Hello,My Technical Security Team want to run a vulnerability scan of the MongoDB on several of my Commvault servers. They need some form of credentialed access into these databases? Is this possible or are the MongoDBs purely for internal Commvault use?RegardsFergus
Hello,My Commvault environment is v11 SP16.On a lot of my servers, Java is installed in C:\Program Files\Java.Does Commvault rely on this or does it use the JRE within the ContentStore folder? Thanks in advance.RegardsFergus
hi guys, we have an issue with one of our Oracle VMs. The VM is not really big, the backup data is 1-2 gb in size (size of application). Compression rate is ~70%.96% of the time the backup is in read phase. The backup take around 30 minutes. The disk is really busy inside the VM. When the backup starts we see 20-30k read IOPS and 100% busy state, which I can’t explain. We can see it on full backups and on incremental backups of the default subclient. We already limited the read throughput with the RATE setting inside CV to 250MB/s. (before we saw 800-900 MB/s read). Anyway, this do not help with the high read IOPS at the start of the backup. We see this high IOPS for 30-60 seconds and then it falls to 500-1000 during the rest of the backup.Anything we can do to limit the READ IOPS in this case? What is the reason for such high read iops for this small database? What exactly is happening at the start of the rman backup? On the backend storage I can not see any bottleneck. We use All Flas
Hello friends,I have two questions, maybe more of one statement and one question. It’s still true that if I change the encryption in a stg policy copy it’s only new content that get’s the new encryption and any older will keep the original encryption. Am I right here?Currently we have the setting “Do not deduplicate against objects older then” 180 days enabled.Retention for the policy is lets say 730 days.If we where to change the encryption for that stg policy copy, it would take 360 days before we would have no referenses to the “old” encryption? Or would there be jobs with the “old” encryption throughout all 730 days? Not sure I describe the question in a good way.. BRHenke
Hi All,I have an issue when adding a OneDrive cloud storage.I am configuring via CommCell Console. If I enter Application ID, Tenant ID and Shared Secret and then click the Detect button I receive an error “ ### EvMMConfigMgr::onMsgCloudOperation() - Failed to check cloud server status, error = [[Cloud] The requested URI does not represent any resource on the server. Message: Invalid hostname for this tenancy ”Commvault support answer is “The cloud vendor should be able to help you with the right URL. This is outside Commvault unfortunately ”.Does anybody have any experience using Microsoft OneDrive as a cloud storage?Thank you,Lubos
Has anyone who has recently upgraded to MR34 (11.21.34) and using Application Aware VM backups having issues with the VSAAppAwareBackupWorkflow job Failing at “update app aware status for VM2” task? Error messages showing “com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition.Source: , Process: Workflow”If you are also facing this issue have you any workaround/temporary fix?
Hi All, Recently I gone through some of the great discussion about Plans in the forum and also tried the same in our environment. But, at few areas I struggle to figure out the solution and looking helps.I understood that Synthetic Full backup schedule is automated and it run for every 30 days. But, where can modify it according to my environment. How the data aging will be impacted if I haven’t enabled the Full backup option How can I create a Plans for OS specific and how to restrict the windows or linux client should be added into that Plan like schedule policy. How can I enable the 1-Touch recovery option at plan level How can I schedule a AUX copy as I couldn’t find option for sync copy. By default it takes 1 cycle for all the backups. How can make into 0. Because in our case, we have daily INC and monthly Syntactic full backup and there is no full for VM/FS agents. How to split up Backup Window for Primary copy and Aux Copy How to disable client association into Base Plan and
We have four Exchange servers. Each DB has a passive and active copy with them being on different servers. We installed the media agent and a backup disk on the exchange db server. Usually i know what DBs are passive on each server so i setup a subclient on each one so the back up will run from the passive disk directly over the SAN to the backup disk without using the network. However sometime exchange admins will do patching late at night and the DBs will failover and they wont fail them back til later. when this happens the db backups are much slower. I want to avoid this by configuring each subclient to only backup the passive DBs that are on the same server as the media agent/backup disk. my goal is to never run backups over the network even when DBs are failed over to other servers. is this possible?
I tried to get some Information similar to the Health Status Dashboard by Rest API.I only need the overall Results and not all details. Is there any endpoint which i can use to get it?
Hi all. Any one who can explain how the Install Windows Updates Workflow works? I have a MediaAgent which does not have internet access or access to any other windows update service, can I use the workflow to update this MediaAgent with windows updates, or does it need to have access to the internet to get this workflow to work? Thanks-Anders
Is anyone out there taking CommVault data and either pushing it to… or pulling it from Service Now? I would love to take the reporting capabilities of Webconsole and put them into Service Now inside of my asset management space. I’d love to be able to build a space inside of Service Now where my customers can get their most FAQ’d questions that they ask my team. The biggest issue we are having in this is the lack of support for integration from CommVault itself. Only since FP21 does CommVault allow multiple CommCell support but there is still no internal integration between CCID’s for a singular repository of “fact” that could then be queried against. In fact the only way CommVault has gone on record to support this endeavor is to setup a MID server contact for each CommCell and then force me (customer) to support all of its integration. In my opinion, all of this could be avoided if webconsole was able to be integrated with Service Now where webconsole would do the work and Ser
So the ticketing service is kind of being slow with this process, and i want to know if I can do this on my own. We have an alert for No Index Backup in the last 30 days. I don't know why they are not storing the index information on the media agents but storing the index data to tape. How do i get a client that is on this list for no index backup to get the index to backup to the media agent so i can get rid of this list?
We have some customers (tenants) that are managed by a common support organisation, which is asking whether the Azure Storage account that is required for SharePoint restores needs to be within the tenancy hosting the SharePoint (M365) implementation. Presumably, they want to have their own storage account rather than ask each customer to create their own (this always seems to be an awkward conversation with customers for some reason). I’ve checked books online and it cannot find this detail. Is it possible to have the Azure storage account hosted outside the SharePoint tenancy and if so will Commvault restores cope with multiple parallel restores for different tenants (data segregation springs to mind)? We are running CV 11.22.19 and have V1 and V2 type agent for O365 applications.
I would like to save the backup summary report from webconsole in network share on a daily basis. Is anyone know how to overwrite the report each time when the report gets created?
Is anyone using Tenable Nessus agent in their environment? Have you noticed any issues with throughput for your backups? I ask because we have it installed on our Commvault servers and it is affecting the network but I'm being told that Nessus agent does not interfere with day to day operations. I ran a library throughput trend report with Nessus agent installed, uninstalled and reinstalled, there definitely is a issue there. Anyone else having similar issues?
We recently set up a CommCell in our dev environment and SSO appears to keep failing attempting to sign in to the comcell console. when I try to launch the CommCell. It attempts to SSO then fails and prompts us to enter our password. Entering our passwords is not a long term option as we need to authenticate our accounts using certificates on a smart card(how we rdp to the commserv). We have tested entering a password and it does successfully authenticate to the main domain that we set up in the security section of the CommCell. We have our main domain with our authenticating groups and the dev domain where our CommCell is joined. We also have SSO set up identically to our other CommCell’s in our production domains per https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=3793.htm . I also tried validating the user account in the domain settings and it validates successfully without issue, so I am not entirely sure if it is a networking/domain issue. I have also examined the EvMg
I want to move media between libraries, but want to be sure it doesn’t get overwritten.
I just performed an in-place restore and my next backup converted to a full automatically. Why did this happen?
What’s the best way for me to troubleshoot a slow backup?
I have just added a Linux client to my CommCell, and there are folder paths that go way beyond 1024 characters. How can I back those up?
I have been running backups for a week or so now, and just started reviewing the Job Histories. Looking at one of my clients, I can see that the Incremental is the same size as the Full was when it ran, which doesn’t make any sense?
I have a stand-alone tape library and need to ensure that I utilize barcodes from the get go. How do I add them for each tape?
Hi When I look at the VSA backup of a Linux system, I don't see any data in some directories, such as /dev. Is this a bug or do I need to adjust something on the fbr ? We used Commvault SP20 and the fbr was also updated to the version for SP20.RegardsThomas
I ran a restore on one of my Windows clients to confirm that my backups are working (they are!). However, it wanted me to do a reboot afterwards. Since this was a test, that’s not a big deal, but I want to know why it happened in case it is an issue with a live restore.
