Is there any downside to using multiple channels (data streams) for Oracle RMAN backups when client-side deduplication is configured?  i.e. is deduplication negatively impacted vs using a single channel.

Thank you.

Hi @Skarra,

Talking with one of our oracle experts, he says it should not affect deduplication as by default it will only assign one database file to a channel - so the data stream integrity for purposes of deduplication should be the same. If you change the section size for datafile there could be an impact, but that is not a default option.
