Hello everyone, hopefully wanting to get some recommendations and possibly help. We are currently shopping to replace our HP LTO6 SAS Tape Libraries. We are looking at the Quantum i3’s to support LTO8. First off let me explain our setup2 Media Agents 4 Tape Libraries (HP LTO6) - 2 of them directly connected 6GB SAS to 1 media Agent and the other 2 drives directly connected 6GB SAS to the other media agentWe are looking at the i3 but would want both media agents to be able to utilize the same drives from the unit. We know how we currently have it setup and 2 drives belong to one media agent and the other 2 to the other. So some quick questions:Any recommendations on other brands we should look at?  Anyone recommend the quantum tape drives? What would the setup of this look like from a SAS to Media Agent setup look like? Right now obviously 1 media agent can’t use the other’s tape drives and we dont want to be in this pos

Hi all, we have the situation that we must backup hyper- cluster enviroment and some vms have vhds disks attached.  As we know vms with vhds disks attached are not allowed to backup.  We create 2 Subclients: 1 → Manually selection of all vms with vhdx discs only2 → Manaully selection of vms with system disc ( vhdx ) and exclude of vhds discs Now we have the problem that new created vms are not backup automaticcly. When we create an 3 subclient with the content of all unproteced vms it could be that new created vms with vhds are backuped and we went into trouble.  My 2 Questions: 1 do you know any filter possibility for rthe vhds disks ?2 Is it possible to create an report for this cluster that reports all vms wich are not backuped or included in the 2 subclients ?  regards Sebastian

I try to enable livesync ont the prod customer commserve. In the control panel\Commserve LiveSync, I have selected the checkbox to Enable Livesync.The name the  instance002 on each commserve is okI have selected the default CommServeDR, in connectivity I have chosen  Use Existing Configuration and leave all by default.after 5 mn the Console is stuck. “Commserve Livesync datasaving in progress ...”When I verify naming in the process manager, I notice that the client name of each Instance002 contains _NODE at the end, but on the console the name is ok.  Do you know why it appears ?Thanks ! when I go to process manager of each commserve I have :PRODClient name   commserveClient Hostname    csprod.mycustomer.comInstance Name    Instance001CommServe Hostname    csprod.mycustomer.com

Why is this marked as red (issue) in the admincinsole if the backup did run and completed successfully? (now it’s MAr 14, 5PM)

Hi Community,For those who use our ContentStore Mailbox (SMTP Journal Solution) with M365, please note that we are seeing a spike in support incidents being raised due to either mail not being received or cleanup jobs not actually processing any mail. In each instance so far, we have determined that the reason for this is due to the SMTP access nodes still having TLS 1.0 and 1.1 enabled (these protocols were flagged for deprecation by MSFT a few years ago however official rollout appears to be happening now).As per this article: 

Hi, For some environments, we use a VM based backup.For restoring purposes, we have restore agents installed on the vms, so that individual files can be restored.Works fine. Now the ‘problem’: when you use the command center, you can go to protection → file servers.Because we only use the agent as restore again (no backup license active), you can see the machines over there. BUT…on that page, they all show are “red - missed” sla….panic...Is there a way to “map” those machines to the vm , so that user doesn’t panic. Of course, not sure if you experience the same.

Team,We are using windows servers as Backup media agents , I want to decommission one of the media agent “x”  which is part of 3 libraries and dedupe storage policies. I have disbaled the mount paths on all 3 libraries associated with media agent “x”  , view content shows that there is no data present on the mount path . When I try to delete the mount path associated with media agent ‘x’ faces below error -Mount path is used by a Deduplication database.The data on this mount path used by the deduplication DB could be referenced by other backup jobs. The mount path can be deleted only when all associated storage policies/copies with deduplication enabled are deleted. Hi,We want to use a library with 1 LTO6 and 3 LTO8 tape drives.The LTO8 tape drives will be used for new backups on new LTO8 tapes (associating a Barcode Pattern with a Scratch Pool and the Storage Policy with the Drive Pool and Scratch Pool).The LTO6 tape drive will be used only for restores from existing LTO4 tapes.What will happen if I import an LTO4 tape in the library for a restore? Will it be loaded into the LTO6 tape drive automatically, or can I do something to arrange that? Or could it accidentally be loaded into an LTO8 tape drive?Thanks!

Hi, When using the CV Failover setting sCSINTERFACELIST which contains a list of the primary and standby CS hostnames in the Commcell, is it no longer necessary to use proxies for all clients to connect to the active Commserve in a CV Failover and LiveSync setup? Can I set up the LiveSync without the Network Topology to use these proxies and just trust this additional setting to make the client connect to the active CS? Are there any pros and cons? /Patrik

I'm having some issues with Retention cycles not adhering to the rules we give them. Are normal cycles are inc/diff are 7 days 1 Cycle, Weekly Full 28 days 1 cycle and Monthly Full for 1095+ 1 cycle. The daily retention we have no problems with , but its the weekly and monthly full’s that are not working correctly. The weekly full’s would keep the retention of a monthly full and the monthly full would keep the retention of a weekly full. I don't know if the “For Weekly Full Rule the Week Starts on” or the “For Monthly Full Rule the Month starts on “ is causing the issue, or if the “For all rules keep the:” is causing the problem.I don't know what these three rules technically do so i need help understanding these three to understand if i have them set incorrectly for the rules i am trying to set. “For Weekly Full Rule the Week Starts on”“For Monthly Full Rule the Month starts on ““For all rules keep the:”  

So I am out of the womb new to Microsoft Azure. Our company is wanting to add Azure into our environment, and tried setting up some vm’s with azure which sadly I'm awaiting for my systems team to help me with. I poked them again to get the project started, however, he was talking about they are looking into Microsoft Azure DNS, and Azure SQL, and was wondering if Commvault handles backups for these two products for Azure? I straight up don't know the answer fully and tried googling, but just got more confused. If any of you guys know if these are straight forward something Commvault handles, or if “SQL” and “DNS” is to vague of a description. Let me know and point out some articles that i can take back to them for further collaboration. 

Hello, we have received a notice from our security department that we need to update the Tomcat on the servers for Commvault. Has anyone here already done such an update ? I think an update of the Tomcat would also mean a downtime for the affected system. I would like to inform myself in advance here about the procedure before I run into an error that could mean the failure of the backup service.RegardsThomas

In order to remove excess storage policies, I was wondering if incremental storage policies can be shared across multiple storage policies? We use the incremental storage policies for our daily backups which has a short retention cycle of 7 days 1 cycle. 

Hi everyone,i`ve been using intellisnap with netapp for a long time now at customers but always with the oncommand unified manager.been trying to test a bit with the netapp open replication now to get rid of the OCUM.so the setup is….2 netapp simulators, one cifs volume at the source, relationship set up.snapshot and vault to one destination volume works.snapshot and mirror to another destination volume (from same source) works.but i am getting errors, when it comes to set up one source volume to one destination volume using BOTH - vault and mirror type. this was working before with ocum - istn it supported with the open replication anymore?thank you in advance,Sebastian  

We are starting a new project with everything in AWS and planning to use commvault as our backup system via AWS.   So Im still a novice with commvault and Im wondering when deploying the commvault image to an instance is it like everything wrapped up in one instance.?  Such as the commserve, media agent etc…Or do I need to deploy various instances for each.?  Do I need a server for commservr and another one for media agent etc…?

Currently with the API at the moment if I want to find the registered clients with ‘SQL Server’, I need to iterate through the GET /Clients/ collection one by one for each clientproperties → client → idaList → idaEntity → appName.Is there a more efficient way? The GET /Agents/ command suite is not suitable in this instance because it requires passing the clientId.

Hi.I am new to commvault and i deployed cloud control (all in one) in Azure. After initial settings, when i navigate to protect section, i couldn't find application section at all. In the guided setup page, i could see cloudapps with tick enabled, but when i click it. Its not navigating me to cloudapps section. Is this a bug or am i missing anything here?Cloud control version : 11.22.0
