My customers CV server has some hardware issues and OEM suggested to format the complete server.

Now, There are only few NAS boxes whose old data they want to preserv and rest they can take backup from scratch and all those NAS boxes have a common Storage Policy

Now what is best way to achieve this?

  1. Assign LUN to Server
  2. Create new Storage Pool with a new DDB ? ( can we assign exisitign DDB to new pool?)
  3. Setup Secondary for this storage policy to new Storage Pool
  4. When AUX job is completed , take DR copy and deattach LUN.
  5. format server
  6. Rstore DR
  7. then how to brigngf back data from secondary copy..i am confused from here

Please suggest any other alternate method if possible  , NAS has huge data in TBs hence we do not want to start full backup.

Hi @yogesh.tech,

Good day.

  1. Assign LUN to Server
  2. Create new Storage Pool with a new DDB (Please use the new DDB this will help to ensure we are not referring any signatures from the old pool)
  3. Setup Secondary for this storage policy to new Storage Pool
  4. When AUX job is completed , take DR copy and deattach LUN.
  5. Format server and ensure that the old library is online from the CV console.
  6. To bring the data from secondary to primary → Please follow the below,                                 A) Change the precedence of secondary to 1 .                                                                      B) Copy those jobs using the auxcopy operation from the new library to the old library.           C) After the completion of Auxcopy, revert the precedence.

Hi @yogesh.tech

1. Identify the separate storage policy specifically for DDB backups if applicable.
2. Create a new copy of the identified storage policy.
3. Use the auxiliary copy process to transfer data to the new copy.
4. Once the auxiliary copy process is complete, switch the new copy to be the primary.
5. Verify that DR backups and DDB backups are now using the new library and not the old disabled one.
