Hi,

I see in the repository of running jobs there are files ending in data, meta and idx. What are these files for? Is it when data arrives at MediaAgent as chunk and when stored in block? Do you have a diagram to describe the process of moving these blocks of data, and how it is stored?
Another question is can I copy the backup file to restore on another Commcell environment?

Thanks

@han97di , hopefully this helps:

  1. The data files are content files.  The idx is the Index info, and meta is the metadata (aside from the index)
  2. I don’t know of a diagram of the actual data side, though there’s one on Media Agent operations here: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/8816_mediaagent_administration.html
  3. Not directly, though you can import a client from one CommCell to another through a CommCell Migration https://documentation.commvault.com/11.28/expert/5078_commcell_migration_overview.html
