Hi Virgil,

No you cannot restore the a table back to the same DB.

Recovering SQL Tables from a Recovery Point (commvault.com)

“When you restore from a recovery point, you save time because the snap mount is complete and the database is already attached. Table restore is not allowed to the database created from the recovery point job.”

To clarify, this seems to indicate you can’t restore back to the temporarily mounted database (snap mount) that is instantiated by the recovery operation - but you should be able to restore back to the database from where the backup originated on the production server?

Hi Virgil,

I believe that Granular Restore for MS SQL can only be done with BlockLevel and IntelliSnap or AppAware backups.

-If you aren’t using the above methods then you will see an error on Granular Browse stating the DB doesn’t qualify.

Michael

No, you cannot restore to the original database that you are browsing.

This is also being discussed on this thread.

Granular Table Restore to original database

I will update with complete details or possible CMR.
