we hv one oracle DB that was restore but asking of archive log we cannot find

@Alexzy If you are attempting to recover a database from a online backup, Oracle will need archive logs to roll forward the database to a consistent state. Oracle will request for the logs it needs during the rollfoward / recovery and if the log is not available for any reason the recovery many be incomplete.

You may prefer to perform a point in time restore / recovery to the time when all the logs are available from the online backup.

Could you elaborate on exact scenario you are running into and also share the rman log from the restore / recovery which is failing.

@Alexzy , are you sure there aren’t any Offline backups of the database?  They could be in a different Storage Policy ()same as the logs).

Might be worth looking at all schedules for the client overall to see what runs and where to.

@Alexzy , depends on the source backup.

An Oracle restore from an offline backup will not need archive logs but a restore from an online backup will definitely need archive logs.

so what happen wen we restore after trying to bring the db up is requesting for archive log which he did not back even wen we check the host server manually to fine if we can but it was no avail.

so my question is how did it happen.
