came back with is: Do you know if they use multipart upload in their solution? That is usually the first thing to check -https://docs.aws.amazon.com/amazonglacier/latest/dev/uploading-archive-mpu.html I did find some suggestions that we do use it: Here it states that we need MultiPart permissions: https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=91277.htm In previous service packs, there was an Additional Setting (nCloudMultipartSizeKB) to tune the the multipart size. But I would like to get some hard evidence. Does Commvault use multipart uploads to AWG Glacier - direct? Can we prove that with certain log file entries? Thanks in advance!

Hi,when I want to install a Linux client remotely with an account having Sudo privileges, the installation is carried out in the / HOME directory and not under / OPT. (under RHEL)The only solution is to deploy the agent locally with root privilegesis there a way to get around this and be able to remotely install the client properly. ?Environnment : SP23.thank you for your comebackRegards

Hi Team,In Windows FS backup, i’m getting more failed files for one particular path which have one-drive to that.Example - Path: [C:\Users\username\OneDrive - ABCcompany Ltd\Desktop\Sample.docx] [0x18B 395] Access to the cloud file is denied. It is showing error code as “Access to the cloud file is denied.” Please let me know what we need to check on this.

 Hello, I am trying to add an extended retention on aws Storage policy (2 Windows Media Agents with dedup database) When I click on validate, I have this message.  Then,I went to the storage policy to create a new copy, but the aws GDP Storage pool doesn’t appear. Hi,Last week, I restored a full VM whose IP is DHCP assigned, but fount out that, after the restore, its MAC address was changed.According to support, it’s normal because the MAC address is assigned by VMware, so, unless the original VM was deleted prior to the restore, VMware would always assign a different MAC address to the restored VM.The issue is, users who ask for a VM restore don’t usually want to delete the original one prior to the restore, not until they check the restored one to see if it works…Strange thing to me is that, in Netbackup, when I do a full VM restore, the MAC address is not changed, regardless the original one is present or not… So, I just wonder if there is a hidden switch somewhere in the restore setting that does the trick ? Or it is indeed the case that Commvault works differently to Netbackup in this scenario ? Thanks,Kelvin 

Hello,we are trying to create a custom report for endpoint backup feature, but did not succeed yet. The thing is; Commvault’s existing reports does not have the client name and client owner name in the same report. Reports are server/client centric. But we want to have owner name besides the client name in the same report so that we can understand which user’s backup is ok and which user’s is not. Maybe someone had the same issue before and found a solution? would appreciate to hear opinions and suggestions.  Regards.

Hello, I try to deploy a custom package with answer file.Then I executed the package with this command :start /wait c:\Sources\CustomPackageLocation_Win_FS\WinX64.exe /play install.xml /silentall is automatically filled by the answer file fine except at the beginning, I need to confirm manually this checkbox. Thanks ! 

Hi,Only a small question.The File Recovery Enabler for Linux FRE is based on CentOSAs you know, RedHat  stopped with CentOS, at leat they will stop the way it used to be. CentOS will become CentOS stream, and Centos 8 will become out of support end of this year.Does Commvault have any plans with regards to this? Will they switch to CentOS streams? (I think that will be difficult for support reasons?)

We want to upgrade SP16 to SP20 in a Multi tenant environment. We have about 10 customers and cannot upgrade the clients the same day. We want to upgrade the Commserve, media agents and the Network proxies. Does anyone have experience with this setup?I am afraid after upgrading the Commserve to lose connection to the Media agent on  Customer site.  Thanks in advance 

Checking my license abilities - i see where i have plenty of Virtual licenses. however when adding a vmware client I am getting this message after I authenticate. I do have an open ticket with MA , but also wanted to check here to see if anyone else has had this issue.
