Hello,

       I’m facing an issue during a restoration job with the following message :

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Description: [Media read operation failure] [Dedupe cloud media] [The operation is not valid for the object's storage class. The object might be archived and the Cloud Recall workflow might have been initiated. After the recall operation is complete, the job will resume and the recalled data will be restored.] Source: ip-**-**-**-**, Process: cvd

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

         i  launched a Cloud Storage Archive Recall job  ( completed successfully).

         Extract of Cloud Storage Archive Recall logs :

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

113094 1b9c6 03/16 07:22:07 jobid CRCacheDataRecaller::ProcessMetaDataFiles() - Processed metadata file [s3://******/-01/EXIFPF_08.18.2023_12.11/CV_MAGNETIC/V_81029/CHUNK_554523/CHUNK_META_DATA_554523]
113094 1b9c6 03/16 07:22:07 jobid CRCacheDataRecaller::ProcessMetaDataFiles() - Processed metadata file [s3://******/-01/EXIFPF_08.18.2023_12.11/CV_MAGNETIC/V_80842/CHUNK_554683/CHUNK_META_DATA_554683]
113094 1b9c6 03/16 07:22:07 jobid CRCacheDataRecaller::ProcessMetaDataFiles() -  Completed process all available metadata files
113094 1b9c6 03/16 07:22:07 jobid CRCacheDataRecaller::RecallFiles() - Detected [1782] new files possibly requiring recall.

...

113094 1b9c6 03/16 07:22:15 jobid CRCacheDataRecaller::RecallFiles() - [Recall Group - 2] Completed processing all files.
113094 1b9c6 03/16 07:22:15 jobid CRCacheDataRecaller::PrintStatus() - Object Status: Recalling [0], Recalled [0], Failed [0]
113094 1b9c6 03/16 07:22:15 jobid CRCacheDataRecaller::CheckRecallComplete() - Completed processing all files.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      and then a new restoration job execution but it failed again.

      In cvd.log, i observed the error message :

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

cvd.log:1802 b18d  03/18 16:23:08 *****  [DEVICE_IO] DirectReadFile() - Error: The operation is not valid for the object's access tier. Details: StorageClass = "INTELLIGENT_TIERING" AccessTier = "ARCHIVE_ACCESS".. Failed to read the remote file - EXIFPF_08.18.2023_12.11/CV_MAGNETIC/V_72158/CHUNK_86602/SFILE_CONTAINER_019.FOLDER/0

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Or my aws s3 storage   get a feature Intelligent tiering, i get see the chunk data that will retrieved correctly in the bucket on the the recovery point needed to proceed restoration.

I need to implement s3 intelligent tiering for cost saving requirements.

If someone that already set this configuration 😃, thanks for your help.

Regards.

Karim

@karim Thank you for reaching out. Once the workflow recalls the data the restore should work. Please open a support case so we can review.

@William Dennehy , Thanks for your help and feedback.

We already launch workflow recall  ( manual & atomatic by adding advanced settings at commcell level) et before restore operation.

We already open a support case with all the logs workflow recall and restore job.

All these steps were achieved , the case was opened 3 weeks ago.

Regards.
