I was able top back up some long path files, but I’m having trouble getting them to restore. Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong?
I noticed that CV does not seem to acknowledge the mail slot at all. Is this because I have a blind library?
I have one tape that I’d like to share across my Storage Policies. Can I have each Copy use the same tape?
How does Commvault handle the same name?
My boss wants me to backup the actual CV Magnetic folders on our libraries. Is this possible?
Is it possible to change the block size? If so, how do I do it?
I noticed you can set up an account to access the mount paths in the library. What are the permissions needed for that account?
After looking at the last few days’ worth of backups, I’ve noticed that one of the Incrementals converted to a Full backup. What are the reasons this would have happened?
We are working to configure our Commvault to push AUX copy data to StorageGRID as a longer term storage option. Wondering if anyone out here has done the same if there are any gotchas or any commentary on the configuration/practice/etc.
I just started with Commvault and need to figure out my VMWare licensing.
Hello,There are two options to configure the CIFS Backup. What is the better option to use ?Via array management or via Client Computer ? Thanks !
Hi all,Is it possible to create a role that allows you to browse in a vmware subclient only of a single resource pool? When the user browses the subclient's content he must not see any other resources. I also tried to configure a role with "Change Content" disabled, but the user is still able to change the content.
Hi. In a VMware environment, I have VSA on virtual machine. Running HotAdd backup, if the VM backing up is on the same host of VSA, the final “remove snapshot” is very fast (few seconds). If the VM backing up is on a different host of VSA, the final “remove snapshot” is very slow (some minutes) and in the meanwhile the VM is unresponsive.Someone can explain to me why this happens? Thanks
From time to time there are those that have backups for clients that were once protected by pre-V11 agents that have since been unlicensed and protected by classic v1 indexed VM backups. There are odd occasions when this Known Issues for VMware VM-Centric Operations (commvault.com) gets me tripped up when I want to move to VM Centric, but it becomes a show stopper because of the number of agents that would have to be rolled out and then release the license on each one. I’d love to know if there is a way around it, like doing an offline client update; or where possible, batch rename the hostname of the pre-V11 clients so a new virtual client object is created?
Hello,I upgrade the Commserver from version 11 SP 13+ to 11.22.13.Someone already had a problem like thatand the Job 27641Job 27641 had no problems: Message in Commserv:
I have some Linux files that I need to restore to a Windows server. I definitely have some files that have similar names but are different on the Linux server because of case sensitivity. How will these files get restored?
I’m new to Commvault and started running some Virtual Server full backups and they seem to be slower than I expected. These are on thin provisioned disks if that helps. Any ideas?
Has anyone managed to create a Teams application?I’m getting account@domain does not have a valid license, please assign valid Office 365 license to the user when creating the app after is has gone through the authorize step. The screen for the last step also shows “An error occurred while acquiring the token.”The account I’m using is a global admin and has a basic O365 license. I can log in and send/receive mails so it is licensed. BoL is severely lacking on content on how to create an Office 365 Teams app in Command Center but what is there shows the requirements which we seem to have met. We’re running CV 11.22.18.
Can someone please confirm whether or not content indexing is supported against synthetic full backups? We have a single Commvault resource that seems to be implying that CI is NOT supported against synthetic full backups, only traditional fulls and incrementals, and this doesn’t seem to be documented anywhere. Thank you.
Over time (about 8 months) the full backup duration time increases from 0,5 to 4,75 hours and with that seeing the average throughput decreases from above 300 Gb/hr to about 35 Gb/hr.Recently the Oracle instance restarted spontaneously as the full backup tried to start. After this the backup time and throughput are performing well again.Oracle 12.1.0.2, Windows 2012 R2, Commvault 11, size DB grow in this 8 months from 133 to 155 Gb.What could have caused this performance decrease and more important are there ways to prevent this and monitor (of course, now we know we keep an eye on the statistics) or is this a known issue?
Hello,Good Afternoon.I´m having trouble installing an agent on a MS Windows Server 2019.The user is Admin local on the server Error:
Hi,is there any report/query to find Schedule Polices which have one of following enabled (instead of each via GUI)?“Start New Media”“Mark Media Full On Success”We are investigating an increased usage of LTO tapes as the amount of data is nearly constant.
Hello, I would like to request your help as i’m quite new and have only basic knowledge of backup systems. After reading the commvault documentation available online and tried to troubleshoot the issues, they were narrowed down to 3: Sealed DDB are not aging out. When I try to run a verification of existing jobs on disk and deduplication database it says DDB is corrupted. we have our disks full, as the backups all have stopped. When i run the data retention forecast and compliance report it says “BASIC CYCLE” as reason why jobs are not aged out, i have this dedup policy to age out jobs after 1 cycle, so i guess that if i do a full backup, the previous will be aged out.. except i dont have any available disk space. Also I was unable to find a DDB backup as it seems there was never one to begin with. Should i reconstruct one new from the group up? How can i reduce the size of sealed DDBs as they are quite old.
Does anyone know where these alerts are coming from? I know that CommVault has turned on some alerts that cannot be turned off AND that my company is having a great deal of trouble with the accuracy of reporting coming from cloud.commvault.com so I’d like to keep my reporting in house until the company can stabilize a bit in that department. For now I’d just like to turn off all reporting from webconsole and cloud.commvault.com. I think we’ve killed everything from cloud.commvault.com (extremely messy) but we aren’t sure where these are coming from. Hello,This is a notification for the alert Alert for Health Parameter [Low Disk Space] of CommCell [] that is set on the report Health Report..Storage Policy Disk Usage of CommCell is at Critical statusAlert triggered for Criteria:· Low Disk Space status is criticalOutcome:Storage Policy Copies:Total: 13 Good: 11 Warning: 1 Critical: 1 Remarks:Add more disk space to the Disk Libraries or revisit the Retention settings and Data Aging
I have a question regarding the File Indexing for Advanced reporting and search in Command Center. It’s not 100% clear for me after reading docs online.Let’s assume I enable indexing on one VM group. I understand that the MA associated with the storage policy used to backup this VM group will automatically have some roles installed and become index server. Now let’s assume I enable indexing on a different VM group where I use a different MA for backup. What will be the behaviour:Will a second, separate index instance be created? I will have two separate MA index servers and two separate indexes? Will I have a second indexing “node”, but the index will be shared between MA1 and MA2?
